EskimoBob: mircea_popescu: was that
a surprise to you?
DeaDTerra: hm wait seems like I have gotten
a message from JRO
mircea_popescu: there;'s
a reason start-ups rarely sue founders, even in sv.
mircea_popescu: it still won't fix the company. so you get
a car. big deal. you weren't into this to get
a car.
usagi: So we get
a judgement
usagi: I guarantee you I would go after someone that did that to me if they signed
a contract like that
mircea_popescu: usagi just saying, if people have
a falling out contracts don't help at this level.
DeaDTerra: JRO planned to help Alberto develop it and he planned to make sure it was profitable and went sucessful. But after the IPO he and alberto had
a conflict and JRO dissapread for
a long time.
A couple of weeks in fact. Then he comes back he has moved on to 20Misisons and Kronos, and now avoids Rebate etc. So I think he originally planned to run it but hen jumped off after the fight with
EskimoBob: sure - lets another man and
a dog develop something and when he gets "sick" and walks... you have
a assload of broken code :)
DeaDTerra: Well having that said it's not like I had
a tin foil hat on me saying he's going to do this and this because he said so. I questioned him and tried to get him on the correct path several times.
mircea_popescu: and this misplaced loyalty creating
a fog around things is very detrimental to business and the btc.
DeaDTerra: Yes it was stupid to believe him, but he's very convincing plus when you have
a lot at stake your brain wants to believe whats being promised.
mircea_popescu: usagi many of hte better services were in fact
a single man endeavour or close thereby, like say bitcoincharts.
usagi: I don't see the need for
a team
usagi: If you have
a team you are probably incompetent hehe
DeaDTerra: since then I have been pushing for
a wrap up/buy back of this whole thing but as he's very very slow at getting back if he gets back to you at all that is, it's very hard to negotiate.
usagi: I have
a way of knowing such things.
EskimoBob: I am not
a programmer, dip shit :)
DeaDTerra: I am quite pissed at JRO, as he promised me that he would fix this, all of this. Both ZIP.
A and Rebate were to be paid back or the service were to go up and start generating profit. So I bought him time and what does he give me, more silence and bullshit. sigh...
EskimoBob: DeaDTerra: if the code is worth anything and you guys wan someone else to finish it up, I can probably help (I am not
a programmer) to get it cleaned up
mircea_popescu: "Matthew, I will not entertain your personal circus since I do not consider you
a serious person, and much less an unbiassed one"
DeaDTerra: That's why I don't think he will make
a run or something silly like that.
DeaDTerra: when rebate couldn't show the results the shareholders wanted I pushed for
a buy back and as JRO didn't respond and I haven't talked to him in
a week Nefario decided to shut down the accounts, to investigate what was going on.
mircea_popescu: "From what I've learned, those around him (not going to drop names here) have been covering for him for some time. To resolve
a situation requires at the least basic communication, of which we've not seen for months."
mircea_popescu: DeaDTerra so then as conjecture, the problem they were trying to solve solved them, people got disheatened, took
a nervous break-down, will in principle be back to unwind soonish
DeaDTerra: My opinion is to reach
a deal with JRO of
a slow payback to the investors.
DeaDTerra: Rebate is up and running but is not as profitable as it needs to be and I doubt it will be as profitable, as long as it's not integrated to ZipConf and it doesn't have
a proper development team behind it.
DeaDTerra: ZipConf has
a major flaw/bug in the system, it's unknown when or if it will ever be fixed, JRO has said that it might not be able to be launched publically but it can instead run as
a network with only trusted parties on it. Note that I am parafrasing
mircea_popescu: i'm asking because "Hello, I am sorry that there has been no official thread so far JRO the owner of Rebate has not had time to post one as he has
a lot to do with other projects, Kronor etc."
mircea_popescu: there is
a point raised there, troll or no troll. the question with mining assets is if their dividends meet their depreciation rates
usagi: Who would sell NYAN at 0.99999 given we pay 8.6%
a week
mircea_popescu: Diablo-D3 i thought it was
a pretty good adaptation of gaap for bitcoin assets. just saying/
Diablo-D3: if you want
a diversified fund, go buy usagi's bmf instead
Diablo-D3: its not
a fund, although its been virtually acting like that for the short term
Diablo-D3: [11:23:00] <mircea_popescu> wait Diablo-D3 runs
a fund ? thought it was
a straight miner.
usagi: And
a number of other things.. Check the rebate and zip.
a threads
mircea_popescu: usagi : you prolly want to put those on
a blog or something of your own too
mircea_popescu: wait Diablo-D3 runs
a fund ? thought it was
a straight miner.
mircea_popescu: EskimoBob i know that, im just saying, it's
a line in htaccess.
TheSeven: EskimoBob: or
a breached GLBSE account that was cleared out
EskimoBob: mircea_popescu: just
a rewrite rule
EskimoBob: I still hold DMC looks like someone had
a panic attack - 0.00000001

