billymg:
i tried speaking in pizarro,
i don't see a deedbot to message about voice
billymg: somewhat related to an mp-wp theme,
i'd very much like some reliable hosting. do
i join #pizarro to ask about that?

i don't take that.

i'm in the nyc branch of sv (impossible to distinguish,
i imagine, when on "campus")
mircea_popescu: you have no idea (in fact,
i am sure no human can form idea, as an attempt from first principles) what the frisco atmosphere is like these days.

billymg: this nick is new, my key is new, and
i am new at irc
BingoBoingo: As this was a public auction,
I am inclined to believe this is the number we should be using for invoicing.
billymg: more recently
i was running the design operation for the company though

i can pull together some older examples, will think about where to host/publish

i have worked a lot with those in the graphic/illustration side, so can speak their language and manage them through projects if need be
billymg: but more of the software interface variety. although
i can also make things look aesthetically pleasing
billymg: asciilifeform: ah,
i understood that your situation was more independent, like that of a consultant/contractor?

i work for your typical sv company, which is my current connection to a fiat faucet, and for that reason
i'd like to keep this identity separate from my fiat identity (to avoid an overzealous coworker who may stumble upon the logs trying to get me kicked for a CoC violation or whatever)
billymg:
i pm the output of the decrypted OTP to deedbot?
billymg:
i don't mean to only lurk,
i'm a long time log reader and am hoping
i can be of service to any of the lords in their projects. by trade (as defined in fiat land at least)
i am a ux designer and developer. happy to introduce myself in the channel if
i am voiced again
billymg: first of all, apologies for cluttering the channel,
i missed when my name was mentioned earlier

i came 7 thousand miles to drink starbucks
BingoBoingo:
I don't think our Starbucks opens until 10 am
phf: it's definitely a lag between the irc servers, because
i got the same burst of your messages, while
i was getting ascii in realtime
phf: asciilifeform:
i saw the last messages on btcbase, but
i'm curious what if anything got lost
phf: trinque: ack, but
i've also noticed that if
i were to import ascii's new key over ascii's old key it resets the expirations on both pub and sub, so let me figure out what's going
trinque would prefer phf just sign "
I would like trinque to delete my key and reimport X" for sanity's sake, as it saves me from having to reason through whether this new key is an acceptable substitute for prev, incurring all the "how does gpg really work again?" and so on.
trinque:
I used the gpg --import, which
I gather didn't work
phf: asciilifeform: it looks like key updates got merge into the old key, rather than replacin it. the pub is the same, and hasn't been update (still marked as expired), but sub has been replaced, and is now "expired: never". it also added the new identity (where
i removed the email) to the rest of the existing identities
phf: asciilifeform: yeah, the paste shows that
i grab keys from both urls, and the deedbot one is still the old key

i had expiration set on it, which
i finally removed for good. the thinking at the time was that
i didn't really trust my opsec (mac was still in the loop), but it wasn't much of thinking since the mechanism is promisetronic anyway.
i also took an opportunity to clean it up off extra "identities" and random signatures
Mocky: the air looks quite smoggy, but also over the gulf and away from the city to the point where
I wondered if it was actually smog

Mocky: the building style is very different from what
I've seen before, but ~all the signs include english subtitles for traffic and store fronts
diana_coman: granted,
I did not search for this but still
diana_coman: asciilifeform, it's not as much those particular slides themselves - it's simply that
I haven't seen anything *other that that* in *any* "academia" material/discussion anywhere

a111: Logged on 2016-01-05 01:37 asciilifeform: anyone recall how mircea_popescu spewed chunks when
i pointed out that he's been signing with a subkey and not with the magical modulus ?
a111: Logged on 2016-01-05 01:37 asciilifeform: my main objection to subkey as implemented in gpg is that IT DOES NOT TELL YOU OR EVEN LET YOU CHOOSE with which modulus (
i.e. which sub) it actually signs with !
phf: but yeah, it comes up from time to time.
i finally took time to observe the mechanism in action
phf:
i was under the impression that the subkey gets created as a default genkey behavior, but then you can shuffle things around through edit-key. if you were to remove the subkey through edit key leaving only primary, gnupg refuses to use the primary for encryption.
mircea_popescu: phf we've all ranted about it at some time or another. needless to say replacement rsatron does not include idiotic half-baked state machines. much like trb-
i doesn't include "accounts" nonsense.
diana_coman: mircea_popescu, o.O apparently
I ...did; and
I found out how, as well: the crappy lappy on which
I had the away account had imported a few public keys, first of which Mocky's
phf: in related apparently you can't have a key without a subkey. the whole primary key/subkey mechanism appears to be mandatory.
i think asciilifeform might've ranted about it, but
i've not seen it mentioned in the logs

Mocky: yeah,
i get it. was just making spurious joke of my own
mircea_popescu: Mocky
i absolutely was making a spurious joke ; no knowledge of anyu of this.
trinque: possible. there isn't a codepath to change a key, so
I'd have to ponder what else might've happened.
