hanbot: spyked
i lolled; also "use the remaining to produce milk for four cows." might be better stated as "use the remaining to produce four cows' worth of milk." or similar

i do not
mircea_popescu: could, but
i was unspecifically suspicious when first saw in 90s
mircea_popescu:
i alwsays suspected that was an original english (or french) item stoletranslated to ro as the practice was at the time
spyked: but will drop teleschpenker a line and ask him if he's interested. (also, his rates, if any. from my pov the text is public and so on,
I'm not exactly in the translation profession)
spyked: anyway.
I was going to give the translation a shot either way, to work out translation muscle.
mircea_popescu: mats
i'd rather bet next 5 years includes giving up on intel as given up on army, rely on foreign intel orgs.
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform on and off.
i nearly got sun poisoning coupla days ago!
spyked: (and by publish
I mean "item that is in sore need of a review")
mircea_popescu: simple and sweet and
i actually can't see what possible protestations are available.
spyked: asciilifeform, ty!
I will study and put to use.
spyked: e.g. ada
I/O is not especially suited for this task, because it reads either characters or full lines; and reading characters doesn't eat newlines, so gotta rely on shell buffering for sane interaction.
spyked: single routine is probably boring (
I expect asciilifeform knows better than me how S-expr parsing works)
spyked: asciilifeform,
I considered doing that, but it's big enough (spread across 3-4 compilation units) that
I'll need to wrap in blog post and do some preliminary documentation work
spyked: right now the thing does a whole lot of consing (e.g. even when parsing), to avoid using ada run-time. but yeah, not posted,
I'm talking about ~non-existing item.
spyked:
I'm also keeping the idea of potentially embedding in other ada projects (e.g. adacoin?) in mind. but so far wrestling the ffa aspects were enough of a challenge. oh, and there's no gc yet, the thing leaks memory like hell. but that's not its biggest problem.
spyked: in other news,
I've been using most of my spare cycles lisping in ada. should be able to wrap up a blog post sharing a very minimal prototype (sane implem. of repl doing nothing but basic ops) in a few weeks. what
I've got now adheres to most of ffa constraints. the current version isn't very clean, but getting there...

I was firmly convinced your verdict would be "~shithole" (at least mircea_popescu's was some years ago).
spyked: hi! sorry for the radio silence.
I've been working myself out of various irl swamps lately (still in progress). following in read-only mode though.

i held ~10k tomes at home + 1.5mn or so held by the univ library for me
lobbes: BingoBoingo,
I actually do have root on the VPSen
I currently wield, but it would be nice to have my stuff on a box owned by someone
I trust. Anyways,
I'll keep my eyez to the logs as maths unfold
diana_coman: quite high
I'd say; dunno if it's odds or simply wishful thinking on my side though
a111: Logged on 2017-11-12 19:49 pete_dushenski: why do you always guess what other ppl will be interested in ?
i really do think you'd be surprised if you stopped with the commentary and just listed everything

I'd be interested in possibly renting some hosting as a VPS type of arrangement. My projects are low-overhead as well, though. currently,
I only pay ~$10USD per month for the two VPSes
I rent

☟︎ pete_dushenski: BingoBoingo:
i have very modest blog hosting needs at this point
pete_dushenski: phf:
i can see that. also, asciilifeform likely has a crate with spinning rust hdd's containing a vault's worth of digital tomes.
phf: pete_dushenski: that's a common misconception,
i suspect asciilifeform's library consists of like 200-300 books, that are heavily annotated, because other books, while really nice to have, is a pain in the ass to manage, so you just cull to the current essentials and somehow source whatever's missing later.

☟︎ mircea_popescu: was rather accomodating when
i ended up stealing his js to make trilema give selection urls.
lobbes: mircea_popescu, that is a good point. Aite,
I'll send that guy an email tonight. Worth a shot
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform ftr, iguana is eaten by teh natives, all through south america. kinda like frog
i guess.
mircea_popescu: lobbes dun think you're not still supposed to make teh market bot btw.
i'm... building redundancy :)
lobbes: interesting.
I may do some log-spelunking later on that
lobbes: nice..
I'm halfway considering if it'd be actually worth it to just try and make my own archiver at this point

i get a 128k binary turd.
mircea_popescu: wer you can now self-voice, so
i don't have to up you every half hour. say !!up to deedbot (in private message). it will give you something to decrypt. you decrypt it, then say !!v <string> and you're voiced.
wer: so what do
i do with the string
mircea_popescu: wer now take good care of it, if you manage to lose it nobody will believe "
i am really wer". well, except in your case we know what you look like, so there's that, but in general speaking...
rog: how do
i register it?
wer:
i've got the pgp keys
rog: how do
i connect to this chatroom from mirc?
mircea_popescu:
i find it always pays to come up with counterintuitive syntax!
wer: what do
i do after downloading the software
mircea_popescu: rog
i was talking to her ; connecting is a different matter, you need an irc client. such as possibly mirc ? xchat ?
i'm not sure what else is on windows.
rog: how do
i connect thru windows then with a pgp?
rog: yes read it in trilema,
i was browsing thru sites doing some research
wer:
i don't think
i do no
rog:
i was reading thru and found this channel, care to explain a little more about it please?
mircea_popescu: in other news, just added the 40th trilema header.
i suspect trilema is now the site with the greatest header biodiversity in the history of the internets.
ben_vulpes: mircea_popescu: bot thinks its up, nothing shows in logs, uses precisely same stack
i have running elsewhere
trinque:
I figured
I'd just ping shinohai to turn the person's shit off until new deposit
trinque:
i.e. shinohai registers his irc bouncer service as a subscription on deedbot, folks can subscribe and automatically pay him per interval
wer: anything else
i could do for bitcoin
wer: anything
i have to do to process it?
a111: Logged on 2017-10-13 01:54 mircea_popescu: trinque don't sweat it, she'll do it when
i tell her to, what. tomorrow, monday, whatever.
wer:
i'll go take it again
mircea_popescu: alternatively can base64 it and put it in p.bvulpes.com
i guess
wer:
i gotta upload it to a link right
davout: they apparently have a hardfork scheduled for tomorrow, with the goal of 'fixing' their diff adjustment algorithm,
i'm quite curious to see what happens

i have no intention of doing the whole thing myself, esp. not in near term, my hands are quite full )
ag3nt_zer0: so asciilifeform, if
I have stored safely the private key, do
i need the words to unlock that or something? or was it ok to discard the words?
ag3nt_zer0: so once
i had the keypair
i assumed the words unecessary
