mircea_popescu: i suppose at the furthermost it could result in 1. luser installing that ;
2. luser being displeased with shitclient performance ; 3. luser whining at mocky ; 4. mocky asking him to check his binary hash.

http://btcbase.org/log/2018-07-16#1834921, ack. I think it's a brilliant idea. Especially, points (
2) and (3) and I'm not worried about the "keeping a secret" parts. First, I've worked for companies with an extensive secret code base (and this code is and has been secret for a long time > 30 years) . Second, all leaked sources are "illegal" anyway (as in this source was not sanctioned, so it's worthless).
☝︎ mod6: Anyway Gentlemen, I think that currently this comes down to: 1) "How much do I trust the man standing next to me?" and
2) What are the consequences should others betray and leak my valuable assets?
diana_coman: asciilifeform, I enjoyed his stories during those
2-3 years when I read almost only SF, 16-18 or there about; when I re-read now I kept getting annoyed because I keep finding it starts well and then sort of veers into what he'd like the world to be rather than what it is
mircea_popescu: type 1 is very different from type
2 ; it's perhaps how you train a slave, or how you make a friend, or whatever. type
2 is very ~visible~.
mircea_popescu: and i suppose this is where i insert an important distinction, the lack of which perhaps informed most of alf's earlier protests : provided l1 has code asdiscussed, there are two, very strictly distinct, leaks. 1. is when x guy in lordship shares it with y guy not in lordship.
2. is when x guy in lordship ~publishes~, which is to say, shares with ~unspecified~ outsiders.
phf: (my logotron has not been that way since the fateful burning man of
2 years ago, now "maintenance" involves adapting to changing landscape of e.g. freenode, etc.)
mircea_popescu: situation
2, as contemplated : you release a binary, which mp like an idiot runs, and that's that. the machine no longer has cause to think alf's an idiot.
a111: Logged on 2018-07-16 15:44 mircea_popescu: this release paradigm has the advantages that 1. permits us to control binaries, which means stuff like
http://btcbase.org/log/2018-07-16#1834888 (which i'm very much impressed with, btw) ;
2. permits to reserve some interest for the author, because the strategic thinking over at minigame is that we'll want client competition (from skinning all the way to all the way) and remuneration by installs (hence all that hash dance in

http://btcbase.org/log/2018-07-02#1831375 STILL didn't get a direct answer, two weeks later. this "withdraw into busywork" reaction to uncomfortable realities may work (it doesn't work, but subjectively may seem to work) in lines typically well fit to the autistic. but as things stand here it's at least mildly insulting to BingoBoingo, that he's the dood on the ground and you're somehow looking right throguh him.

☟︎ mircea_popescu: let's set out the dilemma properly, for future readers. 1. if the creditor is not an agent, then why would he get anything ? i mean beyond the usg-istic / southparkian "aaaannd... it's gone" ? and
2. if the creditor is an agent, then why does the borrower carry all the responsibility ?
mircea_popescu: they adapted the falx for a siege weapon, but the original thing deployed against them / used by the dacians was a

mircea_popescu: diana_coman has been tickling it for the past
2-6 weeks.
mircea_popescu: trinque aha so basically the situation here is, 1. you did an ablated gentoo last year, which was more vanilla ;
2. meanwhile it was discovered no longer builds, because imperial shitstack can't be a foundation for anything but the cockroaches ; 3. since ave1 work meshes well with older asciilifeform work we've updated the cuntoo target for a full musl integration, and this will come but 4. prolly later this year ?

BingoBoingo: There are two marketing avenues. 1 - Targeted social engineering
2 - Third Class Mail (On the Internet)
mircea_popescu: that's the problem here. "1. we have these machines ;
2. we know they're broken ; 3. alf objects to the curative process either because he doesn't like its name or because that which cureth could make ill."
mircea_popescu:
2. you sign another new patch, later on, "fixing-bugzappers.patch". this patch references manifest patch and ircbot-multichan-etc.
mod6: Perhaps we need to 1: Formally adopt the manifest spec proposed by trinque,
2: build a V that supports it.
