mjr__: he never
touches fiat
mjr__: he is
trading fake stuff for other fake stuff in
the eyes of anyone
ThickAsTh: and
that happens
the moment fiat is
taken and BTC is given
gigavps: evoorhees, has sdice had any contact for any government regarding
the lawfulness of it's operations
ThickAsTh: i'm amazed
that converting $
to BTC is going on at all
ThickAsTh: they are
the main point of laundering
gesell: i wonder how
the icelandish protection laws for journalism and data safehavens could be applied for gambling
maximian: the problem is,
the DOJ destroys businesses first, asks questions later.
ThickAsTh: to me, it's
the exchanges
that deal in fiat
that will get in
trouble
gesell: if
the US had DHS
take down
the name and you switched
to namecoin, it'd be freaking AWESOME!
maximian: evoorhees, you should move
to Europe and change
the domain
to satoshidice.ie :)
evoorhees: though I know
the US does wahtever it wants
evoorhees: SDICE is not a US company, nor is it hosted in
the US, nor does it use US currency
gesell: so
then sell
them in blocks of 1k with each block N mBTC greater
than
the last, pump up
the price
to insanity :P
gigavps: evoorhees, i hope you aren't caught "off guard" when
the US decides SDICE is no dice
evoorhees: it's fine... he's
talking
to me now and no worries
evoorhees: I'm
talking with one of
the most vocal critics now, and I
think
that would've gone a long way
to making him feel fine about it
evoorhees: I should've announced it ahead of
time
evoorhees: I
think a lot of people were just caught off guard
maximian: All
this attention is ultimately good for s.dice
jurov: oh no reddit.
the atmosphere is
tense enough already :D
gesell: lol,
theres no mention of
the second s.dice drop on reddit. guess
they are all just waiting
to post complaints post 10pm
jurov: lol, you're in it
too?
gesell: man, DPR should give him a continious supply
to keep him awake at all
times
gesell: bleh, waiting for my blockchain
to sync. gah
gesell: any chance mpex will be funding wallets before
the s.dice drop?
gesell: i guess i have reading
to do
jurov: gesell i
thought
to convert one round of SHA into BNF. got impression
that it will be quite big
ThickAsTh: I've seen much worse forums
than bitcointalk.org
truffles: nope
threat
title and 1st comment
gesell: jurov: i dont understand. why not? its applied
to crypto as an alternative for bruteforce
jurov: the SHA1 formula is
too big
jurov: i doubt
the algo is useful for gpus
gesell: has anyone really looked at
the satcoin (SAT Solver for mining) writeup? could
this actually extend GPU life a little for mining?
truffles: "Out of all
the forums
that I have frequented (and I've been on some seriously high volume forums), it is bitcointalk.org
that has
the dubious distinction of warehousing
the largest number of what can only be described as "retards." "
truffles: see im in
the right place here
truffles: talking
to people is instant
though
truffles: this is a lot
to know, notary??
gigavps: kind of hard
to steal coins when you are paying
them back
jcpham: am i missing some class A
trolling?
gigavps: you have nothing
to
troll about
gigavps: over 50% of claims are from outside
the US
gigavps: no need
to ask, i do what i say i'm going
to do
gigavps: so maybe you should shut
the fuck up when you don't know what you are fucking
talking about
gesell: bleh,
the local bot
that bitcoin-24 run on
their exchange really is getting on my nerves (it ALWAYS up bids above you)
gigavps: EskimoBob_afk, if
that was
true, why are
there so many Gigaminers claiming and getting paid?
maximian: would you
take
that advice seriously, or ignore it?
maximian: evoorhees: what if
the law firm says
that you have
to collect info on your shareholders?
evoorhees: s.dice was unique because it started
tiny and grew without a requirement of capital
evoorhees: because any company
that approaches
the earning potential of S.dice might follow
the
traditional route of getting angel invesetment or VCs
evoorhees: not sure if
they'll list on
the asset markets
though
evoorhees: gesell - hard
to match s.dice
today, but for sure over
the next year
there will be some amazing bitcoin companies
that emerge
gesell: evoorhees: do you see any other significant business in
the market
that could provide more s.dice like diversity of investment and activity?
pigeons: mommy, why is
that eskimo angry?
evoorhees: No but I'm
talking with a lawfirm
to ensure
things are handled properly, now
that
the site has grown
to a significant operation
truffles: when is
this utube expected
to be completed with jcpham???
