williamdunne: mircea_popescu: But I don't see how that makes it just
cazalla: i guess women don't want to hear libertarian shit on okcupid
EllieAsksWhy: Yes, Adlai, reddit is inferior to IRC. reddit has an IRC but I haven't used it. I don't trust Facebook. I don't use it, and like to say that it steals your soul. I sort of kind of believe that, in a casual sense, not a real one. It would be blasphemous to suggest it was really true!
assbot: I don't understand tracking · Issue #100 · keybase/keybase-issues · GitHub ... ( http://bit.ly/1PJGZuz )
mircea_popescu: here's another thing that doesn't work : "The worst part, is Torrie Fischer is competent with PGP 4. My advice to her, is" << the problem being that i can readily see her cv, but i don't see yours. from whence do you give her advice ? this jars.
asciilifeform: i don't want to buy the office chair that is successful in cheaply making infinite copies of itself into the aeons. not unless it also parks my arse well.
gabriel_laddel: (I'm assuming you're saying "why don't you think they don't - do tree traversals")
gabriel_laddel: I don't because it's stupid
gabriel_laddel: I use strings all the time, don't use regexes
gabriel_laddel: yeah, I don't see the analogy to perl
asciilifeform: 'certain languages support serious programmers, and others don't. e.g., I don't think it is at all possible to become a serious programmer using Visual Basic or Perl. if you think hard about what Perl code will do on the borders of the known input space, your head will explode. if you write Perl code to handle input problems gracefully, your programs will become gargantuan: the normal failure mode is to terminate with no id ☟︎
assbot: Logged on 25-04-2015 22:28:04; Naphex: anyway, what i was saying is you take steps 'secure' or tape your stuff always, and you don't feed raw data to your apps if you can filter the input beforehand.
mircea_popescu: http://trilema.com/category/bitcoin/ shows the lot but i suppose you don't like html cruft ?
Naphex: see i don't have to care
asciilifeform: decimation: kakobrekla linked to a farm which takes orders even now, but i don't have the url handy
Naphex: anyway, what i was saying is you take steps 'secure' or tape your stuff always, and you don't feed raw data to your apps if you can filter the input beforehand. ☟︎

trinque: not that I don't own many of them
mod6: i don't even see the paravirtualized guest support option
mod6: alright. pretend i don't know what any of that means.
williamdunne: I guess what missing from it is that I still don't see why the increase in block-size, or easier access to running a semi-node is inherently bad
mircea_popescu: (what i mean is, you don't get the option ot have some here and none there. if you have some, it's everywhere)
williamdunne: I've already been blocked from Max Keisers twitter, seems like I should be proud of it - I don't even remember sending a tweet to him

mircea_popescu: i don't feel bad for this sort of "decent guy".
trinque: but yeah, I don't expect to live this way forever
mod6: I'm probably just dumb. How can I setup an instance with a clean stage3. All I see that are available are AMI's. And I'm worried that they've got things/tools pre-installed that I don't want to have in there. This instance will be a build/testing server for R.I. development.
mircea_popescu: i don't think i ever played with a male.
mircea_popescu: http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=24-04-2015#1109683 << that, tied for preminence with "cleaning out the idiots". and i don't as much mean the random derps in the forum going about their usual derpage, as i mean people like the scam foundation, and the power rangers, and so on. ☝︎
mircea_popescu: http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=24-04-2015#1109646 << i don't think so. it has an effect on its relevancy for mining, not on mining itself. ☝︎
williamdunne: I still don;t understand who the hell would launch that from inside the US? Like srsly. Its not even opsec at this point, its just about not being goddam mentally handicapped

mircea_popescu: usually driven by "but mo-ooo-ooom!!11 i don't wanna protect my underskirt, i wanna climb in the cherry tree!!1"
mircea_popescu: my life as a lonelier woman who hates herself. There's no winning. There's no way out. I'm sad enough already, I don't need my life to get any worse. People say "it gets better" but that isn't true in my case. It gets worse. Each day I get worse. That's the gist of it, that's why I feel like killing myself. Sorry if that's not a good enough reason for you, it's good enough for me."
williamdunne: I don't have any statistics about performance but I've found it works pretty well. I've only done basic clustering before using it tbh, doing things like sharing secrets for authentication

diatonic: ben_vulpes, I don't really know why I lurk in here. I used to be pretty active in #bitcoin-otc and joined this channel some time ago.
williamdunne: Because I don't have to talk to everyone using bitcoin at the same time nor put up with their noise (in particular, anyway)
williamdunne: ben_vulpes: Of course it matters, its a network. More people = more useful. I don't see how that can be anything but an objective truth.
trinque: I don't support anything, much less this
pete_dushenski: i don't, i could've just as well said 'like i want a hole in the head'
williamdunne: I don't see why you're saying that you'd want the transaction capabilities tied to the number of coins issued though
mircea_popescu: i don't mean know. i mean own.

mircea_popescu: i don't think i ever met a girl i actually liked whose parents were not poor.

ben_vulpes: i don't even know what opsec means either
ben_vulpes: "Dear God, please don't use Pond for anything real yet. I've hammered out nearly 20K lines of code that have never been reviewed. Unless you're looking to experiment you should go use something that actually works."
ben_vulpes: i don't get the windows line
ben_vulpes: !up Citizenfive anyways, welcome. don't mind me, i'm just the court clown.
Citizenfive: oh I don't care if it's _the_ "OTR" but that sort of key architecture is desirable
Citizenfive: I seem to have improperly conveyed the degree of importance I place on this "word" stuff. It's not particularly important; don't worry about it.
Citizenfive: That'd be interesting, as I don't believe either of those.
trinque: Citizenfive | What I'm saying, if I'm saying *anything*, is that the words don't matter. << I used to think this; lately I consider it an autoimmune disorder caused by lifetime immersion in symbolic shit ☟︎☟︎☟︎
Citizenfive: What I'm saying, if I'm saying *anything*, is that the words don't matter. And as a word, democracy seems to have too many contradictory definitions to be especially useful as a descriptor. If US = democracy, well, that's not good. If Switzerland = democracy, that's a bit better, though the consensus is that beast is a "DIRECT democracy".
Citizenfive: anyway I don't want to get lost into semantics; I think most here understand whatever system of governance the US has, it manages to masquerade as a democracy, and isn't a good system. Whatever that says about the word is less important to me.
assbot: Logged on 17-04-2015 23:32:14; Citizenfive: Yeah. Seemed to have a specific reason, too. I don't expect I'm a regular conversation topic.
Citizenfive: I guess that, and more critically, amoung its users, I see too much overreliance on it (which is to say, people who don't fully grip the CAPS&LIMS of it as a tool)
