mircea_popescu: they're very inept, in any practical sense, can't actually DO anything, as much as a de-
pdf-er or whatever. logs can't live on www because among all the transhumans there isn't a single one who CAN do this.
kanzure: re: throwing out the crap, someone was working on 'compression' (since
pdf is awful and highly redundant). he estimated the total data could be 10x reduced.
mircea_popescu: the MOST you might be trusted with would perhaps be something like a de-
pdf-ing bot, which you don't want to do because you (wrongly) imagine it's beyond your level.
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo do we have the famous
pdf unicorn-coconut or whatever took to the inept competition instead of bringing to qntra, resulting in a jail term for her ?
☟︎ PeterL: mircea_popescu linking to a
pdf, what is the world coming to!?
mircea_popescu: "For ready comparison, the "journalists" of the Empire of Stupid were mentally slow and bodily lazy enough to publish a
pdf that betrayed their source last month." links it neh.
mircea_popescu: btw, where did we lulz at some fake news outlet printing a

sina: asciilifeform: nope, and I did look! the closest thing I found was this, which is both not public and not for constantime, although interesting nonetheless drops.dagstuhl.de/opus/volltexte/2012/3587/
pdf/3.
pdf mircea_popescu: which is what i mean. ps (that eventually yielded
pdf, and also what you apparently think is ps) yielded tex through knuth's reaction to it.
mircea_popescu: while i think it's broadly true that ps yielded tex and
pdf in world and gutter respectively, it's not clear the ps folk understood reflow, or generally speaking the problem they were trying to approach.
Framedragger: in retrospect i *should* have published screenshots. at this rate original
pdf is sorta-better.
phf: pretty much as close as it gets to
pdf-izing html
Framedragger:
