asciilifeform: say, 'i want to live only with folks who graduated with science degrees before 2010' ☟︎
asciilifeform: where i live, at present, any experimentation in selectors ~other than rent bezzle~ is specifically forbidden by usg.
mircea_popescu: i guarantee you no ustard could discern anything from his own shit.
asciilifeform: i doubt that any usaschwitz inmate would have a serious problem distinguishing 'want this as neighbour' from 'do not want' in five minutes of conversation.
mircea_popescu: <asciilifeform> i hear that not-breeding-them-in-the-first-place also worked great <<< how the fuck are you gonna manage this wonder. so you select a woman. and her spawn will... regress to the mean. of course. and she'll love it anwyay. of course. and now what ?
phf: i gather as much from elsewhere in the logs
mircea_popescu: "oh, forger the hard problems involved while i focus on painting the fence! that'll do it!"
danielpbarron: http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=11-10-2015#1296471 << i have the only altar and the only sacrifice-giving skill item; whoever would agree to be my apprentice would use my altar with my ingredients and give me all the loot, and in return they would get the experience ☝︎
phf: biggest disappointment of visiting northrop grumman one time-- no auto-turrets. i thought surely there if nowhere else.
asciilifeform: i hear that not-breeding-them-in-the-first-place also worked great
asciilifeform: and i hear auto-turrets have come a long way!
mod6: asciilifeform: <+mod6> Ok while I work on this for a while, I'll pull that bundle down. Should have one up sometime in the next few days to a week.
phf: i guess that's kind of like seeing conan the barbarian cover on beowulf
phf: by the way i stopped by some russian bookstore on the way to saunas and spotted this utterly ridiculous shalamov cover http://static.ozone.ru/multimedia/books_covers/1011527549.jpg. i don't even.

asciilifeform: http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=11-10-2015#1296476 << lulzy, the one i have at home, apparently, is better ☝︎
phf: actually yeah. i was always curious why "trust system" that presumably is baked into keyrings is different from signing the key with your sig
asciilifeform: i wanna remove a key? rm ~/.wot/key.
asciilifeform: (actually i can. it was... winblowz compatibility. of course.)
asciilifeform: i cannot even begin to fathom the kind of retardation that produced 'keyrings'.
asciilifeform: a ring, if it is to be tolerated, is a dir I CREATED DELIBERATELY full of pubkeys IN STANDARD FORMAT
asciilifeform: i fucking hate hidden state
asciilifeform: this is the kind of thing i was afraid of when first contemplating automating any of this

mod6: Ok while I work on this for a while, I'll pull that bundle down. Should have one up sometime in the next few days to a week.
mod6: ok makes sense. i'll work on that bit of it.
mod6: ah. ok. i see. so let the user populate the wots on their own, other stuff, no prob. ☟︎
mod6: hmm. well, i can take all of the sync stuff out for sure. will reduce a ton of code.
mircea_popescu: mmm i don't think that's either intended functionality or a good idea.
mircea_popescu: (which is why i'm kinda chuckling to myself every time alf goes on a rant about teh rent bezzle. sure, it sucks. imagine a world without it.) ☟︎
mod6: I guess I could just not print who signed the mirrors. Leave the mirror list sigs in place on the server, and they can be checked later by hand if anyone wants. but i kinda like how it shows who signed it.
phf: kakobrekla: i didn't have any expectations, i didn't know anything about it until half hour before. one of the people who invited me walked out half way through and the other one appologized.
phf: went to a movie theater to see The Martian. i only ever watch movies when in-wot recommend something enough, so i didn't realize how bad a movie can be, and this was one of the worst movies i've ever seen. snl "you can do anything" skit done with a straightface.. in space! but anyway, they've replaced all the regular rows, with reclining sits, and you can push the button for the sit to recline. i was ☟︎
mircea_popescu: i have no idea how they imagine the pos digital projector can compete with a 1950s soviet thing that went around the villages to show propaganda shorts.
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform>had standard lcd. but the latter do not resemble the machines i have previously used having such << speaing of which, i went to a local cinema yest. place tries real hard to be us like. they had digital projector. not only were the pixels visible with naked eye from middle of room, but ☟︎

