Diablo-D3: as far as I can tell, everyone who got a flu shot this year eventually gets this
Diablo-D3: its not in the flu shot I dont think, its some combination of whats in the shot and whats out there
Diablo-D3: anyone who didnt get a shot either didnt get this or has full blown flu
Namjies: Can't it be plain cold if it's not full blown flu you have?
Diablo-D3: and flu is basically leathal for me
Namjies: How can you know it's not cold =/
Diablo-D3: I dont get colds. ever. I thought I said this.
Namjies: That's not a good arguments. You can't claim you're immune to every cold virus.
Diablo-D3: its a tradeoff from having allergies
markedathome: Discuss: web forums are the biggest step back in communications. They are bloated 2MBs of information per page for what should be approx 1-2000 words
Diablo-D3: markedathome: its not the concept of forums do that
Namjies: How do having allergies prevent cold? O.o
markedathome: mircea_popescu: can i do ignore, prioritise, highlight,kill a thread? I don't think so :-)
markedathome: Diablo-D3: it is absolutely the forum concept. a bunch of fucking idjits came along and completely missed the good things about threading in nntp/cosy/cix/bix/well and "re-implemented"
Diablo-D3: Namjies: it isnt supposed to, its a side effect
markedathome: and implemented all the bad. static pages built at each page request from a database...
Diablo-D3: markedathome: well thats the thing
Diablo-D3: the static page only needs to be about 200 bytes bigger than the content
Namjies: there's no such side-effect of allergies O.o
Namjies: You're telling me the fact your immune system reacts to certain substances makes it non-reactive to the cold virus?
markedathome: huh huh, well it uses mysql/progres-sql/db-de-jour, and php! and perl! and python! and ruby! and whatever took the "designer's" fancy that day
Diablo-D3: Namjies: allergies are an overactive immune system
markedathome: i'm surprised that no one had implemented a json decoder in xml for a brainfuck interpreted client running on java for a 3 page forum thread on the use of vinegar for descaling kettles.
Namjies: Diablo-D3 so how does that makes you immune to cold?
Diablo-D3: it just does for a lot of people who have severe allergies to stuff like trees and flowering plants
Namjies: Is that just an impression of yours or a scientifically recognized fact?
Diablo-D3: a lot of allergen sufferers have noticed this
Namjies: It might just be that allergies and cold are hard to distinguish, having similar effects.

Namjies: [16:20] <Diablo-D3> being sick sucks
Namjies: [16:21] <Diablo-D3> as far as I can tell, everyone who got a flu shot this year eventually gets this
Namjies: [16:21] <Diablo-D3> its not in the flu shot I dont think, its some combination of whats in the shot and whats out there
Namjies: [16:23] <Diablo-D3> and flu is basically leathal for me
Namjies: If that's not flu nor cold, what the hell is it then?
Namjies: Well might be your first ever cold... some people rarely get symptoms and usually have asymptomatic colds.
Namjies: Well the two can be nearly identical, except for severity.
Namjies: If you have flu, you'd probably be sick like hell. Colds already feel like hell sometimes.
Diablo-D3: no, when I was a kid and got the flu, I would be in bed sick for 2 weeks
Diablo-D3: and my nose would flow with snot constantly
Diablo-D3: its the curse of being a severe asthamtic
asa1024: I have COPD and the docs wanted me to get a flu shot. I passed on it.
Namjies: yes. Hence why I'm proposing cold... the symptoms are mostly identical, except for severity and headache/muscle aches which are more frequent with flu.
