mod6: ok
mod6: hmm
mod6: what type of environment did you build on? im building mine on [gentoo/nomultilib/glibc]
mod6: i hit a small environment snag in the buildroot build itself -- i didn't have `cpio` installed, now that it's installed continuing make..
mod6: ^
mod6: im gonna try to build this
mod6: thanks for posting that ascii_field!
mod6 looks
mod6: ah
mod6: !up ascii_field
mod6: yeah exactly ^
mod6: lol. ok. had me worried there for a second.
mod6: ascii_field: what's the problem now?
mod6: yikes.
mod6: then obviously it'll need further instructions in the cookbook for whenever we put out v0.5.4, etc.
mod6: (for v0.5.3.1)
mod6: And then next month, if no one else volunteers to create the "cookbook". I'll spend all of August building that. I'll start with a guide for deb6 & ubuntu on x86-64 and i386.
mod6: Beyond that, I need to write upt the SoBA for this month.
mod6: my plan for tonight is to put out the bitcoin-v0_5_4-TEST1.tar.gz bundle to the ML tonight if possible. This is a pre-patched tarball of all of ascii's patches (and one of my fixes) up through verifyall. Should work only on x86-64 deb6/ubuntu 14.04/gentoo nomultilib glibc - if anyone wants to help test.
mod6: yeah, thanks.
mod6: yup, i thought it was already on there. I just never bothered to check until I tried to execute the script commands by hand and it turned up "not found". then the "ah ha!" moment. ☟︎
mod6: !up ascii_field
mod6: I was able to build on deb6/gentoo nomultilib glibc/and ubuntu 14.04 just fine. On ubuntu, my problem was missing realpath. DEERP.
mod6: !up ascii_field
mod6: <+ascii_field> if it doesn't - walk your box out behind the shed & shoot it, get a real computer << :D
mod6: (ubuntu)
mod6: ok one problem for sure that I noticed when executing the boost steps manually is that I didn't have realpath installed.
mod6: i'll try deb6 again here this afternoon too.
mod6: seems to me, that i hit this once right when I first tried this package -- but the problem was then (over a month ago), i was dl'ing the .tar.gz of boost, not .tar.bz2, and i've corrected that
mod6: *related
mod6: so this could just be ubuntu releated.
mod6: !up ascii_field
mod6: as the same with genuine 'stator' archive
mod6: this does build fine (my TEST1 bundle with 'stator.sh' as non-root) on gentoo
mod6: yeah, we need to be able to build the whole thing in one button push really. so doing it separate is fine for individuals who know what they're doing, but not good enough for release.
mod6: i could be doing something wildly retarded, i just don't know what it /is/ yet :]
mod6: this is a fair question, i don't like it any better than you do. im just trying to figure out if im retarded.
mod6: but i have bz2!
mod6: ascii_field: im doing this because ive put stator.sh into the test bundle, and I wanna ensure that it works on gentoo/deb6/unbuntu before i notify people on the ML.
mod6: shinohai: im fairly certain that the line "BOOST=boost_1_52_0" matches what's in ./distfiles : http://dpaste.com/02HECCC.txt
mod6: hmm: http://dpaste.com/1RYJ55S.txt
mod6: alright, chowned the entire thing -R mod6:mod6, building again.
mod6: ok will try a few things
mod6: http://dpaste.com/1VRTSN8.txt
mod6: ok here we go. just a sec, will paste.
mod6: you probably did.
mod6: lemme rebuild and see if i can replicate the error. and paste it to you.
mod6: i am in this case... because if I didn't I'm getting a seperate error.
mod6: this is on ubuntu 14.04 x86-64.
mod6: Has anyone else been able to build asciilifeform 's "stator" on ubuntu? What I have experienced is that it does not build: The libs are not copied/installed into ./ourlibs, they are installed to the following places; OpenSSL to o /usr/local/ssl/, BDB to /lib and Boost to /usr/local/lib
mod6: !up ascii_field
mod6: <+asciilifeform> ben_vulpes: i confess that i have not attempted to run it << i haven't had a chance either. will give it a go this week.
mod6: at some point next month, i write up a guide on how to set up cucumber as well so any one else who wants to use this can do so on their own environment.
mod6: whole thing takes < 30 minutes to dl, build, & test.
mod6: thanks :]
mod6: This test output log is a bit large, after all of the normal build output the goodies are at the end of the file (including the output from all of the subsequent tests & code): http://thebitcoin.foundation/misc/v054-TEST1-cukes-log.txt
mod6: i was pretty happy with postfix when i ran an mta like a hundred million internet years ago
mod6: Have a bunch of automated tests (cucumber) that now builds the new test bundle, verify, check binary, test -connect, dumpblock, eatblock. ima post a log here in just a bit.
mod6: weird-o-rama
mod6: 366985
mod6: now fully sync.d
mod6: I did get stuck a few times inbetween and i had to restart bitcoind, then it kept going.
mod6: asciilifeform: ok, im finally caught up to current on that one build we've been discussing. since last time we talked, I did hook up to both: -connect=195.211.154.159 -connect=64.85.171.71
mod6: ^^^
mod6: we're gonna nead help testing soon though. gentoo is one of our targets
mod6: joecool: ok good deal. i think this guide is more for people who haven't gentoo'd yet.
mod6: !up ascii_field
mod6: i still need to update the old how-to-patch guide etc. im actually pretty much complete on that... as soon as we give the green light on the test bundle i'll post my changes for that too.
mod6: can't recall exactly about realpath
mod6: yeah, curl certainly isn't installed by default
mod6: section 0x9? are you talking about the how-to-patch guide? it's a separate thing.
mod6: realpath should be on there by default iirc. but perhaps its not?
mod6: cazalla: auto.sh?
mod6: and perhaps as soon as we send up the patched test bundle, someone could try compiling the static R.I. on there.
mod6: basically, it's just going through this step by step: http://thebitcoin.foundation/gentoo-stage3-amd64-nomultilib-guide.txt
mod6: ah nice, we wanted to ensure our gentoo amd64 nomulitlib guide worked well for at least 1 third party before we put it out there to the list.
mod6: hey joecool
mod6: if anyone else wants to test the gentoo guide, gimme a holler. would like to get it verified before the end of the month.
mod6: let me know when you get something you an spin up a vm on or actal hardware
mod6: well, no worries. gentoo is a pain but the guide makes it pretty easy - hopefully.
mod6: wanna help test gentoo guide this weekend instead?
mod6: :]

mod6: probably blew his whole concept of reality.
mod6: powercycle galaxy, powercycle universe
mod6: :D
mod6: !up ascii_field
mod6: !up ascii_field
mod6: i'll let it go for a while. maybe it'll work itself out.
mod6: thanks for checking
mod6: ok.
mod6: nothing strange in the logs...
mod6: seems like i've been hung up on block 366774 for while now. i'm connected to those two nodes...
mod6: !up ascii_field
mod6: any thoughts?
mod6: i'd think this is what we'd need to do there: http://dpaste.com/2H8CNF0.txt
mod6: thanks for checking that out.
mod6: so yeah, that looks slightly different punkman
mod6: one of these days, im gonna have to stop typing URLs. or start typing better! lol
