i'd guess 1/4 or less of nodes are publicly adressable

i never noticed this previously, it had to wait to be found empirically. really oughta be fixed, and pretty simple patch.
mircea_popescu:
i think it's already evident this, in the serialization discussion
mircea_popescu: (better than "
i'll wait to patch it in directly at the right time" because the "right time" mioght never come seeing how the people in question don't know what you're patching)
mircea_popescu:
i was thinking, has major chances of being pulled as a patch into eulora-something.

I packed the above code as a .vpatch on top of the previous genesis .vpatch mainly for keeping my original promise of showing this being built as it is with detours and corrections on the way. Otherwise this could equally well be a genesis in itself given how radically it changes pretty much everything in there. Nevertheless, at least for now - meaning until a final version is achieved and a regrind makes perhaps sense -

mircea_popescu: dumb as fucking rocks also, and
i would like to introduce mission street in sf into the record as exhibit fucktards.
mircea_popescu: 90% of the time
i try to read something, the attempt fails ; and almost always it is because the author is insulting my smarts, not my intelligence. they're all such intelligent men, from sf writers to hayek to what have you. the problem is that they're not smart.
☟︎ mircea_popescu: which
i stand behind, ftr ; and it is also what informs the "if they had any sense -- they'd be here" stance. the fact that rando can't cut through fetlife to find the meat / can't cut through internet to find trilema / can't cut through femstate to find bitcoin / can't cut through pantsuitism to find republic etc specifically means that rando is dull, ie, not smart.
☟︎☟︎ mircea_popescu: Mocky
i actually distinguish between smarts (the reductive ability, that powers "
i suspect there's no such thing as intelligence", and typified perhaps best by d. kyon) and "intelligence" (the constructive ability, that powers "more loc, more tech, more future", and typified perhaps best by "fm-2030" ).

i have this inorganic polymerization model which permits me to predict the behaviour of calcium-based matrices and also predicts that should you replace the calcium with strontium, the oxigen content cvadruples ans there's need for an item extra in there that's just like aluminum for so and so reasons"
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> in usa just walking through that door would be a $1000+ ding << For completeness, there was also the option to have a "radiodoctor" do a house call, but
I figured the intel gathering opportunity on the hospital at a time when
I'm a least several days removed for threat of mortality would be the higher return option
mircea_popescu: we have mechanical model for strength, and
i can make predictions BEFORE the fact, and built entirely on measurements unrelated to "please lift this weight"
mircea_popescu:
i do not belive, since we're doign disbeliefs, in this starry-eyed view of intelligence where it's a gift, like ambidexterity, or a property, like penis size, and "life can enhance or dishance it".
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform
i have little confidence in this "all humans born human" hopes.
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu:
I said no,
I don't need the note. If
I go back
I'll get one the next time
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform douchebag is pretty much the only thing
i don't really want. "Once complete the children are sorted by score, and the bottom thirdi is sold by open outcry (the males are neutered first)." and all that.
BingoBoingo:
I was also asked if
I wanted a note to take off from work, because apparently that is what 80% of the other ER walkins were there for
mircea_popescu:
i mean, 1993 was cycle 1. then there was the wikitardia thing, alongside "slashdot" and "fark" and so on. that was defo 2.
mircea_popescu: in fact, 80% or more of what passes fro "creative" these days, ie shitty cable shows and "stand up comedy" consist entirely of "recognition porn". turtles visiting tokyo, "hey, turtle from osaka, you too thought the tram was a large dog ?!" "yes turtle from kyoto, that's exactly what
i thought when
i first saw a tram, did you think so too ?!" "yes this is a brilliant idea to think".
mircea_popescu: apparently there's nothing quite as destructive of the human mind than insistently inculcated & socialized conviction that "there's a lot out there".
i liveblogged how this fucked up argentina, (

i would guess about 60% or so of 2?F "sub" girlies exist on fetlife only as the fruit of the overactive imagination of a beta "M" somewhere.
mircea_popescu: "littlems_muffin 21F sub 6d Your fantasy of obtaining already serving woman is fucking sad mate! Not even close to a reality. Go fuck yourself instead. Do not disrespect me again. Master Ivan" "LordMPofTMSR 37M Master 6d Oh sorry,
I thought it was Igor."
mircea_popescu:
i have nfi what you're talking about. as far as
i know ~all white kids are vaccinated around 1 year and then right before kindergarten ; and have since about 1920.

I can easily picture that really; at any rate,
I got otherwise at least 2 shades darker after the few days by the ocean and even now (so...2 months later)
I'm still darker than my natural shade
diana_coman: ahahah; well,
I did get sunburn on my shoulders in Costa Rica but mainly because of being in the water most of time while at the beach
diana_coman:
I can say the same, but honestly, it was never enough protection against the sun (and fwiw
I have thick hair anyway)
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform:
I did wear the UV filters today

I'll keep up this approach of published-even-if-stumbling small steps so on one hand there is something concrete to shoot down if needed and on the other hand we can correct any trouble early on, hopefully
mircea_popescu: things are kinda deliberately made to dovetail with ada, so
i hope they do and if they don't we fix.

i did there, because those of your subfields that are arrays, have strictly bounded sizes

I'll see re serializing
diana_coman: at any rate when

I might come and whine loudly if
I get stuck

☟︎ bvt: thanks,
i see what you mean. the Interfaces.C.Strings.New_String() comments explicitly say that the heap allocation is necessary for the large strings, which is not the case for vpatch temporary file names.
a111: Logged on 2018-10-15 19:13 bvt: ave1, can you expand on getting rid of string allocations?
I see a way to get rid of it for Mode, but not for the Path argument.
i can move its c-string from heap to stack, but that would be it. anyhow,
i will revise this aspect.
lobbes: yeah, that makes sense. Ol' causes and purposes. The only cause
I can see right now for separate bot is if wanting to keep it on separate box

mircea_popescu:
i guess the idea is,
i dunno what you're trying to achieve ?
lobbes: but maybe you have a point.
I gotta noodle on it. there's a balance somewhere
lobbes: well
I'd retire lobbesbot once everything rewritten.
lobbes: but there's still the !Qlater tell, the #eulora log-quoting, #eulora log search, etc.
I guess
I figured why not take the opportunity to organize vastly different functionalities into separate bots. (e.g. all the logger-related functionality in one bot, auction/ticker-announce/price-history in auctionbot, everything-else in 'miscbot')

I get logbot-voicing figured out
I'm thinking of setting up a general purpose 'miscbot' for such things as the later-tell and the duckduckgo search.
I'll try and work this into the later-tell feature

I'll start working to get the voicing figured out for auctionbot and bring it in here.
