BingoBoingo: While 'Murica may have been denied the possibility of a functioning culture by the Puritains, the Xtian possibility of absolution is the only role President and Governors have which seperates them from retail managers and traffic cops
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> could have called it to get the illicit immigrants out of berkeley, also << And on this point INS is scaling up enforcment, can't National Guard while they can scale up unless salable "crisis".
BingoBoingo: It's why you can national guard over one point and not the other
BingoBoingo: Decisions judges make about decisions are condemned to float around judge wank
BingoBoingo: Pardon vacates decisions judges attach to people.
BingoBoingo: Right, but this is why not call on judges over executive orders. It's a theological question.
mircea_popescu: i think that was re "call natl guard"./
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> nor the 'judges'. << Pardon theology doesn't work that way.
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform ok, that works. indicate such set of knowns.
asciilifeform: ( e.g. If it were known that asciilifeform were stranded on asteroid with only his chicken, but nevertheless fucked... )
mircea_popescu: well gotta have some basis ; otherwise what are you suspecting them of, "i suspect thee of me not liking you" ?
mircea_popescu: "i think alf fucks chickens" "Why would he do that" "i dunno, ask him"
asciilifeform: now this i have nfi, why not, lol. ask him...

mircea_popescu: that's how all the rooseveltian bs was imposed in the 50s.
mircea_popescu: he actually can call the natl guard.
asciilifeform: nah, same way as they unplugged his executive orders. 'pardon? very funny, d00d stays in jail, whatchagonnadoaboutit'
asciilifeform predicts that if this button starts getting heavy use, it'll be unplugged quickly and quietly
BingoBoingo: Yeah, pardoning is the only power that matters when original sin is on the line
mircea_popescu: a coupla years of this, the pantsuit party will be akin to 1880s russian futurists.
mircea_popescu: way us works, "everyone's guilty", of nothing in particular but nevertheless. then trump's guys walk and the pantsuits are left to do 5+ years "sentencing guidelines".
mircea_popescu: aaanyway. zee pantsuits have serious reason tyo be worried, in a police state the unchecked power to pardon is very dangerous.
BingoBoingo: So Trump has unleashed Bannon, Gorkha, relieving them of obligations related to actual white house attachment. As this happens he's trapped Jared and Ivanka's establishment friends in Daddy's house, and Daddy's making the rules now.

BingoBoingo: In the school of Causes and Purposes Hegel is the progenitor of evil, but not cool like a devil or anything. More of a lame, bitter clerk who can't walk good.
BingoBoingo: Because Hegel was a fucktard. Because "German Idealism" isn't a way to model the world as the world is neither German nor ideal.

danielpbarron: took at least a week to prepare the bundle
danielpbarron: an impressive loss though -- to hit a million on something that should have been worth 60 times less or something
mircea_popescu: yeah kinda hard to evaluate.
danielpbarron: that last thing i did that made the top pops was a loss technically, but i did get a bunch of level 2 gathering skill book blueprints out of it

mod6: also, to the readers, if power flux is a problem, best to use some power conditioning (UPS) of some sort - shut down and back up your chain as you can to help prevent against BDB corruption from bad-shutdown, etc.
mod6: fwiw, it looks like these lines from serialize.h :
hanbot: alrighty. thanks all!
mircea_popescu: hey, i'm not disputing that it werx.
mod6: i basically did a recent full sync with nothing but feeding into eatblock, from cut blk files, took ~6 days iirc.
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: if the build has eatblock, there's not really any setup needed, just needs the 'can eat' flag on warmup
asciilifeform: ( the blocks are fine, unless your disk is genuinely shot )
mod6: however, i might try a hand at keeping all but the most recent blk###.dat files, cutting them up with blkcut, then feeding them back in with eatblock.
mircea_popescu: unless she's set up for that, it won't be worth the time saved.
