avgjoe: other curiosity i've not found on logs: what does it means bastard block on the debug.log?
☟︎ avgjoe: so the trusted nodes list is more useful on the initial startup when there are a lot of blocks to download and it'd be easier to just have nodes that doesn't send unnecessary info (like segwit payload)?
avgjoe: ok i understand, so i shouldn't worry if for instance i connect to a segwit node, my node will try to chop off the irrelevant parts of what it receive, correct?
avgjoe: someone (not my server, but some other trb instance) is going to get from who these blocks?
☟︎ avgjoe: but aren't new blocks fetched from evil implementations?
avgjoe: my question is: if i add nodes that aren't on the trusted nodes list, what are the risks?
☟︎ avgjoe: so far is working properly on debian 9 just modifying the repo (because stretch repo hasn't gcc 4.x)
avgjoe: then started the bitcoind with LC_ALL=C in front of the command and started syncing
avgjoe: after installing the deps, i had to set export CPPFLAGS="-P" , otherwise it fails in the middle
avgjoe: ok, i just wanted to report my experience installing TRB. On debian stretch after installing all the dependencies listed on
http://thebitcoin.foundation/trb-howto.html , i've modified on /etc/apt/sources.list the repo to the jessie one, then installed gcc and g++ 4.9, then reversed back to stretch
avgjoe: when i log in it says: Your host is hobana.freenode.net[81.18.73.123/6667],
avgjoe: is there a way to register the username on the channel?
avgjoe: so i'd like to ask what happens if there are other "avgjoe" logged on irc and my client change a bit the username to log me in
☟︎ avgjoe: thanks, i'm registered on deedbot
avgjoe: and the logs in these days :D
avgjoe: no, it's a easy/fake study to have more spare time keeping government grants
☟︎ avgjoe: after seeing that raiblocks was just some random coin, i tried to understand better bitcoin and found trilema as a very valid starting point, no-frills like, to use bitcoin in a responsable manner
avgjoe: and a couple of months ago i was lucky to cash out in bitcoin the crazy (at least for me) amount generated by solving captchas
avgjoe: then this coin has gained popularity for supposed scalability features that i've never investigated
avgjoe: basically a coin that was given to lazy people that solved captchas
avgjoe: i'm a student, I've discovered bitcoin thanks to raiblocks
avgjoe: that's would be nice, then it's up to the average joe to look up the history and wot
avgjoe: i mean, ok, it works for noobs, but at the same time you don't know instantly who is managing the keys
avgjoe: so if I understand correct: all the deedbot functions are ready to go for a newcomer, except for the wallet function that works well after having a good wot connection
avgjoe: trinque: may I also ask, is just the wallet feature that need human presence or deedbot does other semi-auto functions?
avgjoe: why the reverse show 1 connection?
avgjoe: ok, so as long as i see trinque alive on irc i can feel safe about my test bitcents on it
avgjoe: is a feature for doing off chain transactions by trusting the human meat or i'm missing something?
avgjoe: "Requests that `amount` be withdrawn from your available balance and sent to `to-btc-address`. This step shall be performed by a human operator after reviewing account history. Expect at least one day of processing. Bitcoin transaction fees shall be deducted from your account."
avgjoe: i supposed that was an hot wallet feature
avgjoe: or at least, a server located where?
avgjoe: a curiosity about the deedbot wallet feature: if i use that feature, who is controlling the keys?
avgjoe: ok thanks, so after someone rates me deedbot allows to up me on demand?
avgjoe: hello, can i ask why deedbot doesn't send me the challange to solve? instead it tells me that i should not up myself
avgjoe: sorry for the english, trying to understand if i'm getting the point correctly
avgjoe: Basically segwit it could be reprhased as the "i'm a good politician that will enforce the ---good--- policy but to enforce this i'll need to take some of your sovereignty (keys), but bear with me, hashrate is gonna protect you"
☟︎ avgjoe: thanks for the segwit discussion, i have just looked in the logs for "bech32" and it outputs very little
avgjoe: so there will never be a double standard with "tier 1 bitcoins" stored in legacy addresses and tier 2 stored in bech addresses, correct?
avgjoe: i suppose that is a noob question, but if someone send me btc from a bech32 address to my trb legacy address, does the node ignore the tx?
avgjoe: bech32 addresses, how the node behave?
avgjoe: no, just concerns about investing time setup it and being able to use it in the future
avgjoe: interested in running trb
