dos via small orders is going to be dealt with in the long term <- new trade engine won't have any issue handling that
gesell: deadweasel: not publically at least and the current
dos's are actually DDoS or 1:1
dos. Not crashing the interface, as far as ive hard
KRS1: im not sure cloudflare KNOWS how to protect against
dos, they just seem to put up a maint page if it gets too bad
Troic: 'bunch of spot instances or cheap vpses' all on same router for
dos to target
pigeons: and i did do business with him , i bought his cdos from mpex and he proceeded to sell all the C out from the
DOs and then told me it was impossible for cpa to go bankrupt when i asked him about it
dub: thats just my experience with gettign
dos'd on $20 vpsen :)
dub: I think while there could have been a quicker response (and really the pain here is for any other customer of bitvps), a $20 vps is not expected to handle any kind of
dos in a way that mitigates the attack for its target
Namworld: Oh, We don't have the infrastructure to handle any large
DoS tho, we're relatively a very small host. Not the kind that was being conducted against MPEx. Not sure what you would ahve wanted us to do.
jurov: No, I think the right answer would be to ask the client why they expect the
dos and where
jurov: not like "oh coinbr.com seems under
dos, too"
dub: now would be a great time to
dos guild
MadSweeney: mpex being
dos'd can be ironically considered a milestone ;-)
dub: google groups can probably take teh
dos mod6: (19:12) < dub> I've been waiting a long time for someone to simply
dos gox for a few weeks << exactly.
dub: I've been waiting a long time for someone to simply
dos gox for a few weeks
maximian: probably a
DoS attack, happened a few weeks ago
dub: Luke-Jr: why 'D'
DoS?
dub: mircea_popescu: did the
dos come with an extortion attempt or anything?
jurov: proper quoting IS documented since ol'
dos mircea_popescu: no, actually, i think some scriptkiddie is trying his version of a
dos. the server's been doing 1-1.5Gbps for the past hour
Diablo-D3: ms
dos 2.11 on a 6mhz 8086, 640kb of memory after upgrade
OneEyed: And I did my PhD thesis a long time ago on distributed systems, and worked for a long time on trust issues in those systems (including protection against replay attacks, byzantine failures,
dos, …)
OneEyed: mircea_popescu: the only risk is a
DOS, since you cannot remove anything from a key, only add to it - and if someone manages to sign a revocation certificate for someone else, well, that someone else will be happy to have the revocation added to his key!
