mircea_popescu: i have no such confidence. some girls are extremely good at shaping themselves into an extremely sharp tool in the right sort of context ; and the result is by very far much sharper than anything ever produced naturally, or through alternative means.
asciilifeform: i did say 'same powerball'
mircea_popescu: if i believed my kids were going to be anything like me i'd even consider having some.
mircea_popescu: some models who in practice hang out with them (this almost never happens, even in california) lure/force him into a pool. it's not exactly ~against~ his wishes ; it's irrespective of them, which is the point - males, esp young, esp virgin, are very fucking shy, and i dunno that this even exists, act of male devirgination which is not out and out "rape" by the female. certainly not at a sane age for it (such as 15).
mircea_popescu: btw, since i mentioned http://log.mkj.lt/trilema/20160831/from:36/to:36#36 : it is directly evident why it's such a big deal for elliot kid. leaving aside all the insane preposterous nonsense worthy of a tucker max / wolf of wallstreet / suicide kings production : there's one sex scene, in which this kid (totally whitebread, goes to school and does his homework 15yo with no tattoos) is kidnapped by a bunch of derps, and then
mircea_popescu: to courge. to contaminate with scourge oops i mean.
asciilifeform: 'As you might have noticed, I'm surrounded by guys, all of whom are enthusiastic about new technologies. They have managed to successfully transfer their excitement to me and have contaminated me with the same urge to discover the numerous possibilities that the crypto world has to offer.' << also great.
mircea_popescu: i think ima save this though. "purposeless walks and golf". nb.
mircea_popescu: to quote, "oh no, i wouldn't do THAT. *pause* there MAY have been some instances... in THE PAST! but that's all ancient history now."
mircea_popescu: well, especially when i take my head off, place it on the table, and feed it icecream on the shorter path
trinque: mircea_popescu │ you know, "omg i'm not looking looking" thing << afraid to look directly into the trilema, eh?
mircea_popescu: well actually maybe you don't know, wtf do i know. but anyway, there's a very peculiar thing people/kids do when the inconceivable happens ; like joe di maggio walks into dunkin donuts
mircea_popescu: you know, "omg i'm not looking looking" thing
mircea_popescu: everybody reads trilema, including the local tards. i can spot them, too, i go to a cafe or w/e, there's this dude in a corner being all weird in the specific manner.
asciilifeform: i have nfi, but pictured item dun look like a dude
asciilifeform: 'To me, coding languages are aesthetic works. I am fond of protocols. My free time consists of purposeless walks and golf.' -- Tjasa Tolj. MARKETING ASSISTANT
mircea_popescu: i dunno dude, a large part of what i like about #trilema is that it doesn't consist of above examples.
Framedragger: whoops wrong window, sorry for spam, i am not understand
Framedragger: i suppose
shinohai: I guess it is for noobs ... I just get amusement from watching all this.
Framedragger: ah. well ok. i would get confused :p
shinohai: ;;later tell mod6 that key is my correct one, I did switch pre-split from #b-a
shinohai: Logged 07:22 +VAodminnTer Hi, Can I generate my PGP using this site? https://pgpkeygen.com/ <<< foflmao
VAodminnTer: what program can I use?
VAodminnTer: Hi, Can I generate my PGP using this site? https://pgpkeygen.com/
mexxer: So following a post in bitcointalk.org and generated my GPG, How do I register it with IRC?"Sorry but I am a little new to this kind of things"
mircea_popescu: i guess.
shinohai: I guess
mircea_popescu: yeah, i think a lot of non-english speaking folk are reading that.
shinohai: The ImHash guy had the most atrocious spelling and grammar of any potential recruit I've met thus far.
mircea_popescu: http://log.mkj.lt/trilema/20160831/from:95/to:95#95 << i'll leave you with the observation that of the two people i named to chair the bitcoin foundation years ago, one's been doing a lot of work and the other's been doing a lot of hurr. on the continuum between mod6 and pete_d you're ever sliding towards the end opposite to what i'd imagine you're aiming for, and at some point it'll become a matter of, "well, if he hasn't fi
Framedragger: (i suppose it's better than the new web nonsense where "awesome devbro javascript" retains some info that is not part of the actual url, so you can't change shit and depend on the shitty js interface for navigating around..)
mircea_popescu: right click on start line and if i want to make it a range i just edit a value.
mircea_popescu: i like it just fine actually.
