mod6: like i said, i'll stfu, and write up a post, will include my kernconf.
mod6: maybe?
mod6: ahh, yeah mine is i5 also fwiw.
mod6: mircea_popescu: indeed overripe now, point taken, Sir.
mod6: anyway, I apologize for not reporting sooner, just thought that I could emerge victorious one of these attempts. I'll stfu and go to work on a blog with more deets.
mod6: i should also mention that shinohai's working cuntoo is a APU box - not intel.
mod6: on the bright side, i thought that my inital new SSD i ordered for cuntoo was just bad in some way, so i went and bought another. so now i have a spare :]
mod6: but, again, maybe it's this intel hardware. not sure.
mod6: i've actually been lucky enough to have shinohai's ear this whole time too, who actually has a working cuntoo.
mod6: i'll go to work on a blog post, this weekend. will try to capture all the details.
mod6: just because I can't even get it to boot, so just left that aside for the time being.
mod6: i should add, that my output genesis has never verified with his original sig, i admit to not even trying his new sig posted in his comment section.
mod6: after lastnights mis-adventure; i'm out of ideas, so I'll stop banging on it and make a post.
mod6: yeah, im long overdue for a blog on the thing.
mod6: and a whole bunch of slight variants trying to unfuck the thing.
mod6: yup, exactly.
mod6: it has a name, 'trb-test1', a simple gentoo box to run trb test builds.
mod6: right, i agree, so i don't think it's ~cuntoo~ per se... but imagine this. I've had gentoo running on that hardware for nearly a year since i bought it.
mod6: well, I didn't want to send people down rabbit holes, but now im at the point where I think I can't get any further with out more help.
mod6: the list goes on and on.
mod6: Anyway, I think it maybe just hates my iron for some unknown reason. Obviously, I leaving out a lot of details here, but i've tried everything, different boot loaders, minor adjustments to fstab, a working kernel, map and initrd from the working gentoo (ON THE SAME BOX)... a hand built initrd.
mod6: Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
mod6: not 10 full days, but certainly 10 days of approx. 2 hour sessions each day. i've been hooking up null modem cables to capture kernel panics... i've taken to hacking trinque's scripts, just about everything to try to conquer this type of error:
mod6: fwiw, I've been working on trying to get cuntoo working for 10 days.
mod6: No clue, tbh.
mod6: Ah, thanks asciilifeform.
mod6: Take that, Nancy.
mod6: Lords and Ladies of TMSR~, The State of Bitcoin Address for January 2019: http://therealbitcoin.org/ml/btc-dev/2019-February/000323.html
mod6: Alright, I'm gonna get back to working on this SoBA. Good talk.
mod6: *thumbsup*
mod6: aha, for sure.
mod6: sure. alright, I'll reach out for info/advise/help on that when I get there.
mod6: aha. cooool.
mod6: Ok, well, I'll cross that bridge when I've got a cuntoo, and then I'll start to re-think the entire build proces for all who have cuntoo.
mod6: Ah ah.
mod6: I'm currently building out a Cuntoo (have had a minor issue with my kernel not booting correctly, but will work on that soon), and will use that + ave1's musl to build the keccak v tooling, and then TRB. Which will also go into the upcoming changes to the HOWTO Guide.
mod6: No rush, I appreciate it. I've got some more work ahead of me (to be outlined in tomorrow's STATE OF BITCOIN ADDRESS) before I pick a cut-over date for the website, but having Lordshipt blessing is a big step in the right direction.
mod6: Yeah, the regrind is straight forward, save the part where I axed out the UTF-8 char out of the genesis.
mod6: That would be awesome, I'd love to at least get as many lords to sign off as possible. I know it's a big ask for all though. There's a lot there.
mod6: (for TRB)
mod6: I need Lordship review of my Keccak Vpatches.
mod6: Can I ask a favor of you? You got any room on your conveyor for February?
mod6: Well, as it should be, really.
mod6: *nod* I've got that part sorted, just gotta allocate a bit here and there. Hardest part is just starting.
mod6: Goal is to go through it all and sign.
mod6: Naw, but I wanna draw out the full-adder and things such as that. I want a very, very strong foundation so when I get into the later chapters, it's all in the front of my mind so I'm not getting lost.
mod6: Yeah, I kinda went through 1-4 quickly in the past. But now I wanna do the homework too.
mod6: Nothing distracting, just going at it slow and steady.
mod6: I'm even spending a few spare cycles on FFA chapter 1.
mod6: I've got some irons in the fire right now, but it feels good being productive on this TBF stuff.
mod6: oh f yeah, christ it was hot in there.
mod6 is in a good mood today.
mod6: lol. that girl in the cage was n00d iirc! ☟︎☟︎
mod6: more than the girl strapped to the cross, or the other one in the cage? :D
mod6: how's it goin' tonight?
mod6: oh yeah, forgot about the airfilter cleaning convo.
mod6: gotta get some miners in here
mod6: trying to generate some more heat
mod6: im building a cuntoo right now.
mod6: lol.
mod6: I can imagine.
mod6: Si?
mod6: my hands are so numb, can barely even type.
mod6: -19 deg F., tonight -30
mod6: aight.
mod6: Just combine that with your find/xargs and you should have it.
mod6: I think something like `grep -v "^$"` will give you all the non-empty lines from a file.
mod6: Fair enough, Sir.
mod6: I'll stake you if you wanna go and rub-elbows with these guys.
mod6: Ah, that works. Playing your betters will always improve your skills.
mod6: Ask some fellow republicans to play against you from time to time, I bet you'd find some takers.
mod6: Always a good way to sharpen your skills.
mod6: One is an actual clown, the other just pretends to be.
mod6: ah big dawgs eh
mod6: tight
mod6: Copied over my old data, stood apache back up, etc.
mod6: Will do. So far working great.
mod6: asciilifeform, BingoBoingo : Thanks!
mod6: Sounds good, thanks for your sweat today.
mod6: makes sense.
mod6: Ah, :/
mod6: Alright
mod6: Just was wondering if that was somehow making the thing barf.
mod6: aka 'rockchip-thermal' or is that in the default kern?
mod6: You recently added the thermal module right?
mod6: Just some food for thought over the next, say, 72 hours.
mod6: yeah.
mod6: I guess I should say, that I'm not sure exactly. But we should do a bunch of anaysis to see what would be the best play for capital allocation.
mod6: Envs that have at least 4 logical cores, 8 Gb RAM, and minimum 1Tb ssd.
mod6: We aught to look at costs of full size env's that would fit the bill for TMSR~ tooling. Then establish how many we would need & charge for to get out of the red.
mod6: understood.
mod6: I agree about the re-thinking of the 32 new boards.
mod6: *thumbsup*
mod6: ahem: *Pizarro
mod6: Ah. Hmm. I'll read up in #piz
mod6: If that chinese iron could get the job done for a reasonable rate.. could be pretty good offering.
mod6: Would be awesome if Pizzaro could sell iron that can run cuntoo + ffa + fg + trb out of the gate [ + others too, i.e. eulora, etc ]
mod6: Thx asciilifeform
mod6: Mornin' #trilema
mod6: sure.
