mircea_popescu: still have to unpucker the cock enough for as much as a dribble to come out
mod6: and so should you. I'll be tabling that, updating the "Patch guide" and pulling the tarball with that patch down from the website as soon as my other vm hits current block.

mod6: a few days ago, I had been looking mapOrphanBlocks as a possible reason that it runs itself out of ram as this structure goes unchecked in size in v0.5.3 -- when I was at ~180,000 blocks, these are the stats that I had built up so far:
nubbins`: i'd front some $$ to get it going as well
asciilifeform: undata: they are all, as you would expect, rather threadbare.
nubbins`: sluggish is okay, as long as it works

thestringpuller: as is always the case
mircea_popescu: that watsapp no users claimed as however many seemed to be worth something when fb paid for them is no support of the theory. that g+ isn't worth anything IS counterproof.
mircea_popescu: if there's a better example as to why the "grow big fast" so-called strategy doiesn't work, here it is. google's own g+ is not worth naything in spite of 3bn users.
mircea_popescu: decimation: punkman: that's 2-3 billion signups <<< and yet, in spite of that claim (probably unsubstantiated, as all of these, but certainly more defensible in VC terms than anyone else's), g+ isn't worht anything.

decimation: asciilifeform: 'strip' as in stripping debug symbols?
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo has been considering using one of those "Edgerouter Lites" as a desktop system << you don't want to do this, believe. i have freebsd running, but turns out that mips 'strip' is defective (can't be arsed to hunt for the endianism bug in it, could take a month) and half the ports tree won't build.

BingoBoingo: asciilifeform: Ourobourus eating itself as of this year. New in the public discussions of that crowd
mircea_popescu: the other is the consensus that allows for transactions to be accepted as valid.
decimation: http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=21-01-2015#986212 http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=21-01-2015#986214 << did 'distinction' strike anyone else as rather arbitrary? ☝︎☝︎

pete_dushenski: think of it as word inflation
BingoBoingo: Find out about three career opportunities in the computer industry. Pick one and find out the education, training, and experience required for this profession. Discuss this with your counselor, and explain why this profession might interest you. Report what you learn to your counselor. << Doing this one now I'd pick curmudeon as a profession, and ask why writing OS is not a requirement.

mircea_popescu: davout: justusranvier: in your article you shouldn't be reasoning on the cost of including a transaction in a block as (cost of one block / number of transactions) but you should reason on the marginal cost of adding a transaction to an already existing block that i'm currently mining << quite
