cazalla: ya know
i remember when t2 was in cinema and thinking,
i gotta see this movie
pete_dushenski: actually,
i thought it was a photochop at first. 'official photo of pyongyang' style. but whatever.
pete_dushenski: here
i was, however momentarily, imagining that it served some practical and unimaginably posh purpose. other than 'look at me'.
cazalla: if ya were desperate, and many times at 18
i was, ya could hang around till 3am close and people would mix and match given that was the close
☟︎ cazalla: rather glad
i came of age before all this app hook up shit came around
mitch_callahan: this happened to me:
i was sitting at a dinner table, and the married guy next to me got a push notification from grindr.
pete_dushenski: mitch_callahan the 34" version of that monitor holds some appeal for me but
i'd have to see it in the metal first. $1k isn't outlandish either.
cazalla:
i believe there are some 144hz aroud now, and that eizo is 240hz which would be awesome but a bit $$$ unless you have aspirations of the pros or something
mitch_callahan: yea
i'm not much of a gamer but
i'll take that into consideration.
cazalla:
i guess it depends on what you're using it for, and if gaming, what sort of games
cazalla: funny
i never see em mentioned anywhere in gaming forums though, looks a much better monitor than my benq 120hz
cazalla: ya know
i looked up those eizo monitors.. they have a gaming monitor.. for like 2k, decided
i was not that much of a gamer

mitch_callahan: lol
i feared the wrath, your voice lodged in the back of my head
cazalla: really? thought
i removed it
cazalla: ah
i shitcanned that long ago mitch_callahan, social media gives one a sense of unwarranted importance
mitch_callahan: does everyone in ba have a blog? im all caught up on trilema, contravex and qntra.
i suppose
i can check out ben_vulpes blog.
pete_dushenski: some might contest that a blog not updated once a ~day~ is dead, which happened to be the standard that
i held myself to pre-child. now: twice a week on the blog and once a day in irc seems more sensible.
Bingo_VACAY:
I give the Cards the edge, because they win in spite of their Manager
Bingo_VACAY: World Series prolly going to be Mets-Toronto Cardinals-Toronto or
I-70 series on the 20th anniversary of the last one
Bingo_VACAY: Pete everyone

cazalla:
i sorta like the idea of guiding my wolf pack of young aspiring soccer players on tues/thurs arvos and sat morn games

cazalla: the only milf

i.e., Fall 2015) between 75K$ and 120K$ renting Amazon EC2 cloud computing over a few months.'
cazalla: made a bunch of spicy baked beans as a snack food but tbh,
i don't think
i'll bother growing broad beans again (was the first time)
cazalla: next time around
i don't think
i'd bother with swaddling and just go straight for the sleeping bag, but to each their own
cazalla: nope, was peak hour traffic so only going like 40 km/ph, nfi why she even merged, sorta lucky
i didn't see her or
i might've reacted by swerving
cazalla: mitch_callahan, well this is actually through the insurance company but
i assume they'll just pass the info on to the driver and she'll cough up the cash settlement if they agree.. maybe insurance company does it, nfi
mitch_callahan: would have been = insurance wouldnt have fixed the car, rather give me some cash,
i think.
mitch_callahan: man when my key expired
I was trippin balls. losing ones voice isn't fun!
pete_dushenski:
i don't give much credit to this 'apple car' nonsense but hey, if the fag was dumb enough to do the iwatch, why not icar ?

http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=08-10-2015#1294670 << without having to perform any necromancy or wield crystal ball,
i can tell you how it will go - precisely like the pharma pain of 1990s-present, where a corp is bought (present-day monsanto shares nothing at all with the monsanto that sold the first LED) - and 'useless eaters' like r&d folk are sacked to pad shareholder pockets
cazalla:
i guess
i was trying to be reasonable but
i like your idea better now
cazalla:
i was gonna ask for a ball park figure of 2/3 of the quote, what do you think?
☟︎ cazalla: so
i had a car accident like 6 weeks ago, young chick merges into my lane, does a bunch of superficial damage, lodge claim and gotta take it to panelbeaters on monday for a quote.. but given the car is 20 years old,
i'd rather a cash settlement than the car having the damage fixed.. insurance company is open to the idea once
i've got the quote done which
i would gauge around $1,500 given the chick damaged 3 sections
dexX7: mircea_popescu:
i didn't know how
i can voice myself with a different nick
thestringpuller: the first one wasn't compliant but
I think he applied for a fed license and he started acting weird after that.
mircea_popescu: <asciilifeform> '[derpage snipped]' << who the fuck is 'we' ?! <<
i think you know who the fuck is "we".
thestringpuller:
i wonder if a bitcoin company will call itself triangle in the future
davout: jurov:
i'd say it's the former (hence 8 bits) that makes it 'impossible', instead of simply 'impractical'
jurov: davout
i guess because it can either hardly fit whole block into addressable memory and/or do ecdsa fast enough
punkman:
I should probably look for a dishwasher-safe mouse
punkman: (also couple MadCatz things
I bought (long ago) barely worked and didn't last long)
☟︎ Naphex: mircea_popescu: yep;

davout: "
I was very well aware of the involved risk, but at the same time
I felt it is not worse than putting my coins into pre-orders of mining equipment or into doubious bitcoin companies. After being defrauded and betrayed by so many, my hope was straight and simple: if there is one person to remain honest, it must be DaT - if he did not, it was time to leave this community." <<< win
BingoBoingo: And
I mean... They go quiet when they get legal papers, as in their GAW reporting where it seemed they actually had law enforcement reports
BingoBoingo: re: Ball Mice. While they were a thing
I don't remember a time "castration" wasn't a prank that plagued public computer labs.
mitch_callahan:
i read the logs a few weeks later and it's what cazalla describes as the bitcoin hole
I'm guessing
mitch_callahan: one day mircea_popescu, you crossed my mind.
i visualized a bunch of shapes collapsing in on themselves. it was the universe eating itself.
mitch_callahan:
I discovered mpex about 2 minutes after
i discovered bitcoin.
mircea_popescu: it would have been a horrible idea (as
i pointed out at the time). a purely fiat business like selling fizz fits very poorly on bitcoin.
mitch_callahan:
i think those guys finally reached their goal a year later.
i should have some clearly canadian to give away in the near future.
i cant remember what it cost me in btc, though.
mircea_popescu: then again, old ball mice...
i had a straight lines and right angles genius. because molding plastic was hard in the 80s
phf:
i refused to use optical mouse for a long time, because my railgun technique involved upwards swipe, that would periodically glitch out with an optical mouse and would rotate completely randomly. good times.
mitch_callahan:
i remember my step mom would take that ball out as punishment. sucked.
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform
i discovered a new japanese restaurant (in china town) whereby
i had an exceptional peruan soup.
mitch_callahan: mircea_popescu,
I was using menahem, but my key expired.
mircea_popescu: mod6 maybe you're thinking recoleta.
i did that one a while back.
mod6: arg!
i gotta finish the documentation on this thing so
i can play new eulora!
mod6: haha.
i recall there was a guy before phf's time that was like, "
i can't hang in here! too much sedition!" or something
phf:
i'm waiting for this channel to catch up with me,
i'm going to go through some routine dc check, like a metal scanner or security clearance, and it's going to be "step this way sir." some gruff looking gentleman holding b-a printouts..
mircea_popescu: but
i gotta say "why don't you fly" "inertia" is a damned good answer.