Framedragger: ben_vulpes: regarding the latter point, i'm not sure about the anchor pointing to the last line in the range. i considered it, but if i give someone a link to a chunk of lines, makes sense for them to start reading from the top, no? however, best is probably to have small jump buttons/links to be able to jump to beginning/end of range. <- so i'll do that.
mircea_popescu: http://log.mkj.lt/trilema/20160831/from:95/to:95#95 << i love that lone red rhombus best. he so perfectly typifies the insane idiocy of "venture capital" backed "entrepreneur" culture in silly cons valley.
mircea_popescu: ben_vulpes nothing to do with l2. i am a man of simple solutiona yes ; i am not a man of copy/pasting holy nonsense, no.
mircea_popescu: http://log.mkj.lt/trilema/20160831/from:89/to:89#89 << oh it did that ?! i had nfi lol, i just hacked urls.
ben_vulpes: i leave you with http://pasted.io/ : web 3.0 meets vaporwave 2.0
a111: Logged on 2016-08-06 21:00 mircea_popescu: the major problem in poker isn't "fair dealing", it's debotting it. but i have a ready solution for this problem too, and im persuaded it's complete.
ben_vulpes: Framedragger: i would dearly like for the second click on a log timestamp to not populate the "from" query parameter (if that's even what that is in your system)
asciilifeform: (i.e. a box where gcc was built on glibc)
asciilifeform: incidentally (and i have nfi whether this is obvious to people) the buildroot portion of rotor, the gcc build, etc. will be quite unnecessary on a box that is running a properly musltronic build built thereby already.
mod6: makefiles. i just tested my changes with the deeds in place. works.
mod6: it's about to be moot very soon i think :]
ImHash: lol I thought I could ask here :D
ImHash: hi I'm from bitcoin talk
mircea_popescu: so i watched that alphadog movie elliot kid was all infatuated with.
mod6: oh, and with those turn of the century disks; after grinding them down with the sanding block -- they're like solid aluminum. so i cut them into tiny pieces with these:
mod6: i'm a bit conflicted; but it might still be some work until the makefiles are fully baked.
mod6: and I'm gonna put it out there shortly. but just got a long distance in a short a mount of time working on these makefiles today.
mod6: ok, so I have this offline build script ready to go.
mircea_popescu: i guess it's pure happenstance there's no cbs headlines about "Hussein Bahamas the Gay Prostitute" and such.
mircea_popescu: http://log.mkj.lt/trilema/20160830/from:516/to:516#516 << you seriously don't see the precariousness of this ? if i tomorrow hire a stripper to go to their house and dance until they make it all be in a ruby gem in java, they'll do that, too ?
mircea_popescu: http://log.mkj.lt/trilema/20160830/from:506/to:506#506 << i'm frankly curious what'll come of this.
Framedragger: (ah, i only now figured that g_l == gabriel laddel)
Framedragger: (yeah i need to finish off a website because i promised to a relative, foolishly, now i gather. because some dude's flying and they need it right nao!!1 and gave promise. such is life)
mircea_popescu: also, i never new before how much i loved the bot reading out the contents of log lines.
Framedragger: yeah, well, i may be underestimating the importance of such a 'design decision', in truth.
mircea_popescu: trinque i dunno, am exploring.
Framedragger: mircea_popescu: so it would seem that your irc client *may* be using Windows-1252, because 0x96 in Windows-1252 appears to be – (EN-DASH). but, i'm realllly not sure, because, encoding hell. moving on to other stuff...
