undata: Mikayla: shooting's a skill
I think everyone should have
Mikayla:
I own a bitpull. have very high walls. electronic gate. latches on the door.
mircea_popescu: HeySteve mod6 Mikayla
i dunno,
i kinda feel bad for the bankers.
Mikayla: Am
I the only one who feels a conspircy coming on?
mircea_popescu: anyway, what
i do is the lesser part. the best thing gavin & co could do is fork themselves outside of this project.
HeySteve: so
I'm guessing if Gavin forks the chain, you'll be sticking with the tried and true?
HeySteve:
I can leave to Canada or EU any time but committed to some projects here for a while
undata:
I got here just in time.
decimation: yeah,
I would revert it all to satoshi
decimation: at any rate,
I got it compiled and working, immediately began downloading blocks
decimation:
I was confused,
I thought you had a pre-patch and post patch manifest
decimation: that's what
I get for post-patch wallet.cpp
decimation: Somehow
I still can't get your patch to match your manifest
cazalla:
i dunno, it's not even a good story, just slow news day so
i go fishing and see what
i catch
Mikayla: sorry
I see my email buggered out
cazalla: bitpay got back to me as well.. "
I will be following up with our Legal department on Monday in regards to disclosing bitcoin addresses to law enforcement."
mod6: yeah, it'll be a quick update.
i'll put it in tomorrow.
mod6: needs some updates,
i also said
i'd get rid of the coinminer stats too.
RagnarDanneskjol: should
I check with anyone else? bingo.. also, whats the story
Bugpowder: trilema down…
I read about qntra laterz… night…
cazalla: ermahgerd how am
i meant to publish this article to qntra
ben_vulpes: Bugpowder: on the topic of bezzlenomics,
i'm amused that you have a small grant, lab, equipment and...porsche.
mod6:
i tried. assbot hates me now.
ben_vulpes: b) "lol plate ams left justified cuz
i generate keys wasted"
PinkPosixPXE: Yep, "Oh
I fucked up... don't show your public key folks!!! Just your private key!"
decimation:
I think it's 'secure' because it uses selinux
mod6: decimation:
i could be wrong here, but a quick look here seems like this dude is wrapping up bitcoin 0.9.3
Bugpowder:
I can’t reorder the plate, cause the name is already taken
Bugpowder:
I was a bit faded when
I ordered it and didn’t read the instructinos
mircea_popescu: (then again, generally
i think bayesian stuff is masturbation for the uneducated intelligent.)
Bugpowder: Well…
I think they would be more profit focused then
Bugpowder: what
I found interseting is that the primary pattern it found (Fig 4) was the exact pattern for my winning short term trades
PinkPosixPXE: Yea, not a bad song... Not certain how
I feel about it.. interesting..
cazalla:
i would not even lend them niggas a pencil
mod6: yeah,
i think you're right that any place that actually gives a shit about the bitcoind they run, probably made their own changes immediately.
mircea_popescu:
i'm the first to say that the only practicable way to run this is as a two machine, serial connected thing, so that's not changing.
mod6: you have some great ideas about changes that need to be made. and
I really do think we'll get to doing them. bitcoin will be better for it.
mod6: who knows what effects can be seen.... and sure,
i could spend 3 months with gdb just trying to chase stuff down. this is going to be a methodical process of eradication.
mircea_popescu: these are all valuable changes. just,
i'm persuaded by your smaller steps approach.
mod6: understood.
i worry about these jokers.
mod6: that's plausibly only 8 weeks out. and we'd better have something to run by then.
i don't wanna be chasing crazy changes down when we could have just gotten something simple running first.
mircea_popescu: no but seriously, and somewhat from experience : while the serial thing is a solid design,
i suspect it's also a bridge too far
mod6: eh, yeah, these things are all great ideas. and necessary. but
i think the best course of action is to get something up and working as a baseline with the most minimal changes possible so we have something to run when derpistan puts in the hardfork
mod6: yeah, but personally,
i wanna start simple. and then work our way up to major changes.
mod6:
i think
i just tried to put it out of my mind.
mod6:
i forgot how obnoxious some of this code was.
mod6: well,
i guess she was blind or whatever, so lol
mod6: anyway, not that
i'm gonna keep going that direction for now, just wanted to kinda poke around and see a bit.
mircea_popescu: <asciilifeform> mircea_popescu: system v is a classical unix <<<
i know. apparently somethign shorted in my brain
decimation: the other day
I was testing a pile of python code that was driving hardware, and
I wanted to just skip X lines
decimation: asciilifeform:
I have more 'learned helplessness' w.r.t. programming that drives me nuts: 'don't use goto'
decimation:
I like the templeos guy, he has a fixed number of lines of code for his project, and wants to make it smaller
decimation: yeah,
I agree, like you need a computer that tells you what fits in your head
mike_c:
i think we ended up in the same ballpark
mircea_popescu: anyway,
i think as designed this share price is eminently modelable, to great modelling benefits
mircea_popescu: course
i think the most interesting thing in there will be the nonlinear effects due to the numerous feedback loops.
PeterL: ah,
I see it now, there should be a number between the at and comma, 1% per month?
PeterL:
I think it is almost ready, just testing it right now
mod6: hehe forgot that the host
i'm on is new. needed the libs that ben_vulpes listed in his script.
mod6:
i think he bounced.
jurov:
i am inclined to suspect boost expands __line__ somewhere
