mircea_popescu: why the fuck is shaking your head yes called "nodding" and what the fuck do you call shaking your head no in english ?!
mircea_popescu: it shjould be yodding and nodding!
shinohai: English .... the language of smacktards
shinohai: I like how nodding is used to indicate the jerky head movements of drug-addled persons.
asciilifeform: asciilifeform is envious, ~everybody seems to know the detailed zoology of dopeheads, but him
asciilifeform: i dun think i ever even saw one up close.
shinohai: asciilifeform should watch "Breaking Bad" for a primer in drug culture and dopehead zoology.
asciilifeform: it's on the list.
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform forget tv, put up an ad on airbnb/craigslist/whatever the "Conference" dorks favour this year.
shinohai: I'm not a television person much, but it is quite entertaining. There is even a campy Spanish-language remake (Shot in Colombia)
shinohai: or yeah, just rent out rooms to redditards, observe locally
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: i don't have, or want, a giraffe in my house either.
asciilifeform: though they may be interesting to look at once.
mircea_popescu: i wonder how one rides a giraffe.

ben_vulpes: shinohai: i miss the spine i had that worked
ben_vulpes: hard to give a shit about database rows when seeing through my own pain is a task in my life all of a sudden
mircea_popescu: what happened to you ?
shinohai: Seems *all* columns are a pain in the ass, even spinal ones
ben_vulpes: as far as i can tell, i brushed my teeth
mircea_popescu: o.O
mircea_popescu: sciatic ?
ben_vulpes: then found myself on the floor
ben_vulpes: yeah not unlikely
ben_vulpes: i've never been...straight
ben_vulpes: hey at least i can remember how jokes are supposed to be shaped
ben_vulpes: that's an improvement over this morning
mircea_popescu: sleep on a plank.
shinohai: If I were near your area, I'd gladly send over the Asian acupuncture/massage girl that does my therapy.
shinohai: Woman can walk on your back and do amazing shit.
ben_vulpes: nobody is walking on my back in this state shinohai.
mircea_popescu: why, it's broken anyway
ben_vulpes: mm, great point
shinohai: I'm telling ya, I had days where I could hardly sit still and 5 minutes with this woman is like Jesus touched you or something.
ben_vulpes: shinohai: the pain feels like its in the discs
mircea_popescu: well, seeing a doctor tomorro or anything ?
ben_vulpes: i've had great success in relieving spasms from the scoliosis, but what i need is less inflammation right now
ben_vulpes: (with acupuncture)
mircea_popescu: so let an ice golem walk on your back
ben_vulpes: mircea_popescu: "momma called the doctor and the doctor said (yeah kid your back's just as fucked as it's ever been), 'that'll be six thousand dollars'"
ben_vulpes: but if you know of a good ice golem i'd love an introduction
shinohai: I prefer Asian women that accept payment in toolbar removal from chrome caused by too much clicking on facebook.
ben_vulpes: unrelatedly, anyone besides me ever try compiling trb with -std=c++11?
mircea_popescu: ben_vulpes you may seriously consider coming over. the doctors here are good and cheap, for that 6k you can fly back and forth half dozen times.
ben_vulpes: aye aye
ben_vulpes: i am very suspicious of back doctors fwiw
mircea_popescu: whyssat ?
ben_vulpes: i have seen too many spines ruined at the hands of people who suggest fixes that "might work, might leave you crippled! we don't even know what's wrong to begin with!"
mircea_popescu: ah
shinohai: ben_vulpes will then become a Stephen Hawking and only be able to communicate using a fuckgoats strapped to his wheelchair.
ben_vulpes: my back problems stem from the scoliosis, and growing lax about maintaining muscle tone on both sides of the spine typically
mircea_popescu: i dunno, am not an expert. from a management pov it's a sound move, fly here and talk to person rather than try and find portland indian.
ben_vulpes: sure, i can see it
mircea_popescu: otherwise, he's a fool who'll vouch for doctors or whores.
ben_vulpes: no vouching for whores?
ben_vulpes: whyssat?
mircea_popescu: not even anything to do with them, too much variance in customer material. maybe you got a dick growing out your ear, what's she to do.

asciilifeform: unless i am missing something.
mircea_popescu: apparently that's not how it's implemented here.
mircea_popescu: and i see a legitimate function for this implementation. maybe my idea of "you've been gone too long" is "j no longer recalls you". what's the problem with that ?

asciilifeform: mats if you are tuned in, please write in.
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: my problem is that the period in which it 'does not recall' is 1) random 2) unknown.
mircea_popescu: right.
asciilifeform: which makes the thing a roulette.
mircea_popescu: quite.
mircea_popescu: gotta face the facts : logs are fragmentary ; memory is fragmentary. you won't have perfect recall for physics reasons.
asciilifeform: logs are fragmentary but converge to completeness.
mircea_popescu: as they did above.
asciilifeform: and yes, anybody can grep. in-chan commands give a useful added flavour, imho, however.
asciilifeform: ( recall the thread re in-chan shell for l1 folx ? i still think it would be neato )

mod6: nice
ben_vulpes: in other eerie coincidences of manufactured life, this coffee cup weighs about as much as the water it holds
pete_dushenski: also eerie [brasilian style], "Couple who went ahead with their wedding after a hitman walked in and SHOT three relatives say they were 'trying to make the best of it' but were upset 'so much food was wasted' after guests fled" http://archive.is/W1ZOs
pete_dushenski: which is pretty much on the same level as richard branson's new 'dyslexic-only sperm bank' http://archive.is/bIyns
mircea_popescu: hopefully the nato world doesn't run out of gimmicks.
mircea_popescu: #1 raw material for "World economy" !

danielpbarron: http://btcbase.org/log/2017-04-12#1642660 << i don't use mouthwash, brush and floss once a day (with regular non vibrating brush, and i reuse the floss untill it splits apart or breaks) -- hadn't been to the dentist in over 8 years; went in last year and they tell me my teeth are in great shape considering, although i did have to get some cavities fixed (mostly in wisdom teeth which is expected. and yes i still have my wisdom teeth ☝︎☟︎
a111: Logged on 2017-04-12 17:13 ben_vulpes: also this mouthwash thing, does one really want to nuke the commensal population regularly?
danielpbarron: also i avoid sugar, drink mostly tea.

deedbot: danielpbarron rated Skydragon 1 << my Euloran slave
diana_coman: uhm, what's with the wisdom teeth+expected?
danielpbarron: apparently they go bad easier
mircea_popescu: this is so.
diana_coman must be some exception then
mircea_popescu: women get wisdom teeth ?!
diana_coman: ?
danielpbarron: they are just harder to reach with the brush. if you take the time to carefully brush them regularly then they should be fine. or that's how i understand it
diana_coman: ah, that makes some sense
mircea_popescu: nah, they're just cruddier stuff. half the time they don't even grow the right way. as they're inclined, they get transversal pressure either from the bite or from the jaw/other teeth (which are stronger) or both.
mircea_popescu: on the long term this pressure kills them as sure as sugar. ☟︎
asciilifeform: 'Dyslexia has been a massive help for me personally; it makes me think creatively and laterally, two major factors that helped me create Virgin and build a global brand. Dyslexia is a different way of thinking, not a disadvantage and it shouldn’t stop young people from achieving success and striving to make their dreams a reality. Just look at what these amazing dyslexic people have achieved…' << lol!!
diana_coman: ah, position might be a thing
