mircea_popescu: <jurov> imho people already started confusing it with asicminer :D << pretty sure that was part of the plan.
cosmo: *a single crypto, i mean.
matthew_boyd: So not shares, the actual currency, like Bitcoin or Litecoin?

cosmo: keep in mind i have no experience in any of this so i don't know what i'm talking about 90% of the time
cosmo: i understand how crypto's work and strongly believe they'll have a huge impact on our future (who doesn't?) but with it being open source it's anyones guess as to what system is most optimal
cosmo: which is why i want to invest in a group of people who utilize cryptocurrency, like bitpay.
cosmo: lol, thanks for the reassurance matthew_boyd :p
matthew_boyd: Wait, let's get this straight, you have Bitcoins, right?
cosmo: yeah, a couple, and i understand you can invest bitcoins, but i'd rather invest with fiat
assbot: [MPEX] [S.MPOE] 4600 @ 0.0008139 = 3.7439 BTC [+]
cosmo: the way i see it, holding bitcoin is investment enough... using it to buy stocks is, eh.. "rickety"

cosmo: but as there's still a huuuuuge amount of room for crypto's to grow in.. i'd like to find a promising startup company to gamble some fiat in
ertyctnseldom: i'm not aware of any business related to bitcoin, which could be invested into easily
cosmo: well damn... that's what i'm looking for.

matthew_boyd: cosmo, can I tell you why I think you should invest with Bitcoins in bitcoin companies?
cosmo: probably the same reasons why one should hold bitcoins regardless but sure, i'll learn something
assbot: [BTCTC] [TAT.ASICMINER] 11 @ 0.043 = 0.473 BTC [+]
matthew_boyd: This is my reasoning: Some Bitcoin is a limited number, therefore making them rare. Rare things usually gain value over time, right? So that is a small number / limited number. So are shares, so if you have say ASIC shares, that you bought with Bitcoins, you are multipling a limited number by a limited number, which makes a smaller number (percentage wise) if you get my drift
matthew_boyd: thus making it rarer and ultimately more valuable
matthew_boyd: Yea, I have it in my head, finding it hard to get it on paper
matthew_boyd: What I have in mind is like 0.5 x 0.5 = 0.25 = smaller
cosmo: i understand what you mean matthew_boyd, but what i'm thinking is that bitcoin is open source, and still kind of beta, i'm not entirely convinced it won't be dominated by a superior version
matthew_boyd: Thank goodness you get it, because I barely do :P
jurov: cosmo, if you like crypto, try figuring out how to kick start mass pgp usage instead
matthew_boyd: I also understand, it could have a much stronger and superior brother
Skitchen: I could be wrong but I think the winged cow market is skyrocketing atm
cosmo: jurov, tie that in with money and you'll get people interested :p
cosmo: anything with money, it's all about money. ego is money.
matthew_boyd: If the answer to that question is yes, I am Matthew and I am pleased to meet you.
cosmo: nope, i'm some kid. which is why i want to invest, while i'm young.
cosmo: made a bunch from litecoin before it jumped up.
cosmo: would like to work 9-5 as little as possible :P
cosmo: that's what i was thinking
jurov: invest into yourself, learn stuff
cosmo: jurov, the best ways of doing that tend to not get you money..
cosmo: usually the opposite :c
Skitchen: the problem I have is knowing whether I'm learning 'useful' stuff or just stuff =/
benkay: you don't have to pay to learn, cosmo.
cosmo: useful if you put it to use
benkay: that's just the dominant american paradigm.
cosmo: benkay, no, but you have to pay to eat, to have electricity, sometimes to travel, etc etc.
cosmo: cash rules everything around me
benkay: find a role where your skills will appreciate in value faster than your salary will appreciate
benkay: you are getting paid to learn
cosmo: well, personally i believe the world we're in right now is only going to slowly deteriorate
benkay: how do you plan to cope?
Skitchen: what do you mean going to? it is slowly deteriorating.
benkay: are your litecoin winnings enough to guarantee security through the great disjointing?
benkay: read books while the world burns?
cosmo: it'd be nice to have a house to read books in :p
benkay: and the guns to hold it
benkay: and the food to survive on
benkay: and maybe something warm and concave
cosmo: yeah, and work sucks, especially when 80% of what's out there is retail, so i want my money to work for me.
