mike_c: would not rectothermal analysis provide the location of the stored key?
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Seems that way. I dunno why properly concealed physically stored private key could not be a viable option for the post-rectothermal healthcare fund.
asciilifeform: (which, if read literally, amount to a 'what not to do')
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: this is not unlike the psychology of the folks who buy books on 'how to hide things'
BingoBoingo: Any thing physical I may or may not do with individual private keys would probably be part of a rats nest strategy to avoid ever being completely robbed.
dub: similar(ly stupid) ideas about spending them after fiat collapses as metals probably, libertardation
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: I'm not too sure about it either. I like the idea that they mean an intruder would have to scour my junk in addition to the computing and electronic equipment. People who pay for manufactered solutions and their reasoning elludes me. Maybe the husk of a Cascius has some collectible value?
asciilifeform: it inescapably reminds me of the 1890s autos with reins
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: i don't really get the fixation with 'physical bitcoins.' care to try explaining ?
BingoBoingo: moiety: You have to remember you have blog too nao.
punkman is thinking 1BTC coins made of 10kg marble slabs
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: that sounds too much like work
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Traditional "bastard" file cuts stone well enough
asciilifeform: if they actually fit a python in 2kb, that's pretty neat.
jurov: but this discussion is getting derailed again anyway
asciilifeform: (anyone who read the entire manual, please correct me if i am mistaken)
asciilifeform: the python linked earlier (diametric?) isn't a proper python, where the interpreter is available at run time, but, as i understand, a simple batch-mode compiler.
asciilifeform: lisp on a microcontroller that isn't optimized for high-level languages (a la the greenarrays forth chip) isn't much fun. it's like going back to the mid-80s, when microcomputer owners justifiably scoffed at 'slow' languages
asciilifeform: jurov: clisp builds on arm. but sbcl doesn't (the latter has no interpreter mode, it has a high quality optimizing - real time - compiler on x86 and a few other archs.)
jurov: and then continue on the trajectory, never even getting to know there's something better
jurov: i'm using pi just as an illustration that people you may want to get interested in lisp start by getting emotionally hooked onto coding, regardless of what's available being utter crap
asciilifeform: 'real' microcontrollers are far more interesting. the proliferation of the cheap arm boards is really because today's hobbyists piss their pants at the thought of learning asm
asciilifeform: still quite useless - they all have ridiculously slow bus
asciilifeform: jurov: i've a small collection of various cheapo 'arm' boards, just like everyone. the 'pi' collects dust. did recently get openbsd running on another one (beagle?) recently.
asciilifeform: jurov: the 'pi' would be neat if it actually... worked. (entirely aside from the evil closed blob running at all times.) try, for instance, using ethernet and usb at full throttle on your unit, see what happens.
moiety: but i did realise i'm probably not within their hours now, will try again tomorrow
moiety: D; they won't answer to meeeee
BingoBoingo: ^ The story of -assets

pankkake: and altcoins are easier than time machines

Naphex: price needs to rise by bubbling up, to match demand though
fluffypony: the dude that wrote the "appcoins are fraudulent" article
mike_c: was that from pankkake?
fluffypony: "I can’t tell if the altcoin people are trying to deliberately scam people or just not thinking ahead to the logical conclusions of these schemes. They’re trying to hit another bubble. They regret not buying Bitcoin when they could have. So they want to replay it. It’s like replaying a childhood trauma to overcome it but you just make it worse." ☟︎
diametric: As tempting as 2K SAT is, I'll pass.
diametric: See the permissions it grants? they can basically spam as me.
Naphex: why do they care about your twitter?
