mircea_popescu: i have yet to meet
a girl with big tits that hates boots.
undata: I tend to have
a laptop on me
mircea_popescu: undata my perhaps overstated point being that unless you're ready to shoot you don't really have much use for
a gun.
PinkPosixPXE: yea, they'll hold the gun straight to your head, but you better keep yours in
a safe so you are
a 'law abiding citizen'
Mikayla: "Please mister Robber. Wait
a bit white I unlock my safe to get my gun"
Mikayla: I know it needs to be locked in
a gun safe
Mikayla: I don't even think you're allowed
a gun in public
PinkPosixPXE: I do own
a glock 19, and have
a concealed carry permit, but I'd like to prevent intruders from even bothering, before facing the alternative...
PinkPosixPXE: Hope you can stay safe Mikayla, that sounds scary. Electric gate seem like
a good idea, and dogs are great protectors, or at the very least alarm systems :). I should look into an electric gate, I want to setup
a few security cams soon as well (despite living in
a safe neighborhood, in my opinion, no where is truly safe).
mircea_popescu: lol well you do have perhaps the worst potato of
a camera.
mircea_popescu: Mikayla get
a wot account, i'll rate you, then you can self-voice and it be permanent.
undata: Mikayla: shooting's
a skill I think everyone should have
Mikayla: she's still
a puppy but never leaves my side
Mikayla: I own
a bitpull. have very high walls. electronic gate. latches on the door.
mircea_popescu: to judge by the media reports it's nothing but
a rapefest.
mircea_popescu: Mikayla speaking of mob attack vibes, what's the situation there like, for
a hot white gal ?
undata: "Kill him with
a nail gun." "Yeah boss"
undata:
a suicidal person goes for effectiveness
undata: right, that's
a punishment
Mikayla: Am I the only one who feels
a conspircy coming on?
undata: who kills himself with
a nail gun
mircea_popescu: simply leaving would be about as big
a deal, but not nearly as lolproductive.
HeySteve: I can leave to Canada or EU any time but committed to some projects here for
a while
gribble: You rated user HeySteve on Mon Jun 23 12:50:37 2014, with
a rating of 1, and supplied these additional notes: cryptocoinsnews reporter..
decimation: so basically there was
a whole pile of people who appeared-to-be-in-charge who were not, and security was effective because
a small number were involved
mircea_popescu: then qntra can run
a piece about how bitcoin foundation reverted
a missatribution created by usgavin of the bitcoin scamdation, where it falsely attrivbuted bitcoin to an inexistent group instead of satoshi
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform just like "us representatives" as
a mythical set includes even you.
decimation: instead you had
a pre-patch and pre-patch cut :)
decimation: I was confused, I thought you had
a pre-patch and post patch manifest
decimation: even something as simple as snipping out
a few lines seems complicated
danielpbarron: also, this:
http://www.hackthetrackers.com/ The world needs you. Hack the Trackers brings together like-minded technologists to put these ideas into action. Join us in NYC or online for
a two-day hack event to make data management transparent, accessible, and compelling.
cazalla: i dunno, it's not even
a good story, just slow news day so i go fishing and see what i catch
thestringpuller: well wouldn't
a company saying "We are gagged in disclosing what metrics law enforcement collects from us."
mod6: yeah, it'll be
a quick update. i'll put it in tomorrow.
ben_vulpes: Bugpowder: on the topic of bezzlenomics, i'm amused that you have
a small grant, lab, equipment and...porsche.
ben_vulpes: <asciilifeform> ben_vulpes: but why qr codes? << libqrencode-dev was
a mistake; holdover from my experiments with 6.3
mod6: decimation: i could be wrong here, but
a quick look here seems like this dude is wrapping up bitcoin 0.9.3
Bugpowder: now people can recognize you if parked somewhere… which could be
a negative thing...
Bugpowder: I was
a bit faded when I ordered it and didn’t read the instructinos
Bugpowder: Give me
a black box, random forest bagging tree algorithm over that shit any day
Bugpowder: Also, hard to exploit with
a large enough stack to make it worthwhile.
mircea_popescu suspects it's more valuable as
a retrospective fitting than anything else
Bugpowder: Been
a while, not sure how to do it
PinkPosixPXE: Yea, not
a bad song... Not certain how I feel about it.. interesting..
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform actually the qr code is
a legitimate optoseparator
cazalla: i would not even lend them niggas
a pencil
mod6: get us to
a point where we can feel good about just what we're starting with.
mod6: yeah, i think you're right that any place that actually gives
a shit about the bitcoind they run, probably made their own changes immediately.
mircea_popescu: which is by now becoming
a major problem in waiting, because under the hollow pretense of the power rangers, the codebase is actually fractured to all shit.
mircea_popescu has serious trouble thinking people have actually used the stock braindamage for more than
a few month before branching it off
mircea_popescu: oh he has
a point. step 0 : merge the stuff that's acxtually useful in.
mircea_popescu: i'm the first to say that the only practicable way to run this is as
a two machine, serial connected thing, so that's not changing.
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform how about this for
a principle : step 1, take all the stuff that can be taken out without therefore forcing different stuff being put in ; step 2 take out the stuff that needs replacement, sorted by the complexity of the needed replacement, ascending.
mod6: who knows what effects can be seen.... and sure, i could spend 3 months with gdb just trying to chase stuff down. this is going to be
a methodical process of eradication.
mod6: and it's
a great example. but it makes me nervous. cutting out stuff like that in something as poorly written as this is just ... frightning.
mircea_popescu: mod6 it's not happening, at all. but that notwithstanding, you do have
a solid point, as
a general thing. and 8 weeks is certainly narrower
a frame than anything usgavin&co can do.
mod6: <+mircea_popescu> prolly
a better idea to keep things sane and incrementally improve ? << this is the way it must be done. even though slash and burn feels so damn good.
mircea_popescu: prolly
a better idea to keep things sane and incrementally improve ?
mircea_popescu: no but seriously, and somewhat from experience : while the serial thing is
a solid design, i suspect it's also
a bridge too far
mod6: eh, yeah, these things are all great ideas. and necessary. but i think the best course of action is to get something up and working as
a baseline with the most minimal changes possible so we have something to run when derpistan puts in the hardfork
mircea_popescu: mod6 it's nightmare fuel with
a side dish of fridge logic.
mod6: anyway, not that i'm gonna keep going that direction for now, just wanted to kinda poke around and see
a bit.
