mircea_popescu: scams also arrive reliably every few months, for
the same reason
Ademan: BingoBoingo: Cars aren't a create comparison
though, cars are all made by a small number of enormous players.
BingoBoingo: Or... you know do
the store of value
thing.
mircea_popescu: of course cars for
the new model year arrive reliably. you're paying a lot more
than what
they're worth.
mircea_popescu: anyway,
the choice practically is either get gypped (the cars example) or get gypped (the miners example).
kakobrekla: mircea_popescu
thats just cause its worth so god damn much.
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: I wouldn't
take
the other side of
that bet.
BingoBoingo: Ademan: Products being sold generally aren't delayed by months.
The new cars of
the new model year reliably arrive sometime in
the summer.
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo in fact, more coin has been lost so far
than will be lost in
the future i bet.
BingoBoingo: Apocalyptic: It is
tolerated now because still
too many people haven't lost enough coin yet
Ademan: Aren't products delayed by months constantly in non-BTC markets
too?
Apocalyptic: <BingoBoingo> As BTC matures bullshit like, "we get new stuff sometime in
this 3 month window" is going
to be
tolerated less and less // I sometimes wonder why it's even
tolerated now
Ademan: BingoBoingo: Well if invetors
thought a 3 month window was BS, why
the price increase in
the first place? Pure speculation?
BingoBoingo: Also I imagine muppets who would have happily piled onto AM last year are now
throwing
their money away at Cex.io
BingoBoingo: As BTC matures bullshit like, "we get new stuff sometime in
this 3 month window" is going
to be
tolerated less and less
BingoBoingo: Your average 'Murican back country gas station has
their inventory
timed
to a roughly 15 minute degree of precision as
to when it gets replenished.
BingoBoingo: Ademan: And
the rate at which people build up Bitfurries and Knc miners in
their farms and ambiguous date like Q1 mean what exactly?
Ademan: (Since it wasn't scheduled
to have happened yet, I don't know what would have shaken confidence)
Ademan: BingoBoingo:
thought
they were supposed
to in Q1? Unless
there was a delay.
BingoBoingo: Ademan: Do
they have a new farm with new chips?
Ademan: BingoBoingo: I had stopped watching around
the
time it bottomed out, but it looked like it was on its way back up
BingoBoingo: Ademan: Everything is with
the AsicMiner plummet
Ademan: damn, what's with
the AM1 plummet?
BingoBoingo: craycray is
the goodfellas, guccifer, and beiber all being arrested
the same day

tell nubbins hey homie does your shop do

that fancy raised ink shit is?
benkay: even on mpex, he cray at

benkay: didn't have

to make out like a bandit
Namworld: Might have bought instead of other
things...
mircea_popescu: but when you realise shares were sold by
the mn at 2k satoshi per originally,
the immensity of
the colossalness starts
to emerge.
benkay: more
than altcoins
thats for sure
mircea_popescu: i guess s.mpoe has made moar ppl rich
than anything else.
mircea_popescu: right-o.
too big