usagi: I daresay he will have
a chance to get out
usagi: thats not
a big deal
usagi: If they buy in at 1.10 during the week and get
a 8.5% payment
usagi: Just put up
a bid for 1
usagi: We can take the other side of covered calls as well, which is
a popular option for customers
mircea_popescu: i could make
a symbol on mpex but i don't think there's enough volume yet to warrant it. maybe on giga, tho...
usagi: or was that
a put, something like that
usagi: We paid out on
a BMMO covered call just recently
usagi: So we will see if I can't get
a few writeups/advisories out this month too
usagi: Kick off the week with
a bang ^^

BTC-Mining: Poll: if you were to catch
a sale of shares from
a large typo, would you be willing to let their owner buy them back if they requested it explaining the situation?
BTC-Mining: And "partner" accounts get
a share of revenue too (for actual content creators).
BTC-Mining: Cavirtex is
a very small exchange to start with...

Luceo: The loan can increase or decrease in $ value by far more than 1% in
a week :P
DeaDTerra: Every month in the Bitcoin economy is
a year in real life :P
BTC-Mining: Yes, I suppose I could go up to 1%... still seems like
a lot at 52% per year however.
BTC-Mining: and about 120x
a loan rate backed by
a house =/
BTC-Mining: What's the lowest rate people would require on
a loan?
BTC-Mining: On
a side note, I still have my 0.5% weekly loan bonds that are not selling. Currently backed at 13990:1
usagi: its
a bad idea imo
usagi: but all the remaining bids could be cleared at the same time by
a key number
BTC-Mining: I heard
a rumor nefario is working on
a new feature allowing to place multiple bids on different shares with the same funds
BTC-Mining: 5 day is there. Maybe I should make
a small script for greasmonkey using the onpage 5 day average... trigerring when submitting the buy/sell form
toffoo: that's not
a bad idea. you could argue any trading system should have that kind of feature, but most dont
toffoo: I would be
a lot richer man today if I could go back and reverse all those fat-finger, bad big figure, or typo trades I've done. those can be expensive mistakes.
BTC-Mining: I however would like to see
a setting allowing to set
a % over/under market price at which it triggers
a confirmation screen to pop. It would be as simple as
a lightweight javascript checking the 7 day average and comparing if it's x% over or under your current setting.
BTC-Mining: I lost money selling shares at .12 instead of 1.12 (made for
a nice loss). Most people recommended to request
a reversal. I however think such transactions should not be reversable and I didn't request it.

MoneyIsDebt: kakobrekla: How would
a male say: "where should i put it" in the same dialect?
kakobrekla: MoneyIsDebt, its how
a female would say: (more directly) "how should i say" / (less directly) "how should i put it" in
a certian slovenian dialect
brendio: I increased my own personal exposure
a bit temporarily
dub: was going to ask if it gets cold inside as
a result
MoneyIsDebt: Also, it's keeping me from investing bigger amounts. Now, I'm only buying what I'd be able to get over by cursing for half
a minute or so.
dub: the differences with bitcoin are that its an easy target to gain monetary value directly, there are
a lot of stupid children implementing bitcoin services and
a lot more people willing to blindly invest in them
dub: when blizzard gets its database stolen I expect it costs them quite
a lot
mircea_popescu: i never heard of
a profitable foundry run under
a few million units.
BTC-Mining: hmm... is there email notices when you receive
a message in your GLBSE inbox?
EskimoBob: low enough so you can probably never get your investment back (if you buy
a GPU to mine)
mircea_popescu: true end game performance also will require ~2-3 years of r&d and about 100mn -
a few bn in fixed costs.
