<asciilifeform> shinohai: there's maybe half a mil of these on whole continent, and nobody's building any moar of'em
<< My hometown has large swaths of brick single family homes built to house workers for now defunct "my pet goat" condensed milk plant.
BingoBoingo:
<asciilifeform> shinohai: recall how edison was genuinely convinced that the fyootoor of furniture was... ferrocement
<< Plenty of people here living the complete ferrocement like without the roof.
hanbot:
<asciilifeform> i'm surprised they dun build from ~that~ yet.
<< i met a chick from the architecture dept at the nat'l uni here whose professed goal was to see all places with native bamboo build with it exclusively. possibly the spiders get her first, but otherwise, "coming soon"...

http://btcbase.org/log/2019-01-16#1887514 << In order of structural value: Spruce (not in the botanical sense), Douglas Fir (also not in the Botanical sense), and Southern Yellow pine are usually the options in contemporary US building. None of these woods like ground contact, and yet all they get to prep them for ground contact is a soak in some copper salts. After 10-20 years when the salts wash out the sill plate will turn into sponge.

http://btcbase.org/log/2019-01-15#1887248 << Yeah, I kinda missed my window here. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get a chance to come down there. Perhaps sometime this year yet, but will look into it and discuss it again at a later time.

<asciilifeform> iirc mod6 has expressed a desire to fly the next crate. if he still wants, can haz; otherwise asciilifeform will fly it.
<< Given the ben_vulpes courier run I would like mod6's first trip here to be lower stakes. Couriering is a skill.

<asciilifeform> they gave unmatched 'bang per buck'
<< Especially when the MySQL storage engine is changed to the WP appropriate option

<mircea_popescu> i ~also~ find it peculiar your dc wouldn't have alerted you in case of thermal trip. because in general they have sensors.
<< There was a ground fault alarm tripped in the datacenterś fire supression system over the weekend, but the time doesn's line up with the beginning of this reset crisis.
BingoBoingo:
<mircea_popescu> the one concerning bit is whether indeed pizarro still owns that box or not.
<< This very much concerns me

<mircea_popescu> it strikes me as the height of strange that the balance sheet seems to paint a rosy picture whereas management communication is bleak and dour. these shouldn't contradict so, which is it ?
<< The cash flow situation concerns me. Our fiat denominated holdings have appreciated. As you assessed earlier our primary asset is a healthy customer relationship with the (very rare) independent datacenter. Maintaining that

http://btcbase.org/log/2019-01-14#1886692 << I've been digesting your initial blawg post, and then that last thread. If I were to summarize what I'd read I'd say the short-term path is clear: start automating, and then reporting on metrics gathered. In the best case it seems the only way to generate enough sales. In the worst case you will have at least produced some meaningful statistics

BingoBoingo:
<diana_coman> how do you see that working before pizarro starves?
<< I worry. The more I think about the marketing and trying to make a plan for marketing I worry. I am in the unhappy position of being out of my depth on the marketing problem, repeating my concerns about my lack of marketing prowess, trying to apply advice as I can while juggling other concerns, and not getting any feedback on incentives that can bring other people in

<diana_coman> BingoBoingo, specifically and a bit of follow-up on trinque's point above: pizarroisp.net/2019/01/ has this tiny paragraph starting with "action items" - was/is that fleshed out anywhere?