ThickAsTh: and
tried running
the py, but it doesnt do anything
truffles: well ppl dont understand how bitcoin works enough
to just fool aroudn with so i dunno how
thatll happen
ThickAsTh: I got
that far, but I don't know jack about python
pigeons: ThickAsTh: its in
the extras directory in bitcoin armory
ThickAsTh: You know
those reports
that Dooglus posts daily on bitcointalk.com? Is
there a way
to generate some of
that info on
the fly?
jurov: it would at a loss, so i just
threw it in what would be
the offers
jurov: folks... got an idea. how much would you pay for 250 BTC on MPEx?
to be able
to place your order nao?
evoorhees: I assume you've seen
the swings of several
thousand BTC before :)
evoorhees: do you know how large
the bet pool is?
evoorhees: wasn't so much a "need" as a "that would be smart
to do"
evoorhees: EskimoBob_afk "why did you need multiple large investors?" - some investment was needed
to provide capital for
the betting pool.
truffles: to me seems like a lil niche for
the nerd crowd
to swap
gesell: maybe i mix up words. hard
to describe where i feel
there is a difference in how one deals with s.dice on mpex, but
there is
gesell: i mean a lot of
the s.dice drop got picked up by people
that just plan
to resell it.
this is investment in relation
to supply and demand in
the market, not investment in s.dice long
term, imho
gesell: truffles: well not day
trade, but
to look at
the stock as something
to
trade just on its value alone
gesell: which reminds me, im gonna
take my dividends and reinvest now ;)
gesell: but
that is just
the difference between being a mpex player, and being a normal long
term investor
gesell: just sad
that i wasnt a mpex whale
that could scoop up another 20000k shares at 0044
gesell: im not upset at all
that i bought at 0078
truffles: im curious why
they was any rumblings,
they knew
the risks
gesell: the angst is in relation
to people
treating mpex stocks like a real stock market. and
the volume isnt
there for
that. if
this were a real stock market s.dice drop would have been closer
to
the market price because
there would have been enough volume
to eat it up. with where
the volume is, it made sense where he put it. ON
TOP of
that,
the whole idea of forcing his investors
to
think of s.dice stock different, not as a stock
to quickly day
trade on but ra
gesell: truffles: i get
the feeling
that a lot of
the angst is really rooted in
the fact
that its hard
to "get on
top of
that" share drop opportunity before
the established players. but i dont see a way
to solve
that
ThickAsTh: Posting a portion of
the
tranches on
the passthroughs might also go a long way
to keep people quiet. (Could also make
things worse
too I guess. Havelock price didn't fluctuate much during all
this, oddly)
truffles: gesell what was it
that you
think i was
trying
to solve
though
Anduck: u cant be afk and
typing
evoorhees: well unfortunately
there is no way
to
tell
the whole market at once
truffles: im not solving i want
to understand
ThickAsTh: because i was awake and saw erik post
the news
gesell: the point is
that you are not really solving anything
truffles
truffles: i dunno who likes
that kind of surprise..
ThickAsTh: for
the big players, announcing is ideal, for
the small guys, a surprise might be better
pigeons: set a future date when more shares are available, and say
the price will be X % of X-day moving average
gesell: people arent happy because
they didnt get "their" share of
the opportunity. but it doesnt matter if
they are announced in advance or not, its going
to be dificult
gesell: truffles: but
there really isnt a better way
truffles: so i wonder if
there is a fixed amount
that can be done