mod6: Ok, so I've posted my version of V for some review before it goes to the ML. Inside the archive you'll find a `v.pl', `v_quick_start.txt', and `v_users_manual.txt' - and each with a corresponding sig.
asciilifeform: there was a row of apple portables, and some had high-res lcd (sold as 'retina' trade name) while others had standard lcd. but the latter do not resemble the machines i have previously used having such; instead, they were atrocious, with what looked like triangular pixels, dithering visible to the naked eye;
asciilifeform: unrelatedly, today i went into a shop and saw a type of chumpatronic contrivance for which i do not know the name:
ben_vulpes: i'm sure goebbels etc had some variant too

hdbuck: ah and i thought 90 results was quite much already.
phf: although often mocked "you don't understand, i needed to do this". oh you needed, that changes everything
phf: it's also removal of agency, need is something that happens to you, like "i need you to fill this out for me" has the "just doing my job, sir". as opposed to russian "you must fill this out" where the power dynamic is explicit
mircea_popescu: "sir, i'll need you to..."
phf: heh, i didn't even notice, the entire form was making me uneasy, but it's that casual "need" that's probably the worst part
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform i dunno that nonsense is of any interest rly. ever since ashcroft usg has been putting forth all sorts of spurious claims. ☟︎
asciilifeform: this was, i was told a multi-kg stash of synthesis-grade reagent.
asciilifeform: i suppose death may die, but never idiocy.
mircea_popescu: lol someone found bitbet i gather

asciilifeform: 'First, I thank Mr. Keane for his professionalism in notifying us of the government's decision. mircea_popescu: i dunno about that.
asciilifeform: i've always regarded p as untranslatable
asciilifeform: thing about subkeys is that they are a fundamentally ill-conceived idea - the notion that 'i can update my modulus but it is still considered the same key, because it is signed by this other key here, and this fact is to be verified by machine'
assbot: Logged on 10-10-2015 11:50:17; mircea_popescu: asciilifeform agreed re subkeys. tho i think we had agreed on this before.

asciilifeform: but, again, damned if i know

asciilifeform: there are people with something like an approximate picture of american garrison strength. i, sadly, am not one. call moscow.
asciilifeform: did it disband when i wasn't looking ?
asciilifeform: last i checked they had a 1M+ army parked in de, and kr...
asciilifeform: i suppose, for some - enough. just like a typical turd contains enough nourishment for some creatures
mircea_popescu: "here's the laws and and if you don't like it, you can leave" "i'll go join the people that'll fuck you up" "o wait you can't leave" "does that mean you admit your laws are dumb ?" "nope" "does that make you a hypocritical idiot ? " "no it doesnt!!1" ☟︎

asciilifeform: then i can't possibly disagree;
mircea_popescu: i did not say that.
asciilifeform: http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=10-10-2015#1296129 << i must disagree here. the design was brain-damaged in several important ways from day 1 ☝︎
phf: ben_vulpes: i looked at it couple of months ago investigating the origins of the checksum behavior, and it's not at all a mythical repository of pre-diddle functionality. it has long compromised crypto all over the place, like afore mentioned md5, hardcoded
cazalla: http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=10-10-2015#1296045 <<< i was basingt hat solely on the tea girl from vice NK doco, every channer wanted to make her his waifu ☝︎

Vexual: i melted my rangerover, bought a brand new prius
mircea_popescu: than i'm willing to put up with "your money's our business" nonsense.
mircea_popescu: i'd rather see hillary forced to burka on the senate floor and pelosi whipped in downtown san diego for keeping bad house,
assbot: Logged on 10-10-2015 05:38:56; cazalla: if ya were desperate, and many times at 18 i was, ya could hang around till 3am close and people would mix and match given that was the close

punkman: yeah, but I don't see why
ben_vulpes: punkman: so pgp'd be the one i'm looking for?
