mircea_popescu: moreover, if someone knew why people trust them they could hack more trust i guess
jcpham: so i'm reading this vladimir vs. magazine thread
Graet: no, but i havent met you either, nor most of the 150 odd ppl that trust me and mine on my pool
mircea_popescu: i think some people met pirate or else someone hired for the job at some point
thestringpuller: pirate lost me money and i had 0 exposure
Anduck: thestringpuller: i guess pirate made you monies too xD
mircea_popescu: Graet his q is pretty stumping tho. i mean, why do people trust one!
Anduck: if i made a exchange and named it "anducks exchange" , would people use i?
mircea_popescu: a ok. so that's what i do.
Anduck: i know
mircea_popescu: well, i am the mircea popescu of MPEx.
mircea_popescu: as to smickles i never met him irl but he's been my broker for a while and upstanding.
thestringpuller: and buy liquidate i mean bankruptcy
Ukto: i cant find a detailed thread
Ukto: i have no idea
Ukto: thestringpuller: here is how I am seeing it
Ukto: I havent personally seen anything negative re: smickles. only positive++
Ukto: as soon as I find the thread ill tell you :P
Ukto: i am looking into it now
Ukto: i mean
thestringpuller: i wrote it off
Ukto: I hear ppl make scam accusations, and other sregard him decently
mircea_popescu: but yea, i'd do her.
mircea_popescu: http://trilema.com/2010/mircea-mircea-monroe/ i think those are better
mircea_popescu: i was perturbed enough a year or so ago when i found out who mircea monroe is
markedathome: though i am getting annoyed with electrum - what is it with "developers" using glorified text files as a database?
mircea_popescu: i do not know anyone who ever did this before. ever.
markedathome: um... "there are 20161 19980 BTC missing (edit: I subtracted my funds that also were deposited on Bitmarket), and Bitcoinica claims total for around 50K USD"
mircea_popescu: well at any rate i'm not going bust over 1700 btc omfg.
Graet: um yeah, i misunderstood too, was looking in forum for your announce mircea_popescu
mircea_popescu: but you know... i was here before pirate. some people preferred bitcoinica to mpoe. those people got screwed. it was a choice tho wasn't it.
mircea_popescu: in fairness, i should probably learn about quotation marks
mircea_popescu: nm, it was announced i'm told. here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5441.msg1413156#msg1413156
mircea_popescu: i saw the announcement, not sure if it was published
mircea_popescu: i lost nothing
mircea_popescu: and tbh i think keeping money in anything other than mtgox and those frenchypoofs with the eu partnership is at this point cruising for a bruising.
mircea_popescu: i don't think so.
mircea_popescu: Unfortunately, I have very bad news. I cannot currently proccess your withdrawals. The situation is very complicated and it's all my fault, that's why I feel terrible about it. I tried to make this up, to keep the site afloat and somehow recover the funds, but it's not possible anymore. Right now there are 1786 BTC pending withdrawal, which I can't honor...
jurov: yeah, i'd be rather be fucking with something else, but that will be, too.
jurov: i'm disappointed
smickles: it seems, i'll stat, order, stat for diff untill i can reasonably assume that it was fully filled
mod6: mircea_popescu: i agree. If I was there in the pits and my client called me to place a market order immediately and i was being front run by an algo, i'd go banananas.
jurov: like i'm using assbot...puhlease
mircea_popescu: <mod6> it may possibly be the only real market in the world, even guys in nyc or chicago trading pits have to combat these HFTs <<< i know. atm i actually do have an edge over nyse/etc.
smickles: jurov: I know, but I'll be putting only one order up at a time, so if anything shows up with that mpsic, that's it
jurov: smickles, what i'm trying to explain, you have to account for transactions
smickles: mircea_popescu: would you not like it if I had a ~500 iteration loop which called statjson until it saw the order pop up, if at the end of the 500 iteration it haddn't, it would just assume it got executed?
smickles: well, damn, i don't think I can put off order number fetching any longer
mod6: that article on ZH really blew my mind. i'd be like fuck it. market tis brok3d.
mod6: because i don't want to fight a fucking bot to place an order
jurov: incidentally, i just met a friend who want to do hft bot
smickles: i need to backtest it
smickles: bah, i would be satisfied with buying mpbor, but I suspect the thing i'm writing will be more profitabled
mircea_popescu: i mean... it'd be in any case more effiicent to place limited time orders given that the bot knows how often it runs
smickles: I wonder if i can get away with a 'cancel the order that looks sorta-kinda like <this>' function
mod6: ok.. i see.
smickles: have I just not noticed this?
smickles: heh, i suppose so, isn't it
smickles: 'cause i'd have to adapt your code to my bot
smickles: jurov: I just want the one part that fetches an order number from a recently placed order, I don't think that's worth 99btc
mircea_popescu: i win.
jurov: no, seriously. we can make an agreement, but i won't release it cheapy
smickles: jurov: I promised only 6 months of support
smickles: and the guy selling it for me sold a bunch more copies than he told me about, so I could've made a lot more too :/
smickles: thestringpuller: a while ago I wrote an elliot wave based multiexchange+bitcoinica trade bot
smickles: meh, I know what I need to do, the fee for copy/pasting most of it seems too high to me jurov ;)
smickles: thestringpuller: i've made hundreds of btc off of similar things
thestringpuller: am i seeing a code for btc transaction about go down
smickles: can I see it an buy it off of you if it fits my needs?
smickles: jurov: I was hoping that you had it all in one simpe function which i could draw inspiration from :|
smickles: thestringpuller: yes, I take it that I didn't notify you of that?
EskimoBob: you have no idea. I was just reading what The Augustocroppo was writing. I mean, this guy.... fuuuuck :)

thestringpuller: i meant is 1400 good to meet?
mod6: No sweat, i'll come back here in a bit and try to find ya.
mod6: that I'm availble, i have my call at 16:00 CDT
mod6: I can take an hour after the next 50 minutes. I gotta prepare a bit for this IBM call I've got at 4.
mod6: Yes, good deal thestringpuller. Hmm.. I gotta check and see if I can squeeze in like an hour here... one sec.
EskimoBob: I was laughing so hard that I had tears in my eyes. At least they are entertaining
mod6: (that last part was a joke - I never gave pirate or btc&st anything)
mod6: SO I BELIEVE IN YESTERDAY
mod6: I thought this was a total joke. ^^^
mod6: i thought mircea_popescu was just fucking with you all
Ukto: so I knew it was comming
Ukto: I caused it :P
thestringpuller: i would rather fund science
thestringpuller: heh, I'm a scientist I would rather see money in the hands of people like Bugpowder
thestringpuller: I'm looking at it wrong I suppose.
mircea_popescu: Google used to give me a page of the right answers, fast, with no clutter. Now the results seem inspired by the Scientologist principle that what's true is what's true for you. And the pages don't have the clean, sparse feel they used to. Google search results used to look like the output of a Unix utility. Now if I accidentally put the cursor in the wrong place, anything might happen.
thestringpuller: well I guess put contracts paid my tuition...
mircea_popescu: imagine, i've never used it.
thestringpuller: and when I mean lots of overhead
mircea_popescu: summary ? i don't have flahs.
mircea_popescu: i guess
thestringpuller: I'm working on a sitcom about startups
mircea_popescu: at the time i soundly despised blogs
Bugpowder: I would just read Denninger's blog and be like, must buy puts on CFC, Downey
mircea_popescu: smickles well the last announcement in nov i had 958mn iirc ?