too big
to be replaced,
the continued relevancy of jpm is a legal requirement of
the world.
benkay: i like
the implications
that
the usg requires
transaction reviews
mircea_popescu: no, more like "these people will eat our lunch yet we
think we are very important"
Namworld: Is
that article something like: "I got a big mouth and I can make it move. Watch!"
Apocalyptic: BingoBoingo, you reallistically can't do more
that 2-3 depth calculations
jurov: maybe strippers can be
treated similarly
jurov: well,
there were some special visas for starcraft players
truffles: im kinda
tired so i zoned out both games
BingoBoingo: Apocalyptic:
truffles: See what I'm saying about G/30 being
the minimum
time control for a good game of chess.
BingoBoingo: Sure would change
the demographics of North Las Vegas or Sauget
BingoBoingo: If H1B visas were given for stripping instead of
the sort of prostitution Facebook, Microsoft, and Google solicit I imagine girls from
the Phillipines could have kept
the soft
touch in business.
BingoBoingo: Well, generally
the better experience from strippers comes from going
to
the clubs
than dealing with
the ones on cams who can't even perform at
the clubs for
the reason of being
too far from
the clubs.
Ademan: mircea_popescu: lol reading
the backstory on
this stripper business
mircea_popescu: just like bitcoin people aren't
to be found on retardstalk, perhaps actual strippers have better
things
to do
than foruming.
mircea_popescu: you'd
think people whose profession revolves around
this concept'd have it down pat.
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo funny how strippers never engaged with
the "shut
the fuck up and do what you're
told" bit.
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: I know right. Funny how strippers never engaged with
the
tidbit about "store of value" being
the market driver
mircea_popescu: Ademan "for
the people" governments at work. expect it soon in a
theatre near you.
mircea_popescu: most of
those girls could have had a cool k. which
they never saw
together.
Ademan: damn,
that's a hell of a
tariff
mircea_popescu: from
the 14% we infer about 1/3 ish of goods are bought on internet
mircea_popescu: consequently...
the peso is worth less (% of goods bought on internet * 1.5)
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: "Who knew giving away stuff
to strippers is going
to
turn into some sort of criminal case, seriously now." lol
mircea_popescu: kakobrekla
they put in a new rule
that you must pay 50% fine
to buy stuff over
the internets.
benkay: heh kakobrekla is
that on some sort of international market?
Ademan: benkay: yeah, leave it alone, I
thought I observed something, I was wrong.
The end.
Ademan: I must have been high or something before, it *is* generating a new address every
time... I coulda sworn it wasn't
mircea_popescu: well yes. every
time you enter an ammt you get a new address.
Ademan: mircea_popescu:
http://www.openbsdfoundation.org/donations.html near
the bottom
there's a box
to enter a BTC amount, and a button
that says "Donate Now". When you enter an amount and hit donate, it
takes you
to a BitPay page with an address and QR code on it. I got it from
there
Ademan: benkay: sure, but I
think it's safe
to assume 1. OpenBSD didn't care
to set up
their own wallet and 2. OpenBSD needs
to convert
to fiat
to pay
the bills anyways
benkay: unless
there are hard business requirements driving
that sort of dependency.
benkay: but you see, Ademan, if you have
the barest of
technical savvy, you aren't beholden
to BitPay et al and
their
transaction fees.
ozbot: Donate
to
the OpenBSD Foundation
Ademan: I assume either BitPay generates new addresses periodically (it obviously doesn't do it every
transaction otherwise I would have found no
transactions) or
they generated a special one for
the
transaction
benkay: well,
that'd be why you'd pay someone.
Ademan: benkay: I did look
to see what
transactions had occurred involving OpenBSD's address, but found <1BTC in
transactions
benkay: or, you know, pay someone
to do
the research for you.
benkay: if y'all are so curious Ademan you could probably narrow
the address space down with some research
mircea_popescu: anyway, your particular question may be different, but it's also misplaced.
the philosophy of gpg contracts, which is what bitcoin is based on, is
that
the parties
to any
transaction can dispute, but
third parties have no say.
☟︎ Ademan: mircea_popescu:
thanks, do you mind if I quote you on reddit?... heh
Ademan: BingoBoingo: Well, if you assume Bitcoin is
the only channel for
the payment
to occur,
true, but you can see my particular question is different.
BingoBoingo: Ademan:
txids are for
transaction in which
there is a dispute as
to whether
there was payment or not. If neither side disputes
that payment was made publishing a
txid merely strips both sides of privacy.
Ademan: mircea_popescu: It's not whether or not you did, but rather whether you used Bitcoin
to do it or not.
jurov: The Openbsd fundation published him on
the donors list, what's
there more
to wonder about?
BingoBoingo: Also I won't be able
to play for a few hours. I'll be getting dinner soon and
then getting drunk enough
to whoop your ass
truffles.
truffles: i lost
track of what i was doing half way
the games
Ademan: mircea_popescu: Do you mind people seeing
the
transaction? Some people on reddit were wondering about
that.
