Namworld: They're almost ghost towns.
Namworld: Actually I don't even really try. My threads tend to be dramaless.
Namworld: Well I try to avoid such drama.
Namworld: If it does, than yeah
Namworld: He'd get more long term just keeping 100%
Namworld: Still... I think it was a bad deal for evoorhees to IPO
mircea_popescu: (+ not having to deal with idiots)
mircea_popescu: Namworld that's a problem, really. pretty much nobody wants to list for that reason
Namworld: Even if he sold at 0.004, that's only 40000 BTC for the 10 million shares.
Namworld: Ok, he made a lot of money on the IPO.
Namworld: 10 million shares sold, all that was issued on MPEx...
Namworld: Actually... they lose 1.9%, of which a good part goes to shareholders...
mircea_popescu: thestringpuller was 50 in the end they say
Bugpowder: yeah the last burst of 4,000 bet was 8 minutes ago
Bugpowder: including the latest
Bugpowder: dice up about 10k for the month I think
Bugpowder: over 100k bet in the last 17 hours
thestringpuller: nice, 100btc was too steep for me atm
mircea_popescu: thestringpuller you gotta read this : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137084.msg1465225#msg1465225
mircea_popescu: paying out of. I have a very little amount of bitcoin, and after buying coinurl the amount is laughable but if the total amount of publisher withdrawals is a few BTC a week or something then I can make that happen. Be reasonable, be patient, and this transition will be pretty seamless.
mircea_popescu: , it's just not going to be feasible, and if giantdragon still had the site, apparently, he wouldn't have paid advertiser balances out anyway. Advertisers would use their balances for advertising, and the publishers had the ability to be paid out. If a publisher has a balance and the amount requested for withdrawal is reasonable, I'll just pay it out of pocket, but it's not like I have a massive bitcoin balance to be
mircea_popescu: Re: customer deposts: I can't give you guys coins that I don't have, but I will likely be paying users out of pocket for this in a manner that is affordable. The way the site was set up before, apparently, advertisers were not allowed to withdrawal at all. I want to change things like this to allow that sort of functionality but I am not going to be able to do that especially if you guys try to all withdrawal at once
mircea_popescu: im kinda sad nobody lent him stock to short at 32
mircea_popescu: ok, that's a good line right there.
jurov: ic. some fleas think they are dogs
jurov: without real reason, he did not even try coinbr afaik
jurov: not really bad... just annoying stuff on teh forums, got called borderline scammer
Namworld: jurov seems to indicate he has some bad experience with burnside
mircea_popescu: "I work in fraud investigation and forensic accounting. People bring me crazy stories all the time. One such story was from a contractor who was hired to put in ventilation to a building for a bunch of servers. The owner later bragged about how he was stealing/counter fitting bitcoins and selling them. I have no idea how this all works but my advice is the same as Wulfar's, stay away from it"
Namworld: That way, everyone always pays the exact price based on MtGox
jurov: i herd they are moving to btct
Namworld: So we're switching everyone to USD pricing.
Namworld: Basically, there's no way to automatically update the price for everyone.
Namworld: Just done fixing BitVPS billing... well most of it... still working on that

mircea_popescu: afaik truthfully denigrate is an oxymoron.
Namworld: But she seems to be a quick shot.
Namworld: Especially for some "developers" not fit for making the service they offer and etc.
Namworld: Yeah. But denigrating can mean simply attacking the reputation of someone or belittling them. She does that alot.
mircea_popescu: they didn't, in the end, deliver first.
mircea_popescu: even her recent crusade against bfl (who aren't poor schmucks) seems to have been on the spot
Namworld: Not what everyone seems to believes
Namworld: Well I guess on the visibility level, that does attract a lot of eyeballs.
Namworld: Most of her post seems to be witch-hunting some random schmucks taking on a project too large for them and shooting them down.
mircea_popescu: heh who does that.
Namworld: As in, not wildly going around the forum like a rabid dog denigrating everything (regardless if deserved) and thus get visibility.
mircea_popescu: that's what pr used to be, before sept 1991
Namworld: As in, more traditional.
