bounce: ZOMG GOTTA GIT ON DAT GRAVVY TRAIN
mircea_popescu: well what if i told you there;s going to be a marvelous ad network, allowing ytou to make entire pennies each day!
bounce: heh, right. I got plenty original material to post, just can't be arsed to find a place to post it, then post it.
fluffypony: with handwritten snippets at the back
fluffypony: I think I still have my C64 code book
bounce: still have a book with bunches of hexencoded code printed, for you to type over. I perhaps should scan the thing, then see if I can't OCR and put it in an emulator.
bounce heard the programs flowing through the air too. radio though, and not stolen of course. because civilised and all that. yeah.
mircea_popescu: because the romanians actually broadcast stolen code over tv.
mircea_popescu: "back in the day" for me is plugging z80s into the tv
bounce: "back in the day" for me is tape swapping, as dcc just wasn't fast enough
mircea_popescu: you know, it's not just the bitcoin forum that works on the "least value is most visible" principle.
punkman: rather rare in the online advertising biz though
mircea_popescu: heck, i've been picky all my life to surprisingly positive results. i'm not even fat.
punkman: mircea_popescu: this might be of interest http://decknetwork.net/
Hasbro: mircea_popescu: trusting me would be a very bad idea
fluffypony: lol dcc...that was THE WAY to get warez back in the days
mircea_popescu: Hasbro lol take the advice of strangers, it's the best kind of advice you'll ever get. you wanna be in that thing.
Hasbro: I’ll be here, ty
arsenische: mircea_popescu: I will, thank you
mircea_popescu: well... no pressure other than the fact that obviously i want something like this, so if you pass i'll just have someone write a ocmpetitor.

mircea_popescu: arsenische anyway, it's a big move, feel free to think it through, ask any questions. no pressure.
mircea_popescu: showing 1mn impressions/10k clicks a day when he knows it's all bots is worth 0 to anyone.
mircea_popescu: arsenische nah, because your thing exists to serve the advertiser, and the advertiser needs to have an absolute he can rely on.
arsenische: I appreciate your suggestion to focus on the most valuable publishers and get rid of all the trash. But... won't it be difficult to maintain a binary approach (accept/reject)? Maybe we could just evaluate ad units to have some "quality" attribute, and allow advetisers to set the theshold for their campaigns.

mircea_popescu: http://mpex.co/?mpsic=S.BBET << that is the contract, if you've never read it
mircea_popescu: arsenische kakobrekla did the coding and maintains the codebase, he gets a signed list of bitcoin addresses to use whenever needed. i keep the books, and generally handle the business side for it.
punkman: mircea_popescu: there is indeed fagrap, for instance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soce,_the_elemental_wizard
mircea_popescu: we'll be insanely picky, in that, only actual blogs carrying actual interesting material written by interestin people will be accepted. jurov's thing may not make the cut even.
mircea_popescu: 2. we kick out all the current publishers. we require all publishers to come here and have their platform approved to be added to a-a.
mircea_popescu: 1. you get in the wot, we go partners in yoru anon ads service, work it pretty much on the bitbet model. it can be listed on mpex.
mircea_popescu: arsenische okay, i have a proposition for you. it goes like this :
mircea_popescu: punkman is there such a thing as fagrap ? i mean there's everything else, some chick introduced me to her christian rap brother.
punkman: you want to make money rapping, better not talk like a fag: http://rappers.mdaniels.com.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/
fluffypony: then be too lazy afterwards
mircea_popescu: that's the main thing :p
fluffypony: were I an advertiser I'd maybe do that the first time round
fluffypony: well that's the other thing
mircea_popescu: no, because advertisers can't possibly be arsed to do that.
fluffypony: won't that lead to an environment where advertisers cherry-pick only the especially large publishers and ignore all the little ones?
arsenische: there is much work to be done. we need to find a solution for better ad unit classification and evaluation. improve accounting and statistics for advertisers.
mircea_popescu: ok. what are your plans with the thing currently ?
arsenische: yes, there should be some other way to do it
mircea_popescu: which is a move towards sanity.
mircea_popescu: so i see you've dropped that notion that advertisers should follow the publishers and evaluate them one by one
mircea_popescu: hey there.
decimation: the mice are debating whether a bell ought to be affixed to the cat: http://boingboing.net/2014/05/03/glenn-greenwald-and-michael-ha.html
BingoBoingo: But yeah, twas skyrocketing.
BingoBoingo: Well, no one knows what exact odds are going to be when these open, and events move odds over time.
TheNewDeal: i guess it was skyrocketing in price at the time
BingoBoingo: TheNewDeal: I think he does that on some bets to get the bets started at roughly correct odds and to encourage action on them.
TheNewDeal: they bet 57 yes to 42 no on 1 BTC >= $10,000 USD before Novermber 29th, 2014
BingoBoingo: TheNewDeal: I think Mircea claimed that one in Channel as one of his personal betting addresses.
asciilifeform: there was a paper ages ago, on device fingerprinting through acoustic artifacts (buzz speaker, see what microphone picks up)
asciilifeform: kgb typewriter fingerprints, the famous yellow dots in colour laser printer, this crap - 'history does not repeat, but it rhymes.' ☟︎
asciilifeform: re: solid state gyro fingerprinting - betcha this also works with satanic rngs.

KLYE: Alright. I am off for a bit. Thanks for the invite to talk MP. I will be in touch. I'll also see if I can get you some "I love PM" pics for your collection
BingoBoingo: KLYE: Given your industry I'm not sure how to take you abreviating my name that way...
BingoBoingo: KLYE: Maybe talk to nubbins'
KLYE: I think it would be in the ventures best interest to have some made up to be given to potential clients instead of me giving out my personal cell number.
KLYE: Anyone know of a place online that does nice business cards for BTC?
Naphex: then they can draw up a contract, or use simple preset drafts
Naphex: where a buyer specifies specs, providers can start a relation and do proposal and try too reach agreement
mircea_popescu: prolly the best way to work it is to have buyers specify contracts and providers accept them
mircea_popescu: well that's where it gets complicated.
Naphex: or just any way for users to aggree on contracts w/ dispute reso after
Naphex: would users bid on projects to win them, or project lists?

BingoBoingo: Damn, I though you really wanted to tell us Not Safe Fucking Quit Work
KLYE: I have dug up some screenies that one of our viewers managed to snap from the first show. This talent is away at field school for the next week or so and isn't one of the prettiest by any means.. great tits and ass on her though. http://imgur.com/a/SVIg8
KLYE: I sent out some text MP for the picture you requested. And got blown off by most of the talent as they are busy getting drunk or banged by someone it seems. One wanted to come over but that is hardly what you asked. :/
KLYE: I've been asked to join some people at a wedding social. So I think I might take the night off and go and do that.. Might get lucky and find some nice potential talent.
mircea_popescu: 12% each time.
mircea_popescu: http://bitbet.us/bet/677/bitcoin-network-difficulty-14bn-on-bastille-day/ how can this be so heavy on yes ?
benkay: ;;later tell jurov is the pythonic approach to debugging twisted apps seriously to just log everything that happens and tail that during development?
mircea_popescu: that too
benkay: or there's another thing to be done.
mircea_popescu: or w/e, they doing it are not somebody.
mircea_popescu: what i meant was, someone doing it would be a reason not to do it. the problem there is that nobody is doing it
benkay: mircea_popescu: i tend to assume that anyone who's not killing their niche is leaving market share on the floor. perhaps an unseasoned approach.
mircea_popescu: fluffypony: kakobrekla: so they're going to lend legitimacy to all the scammy DACs << they have to be hurt to learn. not in any sense new.
