deedbot: diana_coman updated rating of
esthlos from 2 to 1 << he could have been someone
diana_coman: asciilifeform: well, for one thing I don't think it's an accurate description of the situation in that...who produced phf,
esthlos, framedragger? re
esthlos at least I can even say that no, he precisely dropped out of ..production as you put it.
ossabot: Logged on 2019-09-04 13:25:57 mircea_popescu: spyked, wow look at that. okay, so btcalpha, anco.is,
esthlos.com can all come off.
snsabot: Logged on 2019-09-05 14:41:05 shinohai: Anyway, this morning's experiments show that
esthlos V won't press trb correctly. Barfs on asciilifeform's numbered bitcoin vpatches, eg:
trinque: in other CLisms,
esthlos' vtron works great. it's a shame he left.

esthlos went ?

billymg: yep yep,
esthlos' guide explicitly mentions including mysql, apache2 in the use flags for php (my post mentioned neither as it somewhat relied on
esthlos' as the base)
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform no idea re
esthlos . maths dude who did summaries, then fell behind, then caught on and wanted to put more effort into it, then fell behind again. maybe he re-emerges.
diana_coman: uhm,
esthlos's blog at blog.
esthlos.com gives for me "error establishing a database connection"?? yo,
esthlos, what are you doing those days?
a111: Logged on 2018-11-13 14:44 asciilifeform: possible exception is
esthlos, but i have not tested his item yet
lobbes btw is finding
esthlos' summaries to be very helpful in finding threads at times
billymg: many thanks to
esthlos, hanbot, BingoBoingo, phf for helpful posts
trinque: btw no insult meant to
esthlos; we'll get an ebuild in there for his vtron as well, but he lacks a differ, and thus it's not a full v

esthlos: trinque: asdf is used to join the pieces together (keccak, gpg, etc.) for use by the vtron proper. I tried to build the vtron modularly, and my understanding is that asdf is the standard for handling modules in common lisp. is there a better way to do package management in cl?
trinque:
esthlos: where's asdf come in?
trinque: one thing that looks interesting externally is tbh throwing first doing something to actively seek out non-knuckleheads (yo
esthlos, what do you do for a living again?) and see if a quarter or two of float can get folks building things that put hard pressure on trb thriving.

esthlos's thing calls to gnupatch ?! ugh

esthlos, when am I getting such a thing with which to cuntoo?

a111: Logged on 2018-09-27 15:36 phf: asciilifeform: but if you want a full "v replacement and i don't want to think about none of that" then just use
esthlos's item. i believe he has a working keccak already
phf: re
esthlos's work i think it's a shame that he chose to reimplement own keccak, but is still calling out to gnu patch. he could just focus on graph resolution/signature/wot checking, and offload the validation on vpatch: construct the press list, feed the patches in-order to vpatch, if vpatch succeeds then you know _for certain_ that the sequence of patches is valid, hashes and all
phf: trinque: it hasn't been, and i'm doing omission by not mentioning that vtools had a later mandate for graph resolution. meanwhile
esthlos v was supposed to supposed to fix the issue, i suspect that different v's will eventually catch up.
a111: Logged on 2018-09-27 13:50 diana_coman: asciilifeform, np; re vtron yes, currently it is only vdiff and vpatch functionality; I use old v to see the flow (since it checks the seals but doesn't care about the hashes until press time) and then the vpatch to actually press; looking forward to
esthlos' vtron

☟︎☟︎ mod6: im not positive, although, I think another troublesome one was hanbot's wp-mp, which BingoBoingo used
esthlos' to press. i think.
mod6: mine does not do the graph-resolution as proposed by phf &
esthlos.
phf: i just got aarch gnat operational yesterday, so i'll republish it as a single tree anyway, but as of right now i think only
esthlos's v does the fancy graph resolution

mircea_popescu: (and, for the
esthlos of the present and they of the future, the "lie-tician" was a reference to lie groups, which is a sort of we-wanna-galois-too but with more symmetry, less comprehensibility and possibly much powerful-er overall. i half-expected he's going to start throwing manifolds at me or who knows what nonsense, take me out of commission for the remainder of the season.)
