smickles: BTC-Mining: also, can't a sig be verified offline?
BTC-Mining: Why would people take the time to verify the signature if they can just click a link to see it directly on GLBSE?
smickles: the purpose of most all financial reports is to present the status at a given time anyway
smickles: BTC-Mining: so that you can have a record of that data which can be trusted
smickles: "it's to prove ownership" BTC-Mining am i missing something here, or were you wanting to prove ownership of assets in a glbse account?
mircea_popescu: yes. and this is a bad ideea because there's a slew of legitimate reasons the holder might not want to make this available.
BTC-Mining: The data is so people not owning the account can verify the holdings on said accounts PRESENTLY. A signed receipt wouldn't guarantee anything 1 second afterward.
mircea_popescu: why do you even get a title deed instead of just being told you own the car ?
BTC-Mining: But I can't publish that myself, the point would be for people to be able to verify themselves directly on GLBSE.com what a public account is holding.
mircea_popescu: just pointing out that a solution already exists.
mircea_popescu: BTC-Mining are you sure you understand how signed receipts work ? cause no, having access to the server wouldn't invalidate a signature.

nefario: must be a more economical/efficient method
smickles: in 'merica you have to be a CPA to perform an audit
BTC-Mining: aye, seems like a public api url + account setting checkbox would work great. Although it's up to you.
BTC-Mining: Aye. Or option, would be as simple as a checkbox that can be changed in settings. Then a page like https://glbse.com/api/public/username would check if that setting is set to true and return a list of holdings.
