mike_c: yes, that was suboptimal :)
jurov: and there were misc options.futures expirations
mike_c: i'm trying to think of one, what balance change wouldn't have a reason?
mike_c: i'm not trying to argue, was just trying to flesh out the issues. but i think we covered it.
jurov: not going to argue with you
jurov: davout isn't even daytrading... and took him fkn long time to get the bot right
mike_c: and i mean that from a business perspective, i'm sure some of them are perfectly pleasant people who just happen to think they are going to daytrade their way to stardom.
mike_c: let the brokers deal with them :)
jurov: i can see even non-broker client wanting to avoid hairy state machine to accurately track the account for daytrading
jurov: yes, if that's all you expect from an exchange...
mike_c: except one time where something got fucked with a proxy i think :)
mike_c: but i've never heard about problems like 'my bid didn't match the best offer'
mike_c: i've heard you talk about stuff like 'eventually consistent' and the statements missing some useful tracking features.
jurov: security is good. but i won't repeat myself about the other stuff
mike_c: you think the trading engine isn't solid? or security?
jurov: i fucked too intimately with said parts to put myself behind such statement
mike_c: around the edges it is rough, but the important parts are rock solid.
mike_c: people have to pay to play, what do they need seed money for the game for?
jurov: they will find a way to circulate them into ingame economy, that is not so big problem
mike_c: and I think it's too bad because it's an exciting company. if they're never going to spend the money, maybe just special dividend it back to the shareholders.
mike_c: which is why some people who would rather have the cash themselves are willing to dump it at 90% of book value.
mike_c: davout: re s.mg. I think the problem there is that it is speculative whether they will be able to generate enough revenue to move the needle on the share price. so you might have your capital frozen in a stock that is basically valued as a pile of cash.
mike_c: of course, the options exchange was hardly closed without reason (including some that remained unspoken), so it's tough to bring it back.
mike_c: so without the options, where does mpex get revenue? it's an issue, and one that may be being reflected now in the stock price
mike_c: but, point being, these stocks are generally held by serious investors and aren't going to have huge turnover.
mike_c: heh, well, it's currently trading below book value
davout: i'd naively say you'd base a valuation on the cash assets?
mike_c: how do you trade in a company with no revenue and 10k bitcoin on the books?
mike_c: ^ 1% of bitbet has turned over in the last month. that seems "right" to me. s.mg is untradeable because it has so much coin.
jurov: ^ large part of this was me, buying for upcoming divs
jurov: but small investors that were caught there, talked about it
mike_c: people didn't brag/mourn about options trades either, and those were brutal
mike_c: heh, yeah. but that said more about s.dice than anything else
jurov: i don't remember any such thing for a long time recentyl
jurov: i know, being half serious.. but really, i remember from s.dice times half of the chan bragging(or mourning) about trades they did
mike_c: also, the 'announcement' was recent and the slide started some time ago. my guess is it has more to do with the drop in revenue than anything else, but mp and I have argued that before :)
mike_c: i mean, i don't think i've ever seen anyone ever except you ask in channel.
mike_c: jurov: wouldn't you expect most people to not ask for deposits/withdrawals in channel?
jurov: but i hope that if mp was scammer, he'd have arranged the situation to not look so forlorn :D
jurov: i'm very curious what aill come out of this
jurov: supposedly everyone got their own deposit addy and nobody except me comes here to pester mircea for deposits/withdrawals
jurov: davout no cockpit, we just uncovered the fraud with kako
davout: ;;later tell mircea_popescu looks like someone has locked S.MPOE's cockpit from the inside!
davout: gotta make fun of the neckbeard pesos
assbot: Bitcoin Floundation Moves To Dilute The Bitcoin Brand : Buttcoin ... ( http://bit.ly/19TCzSE )
davout: mats: this seems to be supporting mp's thing "bitcoin can only work over gossipd"
assbot: fluffyponyza comments on Almost 10% more full nodes since this morning connected to the network. Over 400 more in US. Is there some sort of competition I don't know of ? ... ( http://bit.ly/1xAZ4GA )
Vexual: fuck if you cant bankruot without a name change tho
Vexual: i guess that what parole is
mircea_popescu: felipelalli yes you can query it with curl. it spits out json if you append json to any dir
Vexual: hey popescue, two bottle of wine, one better than the other, which do you drink first?
mircea_popescu: dude asciilifeform talking to danielpbarron is breaking my stack. same length names!
Vexual: might have to buy this pogo thing too
Vexual: ohimjust here for the plonk data
nubbins`: i guess this is as good a time as any to call it a night
nubbins`: prolly should have tested tftp before setting it first in the boot order on the pogo
felipelalli: Let me ask: about Bitcoin OTC WoT or Assbot, there is a public API where I can navigate in all database? Or just trough the irc commands? I want to make a "rank" similar to this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fb/PageRanks-Example.svg
danielpbarron: ;;later tell kakobrekla ^ and me too plz
felipelalli: Hi! I'd like to update this page: http://wiki.bitcoin-assets.com/irc_bots to add assbot and deedbot- how can I create an user in this wiki? Thank you.
asciilifeform: ^ this doesn't do anything unless your kernel looks for these numbers
danielpbarron: i think it's in the debian instructions nubbins` found
asciilifeform: danielpbarron: do you remember how to toggle them ?
asciilifeform: it'll be most people's only interface to their nodes...
asciilifeform: laugh, but this also must be fixed
asciilifeform: this simply means the bicolor is on
danielpbarron: oh btw, what color is the light on yours?
asciilifeform: when all of this makes sense - i'll post the diff.
asciilifeform: right now they're stuffed in the kernel proper
asciilifeform: and there is no reason to clutter up the precious ram
asciilifeform: because linux supports the nand just fine
danielpbarron: i was really confused about netcat to be honest
asciilifeform: btw this is not what the proper kernel will look like
danielpbarron: i feel a lot more confident to write documentation on that now
asciilifeform: i'ma fix it so it grabs a dhcp addr. tomorrow.
danielpbarron: ok nevermind, nubbins` learn to solder
asciilifeform: danielpbarron: the point of the console-over-netcat was strictly to be able to screw with u-boot (adjust boot device, etc.) without having the serial port
danielpbarron: what is the point of netcat then?
danielpbarron: i remember why this didn't work with the netbsd one
asciilifeform: and an elementary userland to go with it
asciilifeform: barring any other peculiar surprises, we have a linux kernel that builds for pogo, and runs there
asciilifeform: this turdel is strictly for folks with serial ports
asciilifeform: don't expect that to work
danielpbarron: i have not tried with the thing you just made
asciilifeform: as in, to the shell
asciilifeform: so danielpbarron's 'works' does not mean logging in through netconsole ?
asciilifeform: after that it goes straight out ttyS0
asciilifeform: but that normally doesn't get you past the kernel jump-in
danielpbarron: one that lets me set a serverip
asciilifeform: and booting arch every time i do a build would be retarded
danielpbarron: i mean that i had previously flashed in a different uboot
asciilifeform: i don't even flash these in, booting from lan
asciilifeform: what i put up just now as turdel-with-rootfs is just a kernel
asciilifeform: i didn't touch it
danielpbarron: yeah i know, i mean whatever thing i put on it
asciilifeform: i didn't change the uboot
danielpbarron: i don't mean now that it's booted
danielpbarron: i don't think mine does dhcp and still works
asciilifeform: i just tested the nic
nubbins`: ok, sorry, this turdel, what am i doing with it once gunzipped?
asciilifeform: danielpbarron: i must remind you - and everyone else here - that pogo has no rng.
