jurov: and i don't have anything to say about non-nato computers3
mod6: someone asked me why I don't create vpatches of the changes to V.
asciilifeform: i don't need or want the www loading stuff for anything.
mod6: but, i typically don't hack straight on the built trb, ususally on a separate branch.
mod6: i just re-read what I typed there (sorry, just woke up, slept like the dead), and i don't mean to make it sound like a single line, even if sometimes it is! i just make the changes i need, the most minimal changes possible, then drop 'em in and see.
mircea_popescu: i don't live there nor have i yet run into the problem.
asciilifeform: i don't recall anybody (other than that lukejr fella) crying when s.dice was doing this.
punkman: I don't think "guy that doesn't know much" doing "curl deedbot.com/build.sh | sh" is great either
mod6: if hanbot and Mr. P. can get through it ok, then we'll deedbot it -- not that I feel good about it - I don't. The thing isn't what we really want... it's just what we have, for now. :/
phf: and the one ascii requested, transition graph for when there's only one hunk per patch file http://glyf.org/tmp/trb-transition-hunks-asplode.png (i filtered out all the genesis files that don't have further transitions)
punkman: hanbot, I think you don't need -conf if you have -datadir
pete_dushenski: but i don't discount that i bunged something up along the way
mod6: hanbot: alrighty, thanks. sometimes if I don't hear anything, i just assume the worst. heheh.
hanbot: oh so i don't actually need korsgaard's key in the .wot dir
mircea_popescu: i don't think you can find anyone who both read bitcoin source and thinks the file split is sane.
polarbeard: yeah, I understand people don't want to run rube-goldberg machines
phf: if i have files a b and patches x y z, x is genesis, y does a->a', z does b->b', topo sort x z y. if i were to ask for y press, i also get z, whether i need it or not. conversly if i press z, i don't get y.
ascii_butugychag: adlai: to me it simply means 'i don't have to leave my editor and FUCK NO I AM NEVER pasting code into a motherfucking shell 10000000 time a day'
mircea_popescu: don't tell me tis in the log i didn't get to ?
mod6: <+ascii_butugychag> i still don't get why a vtron should use the net at all << I'm open to well defined explicit ideas here.
ascii_butugychag: i still don't get why a vtron should use the net at all
mod6: I can do that just fine yes, but i don't think we should populate the .wot directory via script.
thestringpuller: I don't even know if I should bother reading r/btc. kills brain cells like drugs.
punkman: (by filter I meant "don't save these lines", but I guess still useful when you are grepping or scanning with your eyes)
ben_vulpes: that is a lot of delta to review for i don't precisely know what value
asciilifeform: mod6: i'ma post the whole thing. i don't mind re-grinding later if necessary.
asciilifeform: i don't mind re-grinding periodically it if it becomes v-orphaned.
assbot: Logged on 28-01-2016 21:26:18; PeterL: most memory management tricks seem to be directed at retaining what you want, I have never seen anybody talk about throwing out useless stuff. I don't know if anybody has researched whether there is a hard limit to total storage space?

assbot: Logged on 05-09-2014 20:45:34; BingoBoingo: "This was my fault. While I don't think it's impossible to fairly cover Bitcoin while also holding some Bitcoins, the reason to make these rules blunt and general, rather than nuanced and specific, is to ensure there's no question about the motivations of the underlying coverage."
pete_dushenski: i think i got confoozed by the 300 bn dollar valuation. numbers and facebook just don't have meaning anymore.
thestringpuller: i guess in context of secret drug dealers organizing to do hood rat shit, best method. But don't see what use of them using our keyids to identify our WoT, when that's you know...publicly available.
mircea_popescu: anyway, his discussion of oil is pretty much afield. for one thing, inventories are way the fuck up (tho i don't expect he has an inkling of a clue as to how to look it up, and besides - so much easier to pronounce stupid shit), and deliveries are actually stalled by the buyers!
asciilifeform: aha i recall that one. but i don't think anybody is thinking of ~it~ when he wants 'basic...'
jurov: i'm fully aware it's infuriating but i don't see a way how to prevent repeated posting of stuff that changes only by unsigned data (like, attachment names)
pete_dushenski: i don't happen to think that anything should be 'mandatory'
pete_dushenski: jurov: i don't happen to agree with ben on this point. just poking you ;)
PeterL: meh, it was the first thing that popped up. I don't really reccommen the link
adlai: mircea_popescu: honestly, i don't think further details beyond what i just deeded is relevant for this forum, or any other, except perhaps a court convened in my honor by the relevant mob.
mircea_popescu: there was some talk about harmonizing the two, but i don't think the guy has any time to be doing maintenance, or any interest for that matter, so...
mircea_popescu: i don't really use it.
adlai: lol i don't think kako invited me here until months later
adlai: early january 2014. i don't remember the exact date and frankly don't feel like trying to recall it.
mircea_popescu: a reflection of my i don't like or trust raid controllers earlier stance

