phf: having grown up with a dacha,
i grok country house/city apartments, but that's not even under consideration for most people here, unless they are boomers, who bought ocean property in the 60s for peanuts

i'm just not old enough to want one.
phf:

PeterL: pete_dushenski have you ever read the book "the total money makeover" by Dave Ramsey?
I recommend the book, makes mostly similar points to your post

mike_c: lol. well

mircea_popescu: looky, there's nothing wrong with your hollywood inclination. it's, from what

ben_vulpes: iono man when
i want to show up at a party in a stupidly expensive car for fun,

gernika:
I will probably return it to them, since
I also brought back a replacement eerom-8u that worx, as opposed to the first one they sent me.
gernika: asciilifeform: fyi
I made a trip to eetools HQ today and came back home with a curiosity: EmMax plus rom emulator - connects to LPT port - comes with console app. It does *not* however appear to support dos - win95 is as far back as it goes it seems.

pete_dushenski: davout: iirc jetpack offers some nifty functionality,
i even ran it myself back in the car blogging days, but yea, it's too messy to audit, so too messy to use anymore

i doubt it really, prolly just ban the offender from future auctions.
davout: pete_dushenski:
i did not know jetpack was such a pos, learn something new everyday
davout: mircea_popescu: re the signed addresses list:

pete_dushenski: congrats to asciilifeform on being top bidder thus far.
i'd actually like to see him take it down.
pete_dushenski: re: auction,
i've taken the liberty of putting the bug in a few ears to see if some interest can't be drummed up.
