ThickAsThieves: “Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up
a life you don't need to escape from.”
Bugpowder: Well, I think there is
a real market opportunity for localaltcoins.com.
ThickAsThieves: bugpowder it's not
a joke it's an experiment in irony, tribes, and feedback loops
mircea_popescu:
a gallon is
a gallon if you carry it in the truck or on the back.
BingoBoingo: Dimsler: Garbage, unlike doges have
a use though
Dimsler: it is
a trading floor for garbage
Dimsler: i didn't know this was
a trading floor for garbage?
mircea_popescu: i think in
a day or two alt blockchain will have done more hashng than all of doge in its entire history.
Bugpowder: atc is
a mythical alt currency inside joke?
mircea_popescu: but i tell you! it's great to have
a token worthless internet funbux currency to throw around
KRS-One: My friend josh bought
a laser you can actually see in the air..fucker hurts.
KRS-One: BingoBoingo: The thing is you can go to
a disco but are you really safe? Any number of those fancy lights and beams could be
a death ray.
KRS-One: Turn down the troll
a bit.
BingoBoingo: KRS-One: What's abnormal about it? Ever been to
a pool hall?
KRS-One: Love how everyone looks like its perfectly normal to have
a barenaked lady standing there in the pool hall.
mircea_popescu: girl that's never been in
a pool hall before... props her nose on the cue.
KRS-One: ok fine i just happen to have
a dream of owning my own shark tank with laser rays for my enemies ok?
BingoBoingo: KRS-One: The shark is too valuable on the plate and in the soup bowl to give it
a laser
mircea_popescu: KRS-One seeing how more people own
a dozen rockets than
a dozen laser sharks...
theo__: Or better yet
a satellite system that has lasers built in to act as
a defense over the earth creating
a overlaying network of defense?
Namworld: I never said
a human would need to react to it.
BingoBoingo: I was acquainted with someone who worked on an unclassifed project about as useful as missile defense. Essentialy the device was
a hair drier large enough to accomodate
a 747, because anthrax
Namworld: Yes, even at 3 miles per second. Is that such
a problem with almost instant reaction? Enough to reach incoming target before it's close enough. It might be
a bit too close for comfort I guess.
mircea_popescu: the 20 frames of
a second cover
a distance of about 3 miles say.
Namworld: It doesn't matter if you can shoot
a volley where the incoming target will be.
the20year: Mesh type missiles, that explode
a large metal mesh
mircea_popescu: basically
a steel mesh would be better than
a bullet in this configuration.
the20year: Remember during the faulklands, the UK ships had those and were able to intercept
a total of 0 missiles
the20year: and on
a boat that is moving on waves....
a bit more difficult
the20year: There supposedly is
a YF23 version that was carrier capable, at
a unit cost still well under the F35
mircea_popescu: anyway : who was ranting about how china isn't
a threat ?
BingoBoingo: the20year: The problem with the F-22 as
a universal fighter jet is it is too big for an aircraft carrier. (Apparently noone considered making the smaller version)
mircea_popescu: at least they're not asking for an airplane that works like
a submarine
the20year: Especially when the F22 can do the same crap it does, with 10 year older technology for
a unit cost that's 30% lower
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: At the current rate it looks like the F-35 takes the cake. Does nothing well as an airplane, because the Marine corps insists they need
a fighter jet that works like
a helicopter
the20year: What's the economic impact of
a 1mt warhead detonating 10000ft in the air over manhattan?
the20year: Especially since
a modern ICBM is gonna launch 10, 20, 30 decoy warheads
BingoBoingo: I'm telling you, top the interceptor missile with
a 30 kt warhead and your margin of error is covered
mircea_popescu: tracking missiles from
a satellite isn't quite as trivial as all that.
Namworld: An alert,
a short human check on the object to confirm, shootdown.
the20year: Nearly impossible to intercept with another missile, try hitting
a moving target that's incoming at mach 15 to mach 20
the20year: Russia has
a few systems deployed that are retargetable RVs that are very effective against most missile defense systems, but our systems aren't going after Russia's , they're more for iran/NK
the20year: We have
a minimum funding goal of $50k, hopefully we can get there soon so we can get it released and another property
theo__: FYI i have
a degree in business majoring in finance and minor in financial markets.
the20year: Out of the guys we have, there's 3 I really like that do understand business, one is absolutely fantastic, most others don't have much of
a interest, so the problem/issue becomes how do I get to cherry pick those that help control the company?
mircea_popescu: "In San Francisco alone, about 60 percent of all robberies involve the theft of
a mobile device, Police Chief Greg Suhr said. In nearby Oakland, such thefts amount to about 75 percent of robberies, Mayor Jean Quan added."
