skinnkavaj: pankkake: Put a bet up, first to go up 5x in value from today. Bitcoin or Litecoin?
mircea_popescu: "bitcoin will reach 1000 usd before litecoin will reach 50 cents again" ?
skinnkavaj: What will go in ten times in fiat value from today, bitcoin or litecoin?
pankkake: another issue is that you don't need a lot of volume to make those things move (perhaps restrict to a minimum volume)
pankkake: I guess you could use btc-e as a source, it has both exchangeable to fiat
skinnkavaj: pankkake: Lol, yeah go ahead try to start pump LTC on btc-e
ozbot: BitBet - Litecoin to rise above .04 BTC before 2014
skinnkavaj: pankkake: That's not the bet I am after
pankkake: well it did see wild swings these last few days
skinnkavaj: pankkake: Wild swings, yeah 0.1-0.3 USD
mircea_popescu: so then there you have it. that bet only asks for ltc to go up 4x raher than 5x
pankkake: it moved a few times between .008 BTC and 0.012 BTC if I'm not mistaken
skinnkavaj: What is going to go up 10x in value first, bitcoin or litecoin?
mircea_popescu: i dunno anyone cares enough to bet on that one. seems like random noise.
skinnkavaj: mircea_popescu: No, if LTC go up 10x in value today it will be 0.1 LTC/BTC, not 0.25 LTC/BTC.
pankkake: if bitcoin value stays right where it is
skinnkavaj: pankkake: Yes, but as stated. I want the bet to be in USD value.
mircea_popescu: skinnkavaj dude stop drowning yourself in words. if you think ltc will go up as high as 0.04 btc, you can take the 10:1 odds against on that bet and make out like a pirate.

skinnkavaj: pankkake: If you think LTC will be dead in one year you must be blind. I feel sorry for you.
assbot: [HAVELOCK] [AM1] 1 @ 0.88 BTC [-]
pankkake: it's bitcoin for people who want to be early adopter or want to use their gaming pcs, which is bad enough. but even ignoring that, I don't see anything compelling
pankkake: "dead" is also an empty statement
benkay: and 1 year an arbitrary timeframe
benkay: all wrapped in a lovely strawman
pankkake: but perhaps you should look at the history of altcoins
pankkake: and feelings shouldn't have anything to do with that
skinnkavaj: pankkake: LTC is the first good copy cat of BTC. And like everyone know the first copycat always succeeds, while the others fail. Look at feathercoin, I don't see any future there.
skinnkavaj: It's important for the development to not become to corrupt, to have two strong open source currencies.
pankkake: I hope your ltc "investment" decision has better foundations than that "everyone know"
pankkake: …and you do not understand how Bitcoin works
skinnkavaj: OH yes I do, but I still see it's possible to infiltrate and try to destroy innovation even when it's open sourced.
pankkake: open source is already a protection against developers being corrupt. you don't have to have a fork of every open source software to keep the developers in check. that would be insane
pankkake: but bitcoin is even harder to corrupt
benkay: but pankkake that doesn't prevent to corrupt innovate
pankkake: changes have to be approved by the majority of the p2p network and even harder, the network
pankkake: is there an altcoin list by date of introduction?
kakobrekla: but miners are people and people are stupid
assbot: [HAVELOCK] [NEOBEE] 50 @ 0.00276 = 0.138 BTC [-]
skinnkavaj: pankkake: There was like 5-6 altcoins launched before LTC, but none of them were really good. One was premined, one was scrypt but not premined, LTC was the one that won. Now I am only waiting for the third coin, but that will take a lot of time to be decided.
kakobrekla: you know what, i think you should talk to ozbot some more.
gribble: ozbot was last seen in #bitcoin-assets 3 hours, 4 minutes, and 38 seconds ago: <ozbot> Re:Surgo
pankkake: there was a lot of hype about solidcoin IIRC. actually, it put me off bitcoin at that time. where is it now?
pankkake: I thought you were not daytrading
pankkake: why watch the price all the time?
jurov: pankkake iirc it was revealed as scam
pankkake: I am not arguing for it, I am not weathly enough to make it worthwile anyway
skinnkavaj: But tbh sounds stupid to buy into LTC when it's already high pankkake, that sounds like a really stupid plan.