BingoBoingo: Oh, I didn't scroll up enough
mircea_popescu: http://log.mkj.lt/trilema/20160830/from:450/to:450#450 << i don't think the guy personally has any voice into this whatsoever. see also http://log.mkj.lt/trilema/20160830/from:256/to:256#256 on this topic. basically, there's a very fat, dumb man walking around, and it tried to sit on a chair named eth which caught fire. the fat man still wants to sit, and monero is the one thing looking most like a chair available. it WILL si
Framedragger: does, uh, your irc client add a spurious byte just for kicks, or wtf. hm. i also know there are multiple long hyphens / shorter dashes in unicode, maybe some of them don't get recognized by these shit systems
mircea_popescu: should have called it wtf. or i guess tf
mircea_popescu: this is some wtf level voodoo here. i have nfi why they called it utf
Framedragger: ...i see.
mircea_popescu: and i copy/pasted it in turn.
Framedragger: no i copy pasted that from btcbase log, the dumb fella that i am
Framedragger: no wait. wait wait. btcbase's log displays them as dashes. my irc client displays them as questionmarks. that original dash - i'd assumed it was a dash from btcbase's log, i now surmise. i get questionmark in irc
mircea_popescu: if i copy/paste yours into the log, it ALSO does not.
Framedragger: (btw btcbase's irc line IDs do start with 1, so i guess they are sorta deterministic)
mircea_popescu: no, this is what i meant by artefact : –
Framedragger: meaning, i won't be doing anything with the full logs (assuming that's what you mean by the artefact) today
Framedragger: damn. www itself is utf-8 proper, but the source of the log (znc) reports that long hyphen as byte 0x96, for whatever reason. this then gets rendered as . i think i won't dig into znc's mysteries as i'll be planning to move to a different log format anyway (everything to be stored in db for proper search, etc.)
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: i think i even mentioned it here, this b00k
BingoBoingo: I know nothing of it
thestringpuller: g_l: Oh yea. If you are in southeast region I can prob fix the homeless problem temporarily.
g_l: They did it all on their own btw. I thought crowdfunding was a terrible idea.
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> BingoBoingo: fwiw, i've never been anything other than wage cattle << Then yeah. You've been the wrong kind.
g_l: because I'm homeless and have 3 closed bank accounts, money locked in paypal etc etc etc etc
g_l: For the record: I totally underestimated the amount of support there was out there for a 100% CL GUI.
asciilifeform: '- You're a great one for the fighting Bill, I know, but you can't fight forever. - I can go down doing it. - And you will. - What did you say? - I said, you're turning you back on the future. - Not our future.'
asciilifeform: but when g_l writes in that 'let's all bus in voters to the polls in shitsackistan' - i must confess, my ears sadly fall down.
asciilifeform: then - i will certainly try it, and say 'thank you'
asciilifeform: well, let's say g_l (who i give benefit of doubt, he seems to have a head on his shoulders etc) writes one.
g_l: I don't know how you expect to get there without going through a complete CLX backend first.
asciilifeform: well i'd be potentially interested in a sane clim made by sane folk
g_l: If you're not interested in CLIM, don't bother. I'm not here to convince you of its utility.
g_l: well, I got a (major) donor to pester him and suddenly all the talk of "backends" disappeared.
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: fwiw, i've never been anything other than wage cattle
asciilifeform: and, just as 6 mo. ago, i say that there is not.
asciilifeform: i was discussing whether there is any idea worth stealing in monero.
davout: the problem i have with monero is the bloat and uncapped block size, not really the crypto itself
asciilifeform: quite analogous, in fact. obstructs friendly ('this tx is mine, i paid you, damnit') as well as enemy visibility.
BingoBoingo: <Framedragger> OT: i don't suspect anyone's got any suggestions for a wordpress theme to use (minimalist, gonna be ~3 pages in total, no comment box) for showcasing a newly published (non-electronic) book? << Toolbox. Just delete the comment boxes and other shit. Small theme so easy to fidn everything you want/need to delete.
davout: i remember already reading this monero thread actually
BingoBoingo: <Framedragger> OT: i don't suspect anyone's got any suggestions for a wordpress theme to use (minimalist, gonna be ~3 pages in total, no comment box) for showcasing a newly published (non-electronic) book? << Toolbox!
asciilifeform: davout: i took an interest in fluffypony's thing a while back, and did not especially like what i found.
asciilifeform: so first i'd get a raw pixel, then - a thing defining a spline inside the glyph, then a glyph, then a character (in the lisp sense), then the routine which produced it..
