mircea_popescu: (there isn't a general rule that all edges of the implication ball are part of this world. much like there's no guarantee that all the numbers coming out of a defined arithmetic operation are in the set of numbers you can display)

hanbot: can't learn once they're dead, neh?
mircea_popescu: then it turned out it wasn't.
mircea_popescu: mental health, i mean. the problem of "coffin liners" that asciilifeform discussed in the log is the direct counter to this. if they don't catch their death of cold, they lose track of themselves. this is not good. ☟︎
hanbot: not that i think the victim shouldn't be blamed in such cases. an exemption for eg francis bacon would've been nice tho.
mircea_popescu: it can't change in this short a timespan.
diana_coman: don't really know enough to say whether genetic really is simply the same for one thing
mircea_popescu: and that something... doesn't have to be a meteor strike. suppose one of the three changes sides and goes full republic. what then. ☟︎☟︎
mircea_popescu: hanbot for all the derpage about "liberation" etc - most women don't actually behave like they're old enough to be house servants.
mircea_popescu: leaving aside how they wouldn't pass the ridicule of the flauberts of that world.
mircea_popescu: i don't think one third of present "first world" folk would pass a rigorous sanity check as executed by 1916 mental health practitioners. ☟︎
shinohai: i didn't catch that, nice one hanbot
mircea_popescu: or maybe the day BingoBoingo wanders into a cunt and the cunt doesn't let him leave/

davout: asciilifeform: you didn't spot it, you failed the test
mircea_popescu: anyway, i can't recall who's wash ro ambassador. but traditionalyl that thing's a total rat's nest of spyppls.
shinohai: I am getting this error for some reason when generating ascii graphs: Warning: Layouter could only place 31 nodes/31 edges out of 31/34 - giving up at t.pl line 312.
shinohai: bwahaha I have a `t` bot working mod6
BingoBoingo: But there's no reason one can't read all of qntra in 2-3 months to catch up.
mircea_popescu: to quote teh typically frustrated esltard, "I like this game, but I have gotten as far as I can go...not the end of the game, mind you, I just can't get any farther. There is no information available anywhere about how to get past these obstacles. No point in playing anymore. "
shinohai: I haven't found much material this month. Reddit makes me vomit.

mircea_popescu: phf for THAT kind of pairing, you can't beat irc pairing. it's, in a sense, what i do all day, let "weaker" (ie, more specialised) pairs drive, i got a whole raft of 'em.
mod6: i don't feel the need to try to improve someone else.
mod6: phf: i can't stand watching her type. nor her formatting. and she doesn't really understand version control.
ben_vulpes: doesn't sound all bad

asciilifeform: 'oh you oughtn't want long keyz because only terrorists want >1024bit and fuckyou the STANDARD says...'
davout: and otherwise the pubkey doesn't fit
davout: because obviously DNS implementations won't let you use a value that's more than 0XFF chars long
mircea_popescu: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/622744/unable-to-install-python-without-sudo-access << apparently you don't need anything other than a writable dir.

mircea_popescu: i am not so convinced the past 60 years made the us any less of a culturally impoverished zimbabwe. it's still not a nation, nor much of a country. it doesn't even make much of a hotel, used to be a sort of cote d'azur, now more like jamaica.
mircea_popescu: so that didn't help ; or even hindered.
mircea_popescu: PeterL something like that. i wouldn't lend money in general, i'm not old and out of touch enough for that.
PeterL: so are you saying you wouldn't lend money at less than 5% because you have better things to do with it?
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform goes right back to the whole "gestapo couldn't keep abreast of all the phonecalls from the "innocent public" they kept receiving". just like policeman rarely works there as a job, and generally works there as a hedge against his own inferiority complexes, derps working for nsa work there mostly for to be working there.
mircea_popescu: PeterL even if they do, if you can't use capital more productively than 5% a year it's time to go back to school.
trinque: damned thing doesn't shit errors out anywhere
shinohai: Good, I didn't break it
shinohai: trinque: how do i insert a line break? <br> doesn't work it seems. ☟︎

indoor_jellyfish: I don't really understand how the C linker or the rest of the linux "toolkit" works (eg, chroot) and a detailed explanation of how I would arrange a set of files + binaries, bundle them and generate a minimal bootable USB would go a long way.
indoor_jellyfish: ie, it the current process doesn't package together the existing libraries / binaries /sources on disk into the bootable USB, and instead uses my re-write of "Roll your own ResueCD" (https://www.phenix.bnl.gov/~purschke/RescueCD/)
asciilifeform: ;;later tell mircea_popescu http://dpaste.com/247510B.txt << don't die of laughter.
mircea_popescu: so everyone who wants shit done by, say, btcbase, can put tickets in btcbase rather than put them here and hope they won't be forgotten in the log.
mod6: or if you know the id number, do `./t.pl tickets.txt pid <TICKET_ID>`
mod6: when you're done adding/editing or deleteing a ticket, just print them if you wish `./t.pl tickets.txt p`
mod6: you can just `./t.pl tickets.txt add` and it'll prompt you from the cli.
mircea_popescu: shinohai i guess so. prolly shouldn't delete much unless it's actually wrong.
mod6: <+mircea_popescu> hey mod6 if you have time today to hold my hand with your T, ima move the whole "hey x plox y" thing over. << hi! i should be available in a few hours for sure.

asciilifeform: davout: it isn't about the mathematics per se (though it is quite considerably trickier than rsa and this is ipso facto an evil)
davout: i've always been intrigued about this republican of ECC, is it because of something with the discrete logarithm problem underlying math i don't understand, or is it because of the particular way ECC crypto was developed?
asciilifeform: fromphuctor: and if i don't ?
mircea_popescu: so then fromphuctor : the dudes that made that aren't in the wot ; consequently, it's a scam.

asciilifeform: but when you fully grasp that 'i won't be napoleon' or whatever.

asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: mega-american ben franklin wrote, iirc, 'most folks are dead by 25 but many aren't buried until 75'
mircea_popescu: so they won't.
asciilifeform: well normally the problem is discussed in terms of 'lazy fuckers won't move'
mircea_popescu: and so there isn't.
asciilifeform: well yes, above is for the ones who didn't feed the cannon
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: which'd be the problem - that they don't move past it ?
mircea_popescu: fwiw, young males that aren't entirely dumb go almost universally through this phase of "fantasy busienss" where they keep doing various coups in their heads, start a carwash then buy a shoestore with the proceeds then trade that in for a chain fo restaurants etc etc etc. ☟︎☟︎
BingoBoingo: Because of that doesn't count
mircea_popescu: being part of a sovereign that doesn't recognize others ; and has the tank divisions, means that you don't need "passports".
asciilifeform: but realize, what's next, 'you didn't need passport to go to ru' 'when?' 'oh i went with wehrmacht in '41'

mircea_popescu: bug doesn't swarm because stupid ; bug swarms because at its size and so on, that's the only schelling point.
mircea_popescu: thread wasn't about bug acting on its own, thread was about "designated junkyards for this".
asciilifeform: well presumably you can't just walk into egypt or za
