mod6: <+shinohai> Have a tshirt made with that pic of mircea_popescu in Egypt, but replace the pyramids with burning ethereum logos. << the drawing of Mr. P. that was made a while back would be a good t-shirt.
mod6: #hardfork_timemachine
mod6: phf: ah oh yeah.
mod6: phf: cockli?
mod6: mircea_popescu: ok just holler.
mod6: <+asciilifeform> mod6: that thread wasn't even about living conditions, but about being a hermit << saw that. figured, "hey, i've got a crypt he can live in if he wants..."
mod6: so it works for the time being.
mod6: <+trinque> sometime I could hack another field onto it; I'm not certain I like the thing (or wikis) << I don't love wikis either, but we need a place for quick docs.
mod6: <+trinque> it uses the page title verbatim in the URL << ok i think I can just have shinohai change the page title then, thx!
mod6: offer stands if you ever get sick of the the 202
mod6: ahh lol fair enough.
mod6: you think i live in a teepee?
mod6: its got 4 walls!
mod6: <+asciilifeform> mircea_popescu: i lived in a ~hole for 20 yrs. << you can come live in my basement if you're tired of paying rent. i've even got a garden. :] ☟︎
mod6: ya
mod6: he has a van that says 'free candy'
mod6: mircea_popescu: btw, did you want me to change tb0t to use '!' instead of '%'?
mod6: <+asciilifeform> (though almost any imaginable mistake would result in MORE-phuctorable mods, vs less) << yeah this seems odd.
mod6: trinque ^ up a few lines :]
mod6: damnit. the spacebar on this thing is getting toast.
mod6: or shinohai ^ ?
mod6: trinqueis there a way to update this URL so it doesn't contain spaces? i.e.: http://wiki.deedbot.org/The%20Real%20Bitcoin
mod6: indeed
mod6: time for me to work on the SoBA already!
mod6: well. lol, it's almost over.
mod6: sheesh
mod6: where did June go?
mod6: sorry for the disruption. running fine, wanted to get the logging redirected as it should.
mod6: %h
mod6: ugh
mod6: huh. i thought it was a lisp deal
mod6: <+mircea_popescu> o hey check out the pretty blondy. << yah cute
mod6: shinohai: good work!
mod6: lol
mod6: this is not how that conversation went.
mod6: because initially, i wanted to simply just do low-S
mod6: im confused about why you're saying this now, as opposed to saying "we should be able to specify either!"
mod6: ok. so is this a 20/20 type of reflection here?
mod6: thermonuke what?
mod6: simple as that.
mod6: so. if i have a coin, i want to ensure that it gets sent.
mod6: i agree that about the legitimancy being the same across high/low -- but the rest of the network diddles.
mod6: mno. i disagree. at the time, Mr. P. was having trouble sending transactions. We want people to have the control to ensure their transaction is relayed, undiddled.
mod6: and we're still at a point where it's a leaf, so if it is decided that we ditch that as a "blessed" utility or necessary change, then we ditch and we don't have to do anything else.
mod6: and when i say 'we talked about this', I mean the high-S/low-S thing. ultimately we decided to give the operator the utility to specify which to use / or none, if they want their thing to be diddled.
mod6: np
mod6: http://dpaste.com/1HXXN6G.txt
mod6: how much?
mod6: So, we talked about this. At length.
mod6: ref: (14:57) <+mod6> if we needed to add code everytime these gnomes comeup with a new crapolade, that's all we'd ever be doing.
mod6: (19:01) <+asciilifeform> http://btcbase.org/log/2016-06-24#1489910 << not now, not ever. and ftr i did not like how we handled high-S thing, for this reason. ☝︎
mod6: haha remainia
mod6: <+hanbot> departugal ftw hahaha << lol
mod6: this the line you were looking for? (14:55) <+thestringpuller> TMSR rule of thumb: "Never accept non standard transactions" ?
mod6: <+mircea_popescu> nevertheless, we're not making the mistake of introducing coin taint, under any name. << totally agree.
mod6: if we needed to add code everytime these gnomes comeup with a new crapolade, that's all we'd ever be doing. ☟︎☟︎
mod6: thestringpuller: np.
mod6: thestringpuller: "bury" ?
mod6: <+mircea_popescu> cameron's career is definitely over. << spot on.
mod6: Anyway, whateves.
mod6: Yeah, something like that. I see it spit out a Phuctoring from 'Tony Lindgren', the top three qntras then the top four trilema's. But yeah, may have been triggered by new phuctorings - but the RSS feed didn't seem to update.
mod6: what's interesting about deedbot is that it spit that stuff out mostly @ ~5/min interval. but sometimes it did it ~10/min. at least by my timestamps.
mod6: mornin' o/
mod6: <+mircea_popescu> "open that can!" "Smash that wall!" etc. << heheh
mod6: nice
mod6: Framedragger: hey, thanks for all your work with the SSH keys. ☟︎

mod6: no need really.
mod6: im on the same thought track - yeah.
mod6: but like i said, something to be learned from this maybe
mod6: "As of this writing, it needs a log of RAM to work, typically upwards of 25Gigs." :D
mod6: yeah, looks like it. thought maybe i'd learn a thing or two by reading this code.
mod6: or looked at it?
mod6: anyone else ever used this?
mod6: this neat: https://github.com/znort987/blockparser

mod6: maybe there is something that can be written to heal the index.
mod6: this is almost worth me like creating a development environment where I can take a copy of chain and just do some playing around on there. even with a broken chain.
mod6: hmm.
mod6: ah, right.
mod6: was wondering if it makes some sense to do that.
mod6: asciilifeform: ok. im thinking about a new feature for your tool, or perhaps, a new tool altogether.
mod6: i'll be back around later. best of luck thestringpuller
mod6: was so glad to finally be done, as of 5 minutes ago. but now, have to go clean gutters :/