mircea_popescu: i don't think i've ever used anything other than 1+0 combos.
mircea_popescu: <thestringpuller> mircea_popescu: LOL Trace Mayer is critiquing << i have no idea who that is, but zhe'd better get with the program because i don't see a future for whatever wot she's in.
thestringpuller: mircea_popescu: LOL Trace Mayer is critiquing your accounting. "MPEx needs a balance sheet cause I don't understand zero-asset corporations"
mircea_popescu: see, their driver is, "i don't have time to watch this dumb indian's videos". which is legit, they don't have time.
mircea_popescu: i don';t think you understand how mp works.
mod6: I don't suppose you logged your build process?
danielpbarron: i don't actually care if he wins beyond me wanting to win the bet; i personally wouldn't vote for him
thestringpuller: Although I don't know anyone that can compete with the Koreans in Starcraft
mircea_popescu: <BingoBoingo> peterL, Just gotta raise the river then << ideally, put it on a jack. "maybe i'll come down, maybe i won't. don't mess up my beer, man!"
BingoBoingo: <mircea_popescu> ... << dude, i don't care if he gives away clinton's hairy snatch and the secret of immortality 45 minutes in. who the fuck has the time for this sorta thing. << Reddit commnets were lulzy. Didn't sonsider anyone would try listening or operate a browser capable of listening.
mircea_popescu: assbot: Michael Toomin explains his meltdown, and the structure of Bitcoin Classic (45 min in!) << dude, i don't care if he gives away clinton's hairy snatch and the secret of immortality 45 minutes in. who the fuck has the time for this sorta thing.
mircea_popescu: <punkman> I also don't get why i's on medium << because that's what altman's qntra is called.
punkman: I also don't get why i's on medium

polarbeard: maybe one day, I don't kiss in the first date
mod6: <+ben_vulpes> mod6, polarbeard, asciilifeform, mircea_popescu: y'all follow? << this is my 0.00000002: If you don't trust a man, no matter what his keyid is today, how can i ignore that and trust a new ident? The correct thing to do as a man, admit your mistake, and or ask for forgiveness and move on. Simple as that. We're all adults here.
ben_vulpes: it's not submitting patches any more, so i don't see the point of the discussion.
ben_vulpes: someone can show up tomorrow and claim to be tiberius, tat, smickles, and until they sign with keys that prove it they're either joking or some other thing i don't understand
ben_vulpes: yes, i don't quite care about 'statements against interest'
ben_vulpes: and given that the character's lost or whatevered those keys, i don't see any reason for a) that to change or b) influence how the wot regards polarbeard
assbot: Logged on 16-11-2015 21:01:21; ascii_field: BingoBoingo: 'I didn't know that,' I said. 'No one knows everything,' he said. 'Did you know,' he said, 'that until almost this very moment nothing would have delighted me more than to prove that you were a spy, to see you shot?' 'No,' I said. 'And do you know why I don't care now if you were a spy or not?' he said. 'You could tell me now that you were a spy, and we would go on talking calmly, just as w

polarbeard: I code, I don't write articles
BingoBoingo: I use dreamhost for thedrinkingrecord. It's cost controlled and don't get surprise bills when DDoS
ben_vulpes: a glib answer'd be "because steve died", a more pragmatic one "because they don't compile the bitcoin reference implementation", but i don't think either of those are what you're thinking.
ben_vulpes: I personally don't understand the reasons beyond "it's the right thing to do with the reference implementation, dummy. also, fuck drepper."
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform i personally don't. there's a common disease of whores (and no, programmers aren't fundamentally anything else). it manifests like so : should a wolf find a delicious morsel, it will neglect it oft to the point of just letting it sit while it draws a perimeter around and inspects for whence it came for and MOAR. meanwhile, a mouse that found a morsel will grab it and run, never to return.
phf: basically the patch being dropped created bunch of work for me, that i don't have bandwidth to pursue. (i.e. produce a v version, test on stator)
pete_dushenski: i don't think anything drove me more nutso when using 10.8 than the inability to find a file in a folder you ~just~ placed it in moments earlier.
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: So that I don't have to link fiat uni web sites.
mod6: because they can not use buildroot... at least, I don't *think* they can, easily at lesat. they could turn on Linux Binary Comapt mode and perhaps some other kernel tweeks. would need to be looked a.t.
phf: fwiw openbsd didn't make it through v-ification either, it was designed to work cross platform, but i believe there were makefile modifications since, that didn't include it. i don't actively run openbsd, so can't integration test the result
mats: i don't make the rules, man
mircea_popescu: http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=23-01-2016#1383219 <<< i wouldn't buy a thing with "SawStop (tm)" and i certainly don't want to HAVE to. ☝︎☟︎

ben_vulpes: asciilifeform: i imagine you don't use iphoto
thestringpuller: aha. I really should just learn to _actually_ cook. But I don't even know what foods I like.
thestringpuller: For me I just have my own menu and tell chef "fix X here is money to go buy groceries. Don't get the cheap stuff."
mircea_popescu: spare me, i don't believe in hiring your shitty workers on my dime. i'll take a slavegirl with, and she can wait on me. your inept "staff" can go hang, how abvout that ?
mircea_popescu: interestingly enough, senor vulpes understands quite exactly what i don't like about the subculture.

mircea_popescu: i do but i don't recall why i wasn't so hot about that.
Azelphur: whoops, he said he'd pay me an installment of £1000ish on Monday, then said it was a bank holiday and that he would send it out Tuesday, ignored me till yesterday where he claimed he had sent it out, but honestly he has said it's sent so many times and it didn't arrive I don't trust it any more
mircea_popescu: i don't mind.
ben_vulpes: the dependency chain of "well i work for satan because i got this useless phd that i got because i had a masters i didn't know what to do with because i got a bachelors that i similarly didn't understand the purpose of because i was told to go to college and" it never fucking ends and i don't really give a shit about the root cause for whatever retardation.
ben_vulpes: i don't see the problem with embezzling a reasonable amount of toilet paper. it's a valid business expense, and the staff don't get taxed for it.
pete_dushenski: btc-e trading higher than bistamp, which is itself trading higher than bitfinex... don't think i've ever seen that before.
mircea_popescu: i don't even recall what that was ?
polarbeard: that's why I said I don't know wether this will hit make's limits
polarbeard: yep, this is quite experimental anyway, I don't know make's limits
polarbeard: I don't know if you'll find this interesting or horrible :)
