mircea_popescu: patch out the test,
i guess. they're "clever" like that.
mircea_popescu: that they are.
i mean nothing wrong with having, and it's an achievement for say nicoleci to get herself one ; but
i wouldn't base design decisions on them.
mircea_popescu: "
i also wonder why all these rich folks gather round and laugh their asses at us, the goddess' chosen folk, all the damn time"
mircea_popescu: you know ? "
i wonder how come all holocaust survivors live so long".
trinque:
I've noticed some problems with tls connections on openbsd using sbcl and cl+ssl, here and elsewhere actually.
mats: and a special thanks to phf for his great www logger!
i use it every other day
lobbes: Besides that,
I agree;
I've yet to meet a recruiter who actually knew the job they were filling. For the most part they are just checking boxes on a list of 'keywords' the company's $hr-department gave them (and half the time that hr dept is also blindly following this list)

http://btcbase.org/log/2018-12-31#1883793 << Mocky, if you feel like moving to the cardboard-cutout city of charlotte there's a glut of 'high paying' 'move these meaningless bits around for robo hitler' jobs . If you want
I can give you a recruiter contact that worked for me
☝︎ lobbes: And while
I will continue the above described archive process, right now
I have too many irons in fire to work on making a proper archive.is substitute. (Imo, this'd be a perfect area for an hero to step in)
mircea_popescu: BUT THEN!!!
i had some raisins marinating in [the world's finest] rum overnight for hanbot's cozonac making ; and of course there were leftovers, and what can you do, they went into the batch of mint cocoa popsicles being brewed.
mircea_popescu: at which point our story starts to flesh out : one day in recent memory
i tried out this popsicle stick on apple juice, and holy hell it';s great. so now in an exploration mood,
i tried out the cocoa in them, and OMFG, excellent icecream!
mircea_popescu: yet there it sat, because really, who the hell drinks instant cocoa. until a few months ago,
i can't even recall when, we bought a popsicle kit. which, you know, take bimbos out to plastic joystore, what are you going to end up with, makeshift dildos and popsicle sets.
mircea_popescu: meanwhile in better living through technology : illo tempore
i had bought a tin of (actually very delicious) instant mint cocoa. cuz we were doing the whole check out the wonder of colonial goodies, and we pretty much brought all the britt things (fine brand of local chocolateria).
mircea_popescu: impossible to fucking evaluate, this. "the resume is getting me interviews [with the sort of people it gets me interviews with ; while not getting me interviews with the sort of people it doesn't get me interviews with. what am
i to do ?]".
Mocky: the resume gets me interviews. if
I wasn't getting interviews
I'd worry more about the resume.
diana_coman: Mocky,
I'd expect nothing really moves at this time of the year really; but anyway, for my curiosity: what gives then if "good interest" but no job?
Mocky: nicoleci, thx.
I get good interest from the resume so
I can't blame that. Just gotta keep with the crank winding.
nicoleci: Mocky, unfortunately,
i used to work hr - let me know if
i can help with your resume, interviewing or anything else.
Mocky:
I might as fucking well
Mocky: mircea_popescu, maybe it will in the morning.
I need some sleep

I added it to my list hanbot. technically all my time is free time now, but it tastes like shit
lobbesbot: Mocky: Sent 4 days, 6 hours, and 41 minutes ago: <hanbot> eulora bot feature request: ability to reject mining claims by type. for instance mining bn costs me moar than merely striking it with a tool;
i've gotta sink materials into it, whereas the resulting bn isn't worth the cost of those materials to me atm. 'ignore bn' or somesuch would be really useful.

☟︎ mircea_popescu: was there a more spurious empire in the history of africa ?
i get it, niggers can't compete with humans. but even among the chimps, they're competing ~the wrong end~.
BingoBoingo: In other news, one of the fucking Pichis tried walking a database. This morning
I was in the shower when the Porteria Electrica rang. The voice on the other end had a thick accent
I couldn't understand, so
I offered "un momento", put on clothes, and went to the door of the building...
trinque:
I've got a weechat built in my homedir too, so no rush or pressure on putting it systemwide.
BingoBoingo:
I'll put some time into reading up on weechat. The opposition is at the moment
I just don't know much about it.
trinque:
I can also just build it myself
I suppose
BingoBoingo: trinque:
I have not set up a Weechat before. If the hosting lacks something weechat needs,
I can consult with asciilifeform to remedy that so you can get weechat running.
I but
I am not familiar enough with weechat to do setups for customers myself at the present time.
trinque: BingoBoingo: at your convenience may
I have a weechat in my shared hosting account?
mod6: *nod*
I thought it was pretty speedy tbh.
mod6:
I'll make some blog posts (eventually) when
i go through setting up cuntoo and the musltronic GNAT from ave1.
mod6: Haven't had a chance to build it yet.
I will do so, and a cuntoo when
I get a chance.
mod6: The one caviat about the timings is that
I had to take out some of the inlines and pragmas to make it compile correctly. my GNAT 2015 version seems to have some funkyness to it -- we've actually discussed this before. Wanna just see a wotpaste?
mod6: asciilifeform: congrats btw!
I've been attempting very much not to read ahead or anything,
I still need to work through the chapters.
I did however build all of the latest keccak vpatches in your vtree.
I did some timings on my old test blox (core2duo) if you're curious.

I like very much that "pedantic" there
diana_coman: that being said,
I dug up and yes,
I even have an i7 around here
diana_coman: that's precisely why the slow pace -
I need a bit of fresher mind to get back and read through the rest of ffa

i.e. it CAN be written as a number of nand gates, with a 'funnel' at the top, to which you present a,b,c, e.g. 4096bit, numbers, and at the bottom in a little cup you get a^b mod c , and with NO UPWARDS FEEDBACK FLOW of information ,
i.e. answer comes after same interval of time always, and with strictly downwards signals.

i know, but not all vpatches are created equal.
mircea_popescu: the larger problem is "what is meant by a patch".
i doubt the item can survive ~even one~ major alterations. meanwhile "hey, you spelled theyre with an apostrophe" needn't be counted (but need be fixed)
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform the discussion spawned from me going "wtf is the POINT of even counting to 255, nobody can fit such in head" that then merged into "how do you know ?" which resulted in the predictable "
i wonder how the fuck does ~he~ know"
mircea_popescu: nature found 273.15
i suppose the same way it computed ocean level ; but we're not quite equal to nature.
mircea_popescu:
i'm not even sure how that kelvin thing's supposed to work ; notably bothj knuth and mod6 attempted it, but the problem with starting with a number is that you don't know what to pick.
mircea_popescu: anyway, sorry if
i inadvertently rained. tis indeed great news, and it being expected great news dun detract from greatness.
mircea_popescu: Turns out, Kochs pile of shit, despite eschewing constant time arithmetic, and being implemented in Overflowandcrashlang
loses the footrace, when given a full-width modular exponentiation (
i.e. one where it cannot cheat by skipping over leading zeroes.)