theo__: Perfect, the only thing i could see with being the problem is, do the top 5 share holders want
a say in the company as in being
a director as i think
a lot of the investors (especially early IPO) would of just been using it to invest there BTC into real world without the proper understandings to be able to help run something such as this
mircea_popescu: what the fuck leaders, that's not what you call
a herd of pencilnecks.
the20year: Or maybe
a 5 top shareholders + 5 shareholders as voted by the body
the20year: Mpex is sort of
a bitter/sweet thing , high potential for large investment, but high capital to list, and most of my investors stated to me that they wouldn't migrate
theo__: the20year, i think stay away from mpex as well. Not user friendly unless high level computer user, and i personally believe its tied into
a giant drug laundering scheme
theo__: agreed i own
a few to many but lol got excited with there IPO and now own 3000 @ the IPO price >.>
theo__: duffer1: anything further? i would agree that the mintspare company seems shit and also the bitcoin mining derivitive i stay the F away from. But to me seedcoin I was one of the best put companies in
a while (well until i saw REAL)
the20year: IE have the top 5 or 10 shareholders get
a director position, where we then make the right choices
the20year: As it is right now, i have control and can do essentially what I want, but as I had stated in the past , i want to do like
a board of directors type of thing
theo__: ok, and is each share = to 1 vote in the company? so at the end of the day with you retaining 60% stock you always have the winning vote? or will you have your's as
a vote of absence and decided only in deadlock?
the20year: Then they sent me to some other guy who cleared up literally everything in
a 30m phone call
theo__: Do you have an email or any other form of communication to talk more privately? I may think about becoming
a largish scale investor in your company. I am liking the way you hold yourself and your answers.
the20year: I have
a few small time businesses I run
theo__: Can i ask
a bit deeper as in are you currently still working outside of this company?
Duffer1: accidentally shot himself in the back
a few times ceo?
theo__: Do you mind if i ask
a bit more of
a personal question. As in how old you are? Just so i can get
a grasp of who i am investing into, Because as far as i can tell it seems you are the company or is there more people in the managment team?
theo__: And you will have first dividend out on the 15th? Which if i look at it right will be averaging
a ~3% yield because of the new IPO purchasing power not being included. This would be about right?
the20year: Price ranged from .011 (IPO price), to
a high of .0365 or so
theo__: Duffer i have to many BTC to leave them sit as only BTC i need to diversify and RENT offers
a realistic aproach to reinvestment with his companies share value only increasing even with the price of bitcoin 8x higher then his inittal IPO
the20year: last time we had
a vote to ask the direction of what shareholders wanted to do , it came back as 40/60 in terms of distribution (Re-investing 40%, distributing the rest)
theo__: the20year: Alright that answers my next question. My last major question i have is with the 3 year rental - equity buy back how would that work in terms of
a shareholder dividend?
mircea_popescu: the rest is hardly within
a coupla degrees of magnitude of that
mircea_popescu: your risks are that if btc reaches 10k in
a year or two you're left with 1/10 of what you'd have had if you held on to the btc, and if the guy splits with the cash you're left with whatever people buying into asset-based btc corps are usually left with
nubbins`: i mailed
a package mid-january and it took 19 days to get to the other side of canada
theo__: the20year: agreed but i am hesitent to over invest as you are talking about
a leveraged lending scheme (which works well in good financal times) Though in bad times over leveraging can leave you to open to the risks
theo__: the20year: have you also taken into consideration the potential risk of if
a housing collapse does happen again or
a market collapse in america? as in your compaines Manifesto ( i know not the right word but i am tired) you did not mention this is
a potential risk to investors
the20year: Well, it would be tied to real estate, and in the past under hyperinflationary periods, real estate has typically done well (Yugoslovia/serbia, zimbabawe, Weimar Germany) , so I feel
a little bit safe against that
the20year: Personally i'd like to save
a little back to invest into some type of btc/only investment
theo__: the20year: as the only thing that is stopping me as
a investor looking to diversify into your company is the key fact that I believe the US could be on
a potential melt down, and would mean that if you hedged to much into USD I am exposing myself to to much risk
the20year: We also had
a $120>$65 price move when we started :D So unfortunately we're kind of used to it
the20year: We've got quite
a few BTC Hedging strategies, the msot up front one is the fact that we're only cashing out on
a as-needed basis
theo__: the20year: good thanks you have already made me put more faith in you just with that statement. Furthering on will you be hedging anything into BTC or all directly into USD as your company for you unfortunatetly missed the $120 -> 1000 price hike and could have already had
a million dollar investment plan.
the20year:
a car with
a hose is always much more effective
mircea_popescu: maybe he could have arranged
a 10x10 battery of price guns
nubbins`: if he was
a pro, he would have used two nailguns, one on each temple
the20year: I found one, if we can bid on it that should have
a $30k purchase price, sell price of $90k which would be pretty good towards investors
the20year: Higher end will depend on capital utilization and whether we flip
a property
