phf: i think it's worthwhile to have an emergency bag. i wouldn't want to dig for my passports or backups or search for atms or whatever in a pinch..
mircea_popescu: at which point mr engineer beats the shit out of the various derps thinking they're cool and rappers and whatnot, repossesses the black woman and reconstructs his grandfather's mansion
phf: what is this, b-a take on tarantino plots
mircea_popescu: but you're right, they won't. and you're right, ofcourse - printolade. which also happens to be EXACTLY what mr engineer is paind in, anyway. which is EXACTLY why he won't.
mircea_popescu: same government FOR THE SAME REASONS and in the same ways gives all these niggers the house.
mircea_popescu: whether it's through path a or path b, purely decorative difference.
mircea_popescu: in otherwords, how did you say "ei se fac ca ne platesc, noi ne facem ca muncim" in russian ?

phf: "Trisquel [...] derived from another distribution, Ubuntu." ?
phf: did we do the whole debian as gentoo thing conversation?
danielpbarron is currently dealing with a debian problem: stuck on "Reading package lists... 0%" and don't want to reboot as per top search result for this string of text
trinque: I've seen all manner of apt-fucked
phf: i'll have to lookup relevant materials, since it's not in logs, but there are some threads on debian (or maybe duvian or whatever it's called) mail, that explain how to setup a semi automated build of deb packages, and there's some equivalent of useflags that let you control the deb build. so can rebuild entire stack into own package repository, have a decrufted b-a apt source, that's not necessarily audited, but at the very least
phf: doesn't have freedesktop/systemd/...
trinque: phf: deedbot sits atop devuan, hasn't offended me just yet
trinque: yeap, my attempt at providing a gentoo recipe was instructive.
trinque: "But this works for me every single time!!"
BingoBoingo: <danielpbarron> >> This comes Trump's << comes as* ? << ty fxd
phf: i think there are basically 3 parts to custom stack: sane linux, stock tree, pkg system
phf: terry davis dat shit. "no framebuffer, no vesa, VGA!"
phf: a useful framebuffer is backed by the card specific driver
trinque: asciilifeform: yep that recipe I have is just fine for a dev box
trinque: it's what I used for my own dev environment, still have that partition around
trinque: asciilifeform: baffled, as it used a genkernel with all modules by default
trinque: I tend to boot with that, then produce a custom kernel config with localyesconfig once booted
trinque: and strip out module loading
phf: beos had that systematized, was really handy
phf: or i guess a microkernel by design, rather then "we don't do microkernels, except now we basicall do"
phf: usg claims word ownership
trinque: looks to be a deliberate backdoor
trinque: and is perhaps (heh!?!!) not the only one
trinque: to your point about "why is there no pruning tool for this thing"

mircea_popescu: asciilifeform admire the craftiness of imbecility. derp was here asking about wanting to DO it a week or so ago, etc.
