mircea_popescu: i don't care other than in the vague macro sense that it'd be best if this actually works as opposed to not working.
gigavps: there are about 8 ppl crying in the gigamining thread, the rest are emailing me, being polite, and working through this thing with me
gigavps: nothing to worry about there
mircea_popescu: because forumer time is not worth money and lawyer time is.
mircea_popescu: it sounds to me like the lawyer guy is getting drowned in drama and is inches away from throwing his hands up at the entire thing.
mircea_popescu: "As for Quentin, he has other clients and has, from what I was briefly told, been busy filling in for other attorneys in the office while they were away. I'm hoping to speak with him today to get an updated timeline for the verified claims lists and terms of service for the VPS site."
Namworld: Well now they're at 100 - 130k weekly impressions.
mircea_popescu: MPBOR, moar serious than LIBOR
mircea_popescu: heh just catching up on all the juice.
mircea_popescu: last i checked (maybe a year ago ?) they were horrible.
Namworld: We've put a tracking link and going to see if it gets any results.
Namworld: Those ad slots seems a bit expensive tho.
Namworld: Well I guess the only people happy are BTC-BOND holders.
Namworld: Amazingrando isn't very active. Just moved his Bitbond to cryptostock and nothing then.
Namworld: I'll have to see about that.
mircea_popescu: is that marked down as loss ?
TradeFortress: So, there has being no dividends from when GLBSE shut down to now?
Namworld: The rest was loaned to Amazingrando as per motion in exchange of hashing, until such day we could buy some ASIC rig.
TradeFortress: just wondering, what is happening to btc-mining?
Namworld: but I haven't been able to read your blog in months, except right after that time you gave me 100 free credit.

thestringpuller: kakobrekla: you are a hacker there is no normal circadian rythym for us
mircea_popescu: o, that kind of up
kakobrekla: i was trying to get back to a normal pace
mircea_popescu: thestringpuller it was possibly the first time an item of value was exchanged for this internet funny nonsense
pigeons: i hope you mean days in bitcoin time, cause it would have been more than that, by far
Bugpowder: if the bitcoin pizza man never existed, we would have been set back a few days
pigeons: that's why first thing i did with the time machine was kill Bugpowder's grandpa
Bugpowder: one way of measuring you value in science is to ask, if I never existed, how far would it have set back the field, in terms of time.
pigeons: i would have happily given that many for pizza too, but no one else was willing to take them for something valuable like pizza
pigeons: without being willing to accept bitcoins for pizza, we never would have been able to trade anything for bitcoins
Namworld: Even less than 1 cent
thestringpuller: was this when btc was worth 10 cents a coin?
pigeons: yeah i don't get the ridicule either
Namworld: Hey, at the time, a measly 10 000 BTC for a pizza was an amazing deal on such gastronomy food.
Dr-G: still a better transaction than that pizza transaction
mircea_popescu: "i won 16btc and promptly turned around and bought the stock"
mircea_popescu: some dood was doing this
Bugpowder: the only way to win long term is to take the winnings and buy the stock :-P
Dr-G: minus the 250 btc I robbed :P
mircea_popescu: it'd seem the value of that model strictly depends on the quality of the bookie.
Bugpowder: anyway, I think the betsofbitco.in model is flawed for the most popular topic of betting, sports, and only works for certain long-dated events with a lot of ebb and flow to the apparent odds, that juice the bet value. When there is a site that does Vegas style odds making, I'm going all in in that IPO.
Bugpowder: I am actually amazed that nobody has built this site.
Bugpowder: This is the way it works, and it works very well
Bugpowder: If it gets really bad, you move the spread to a new number, i.e. -5.5
Bugpowder: if people keep banging on one side, you adjust the vig, i.e. you charge 150 to win 100 on the side with too much action
mircea_popescu: but im just saying, you can put 50/30 btc in, then wait for other bettors to contribute theior own then make a final bet to adjust to reasonable rate either way
Bugpowder: if you lose, you lose the 110
Bugpowder: then you charge 110btc to bet on either side, and if you win you get your bet + 100 back.
mircea_popescu: you can try coinbr.com, or else bitfunder has a passthrough
Bugpowder: so if the seahawks score at least 4 points more than skins, you win the bet
Dr-G: oh you're the MPE something guy, your stuff is cool but too complicated for me ;)
mircea_popescu: Dr-G you probably want a broker then.
Bugpowder: naw. The spread in the seahawks-skins game was +3.5 for seahawks.
mircea_popescu: but suppose the event is 7:2 to buy , 1:3 to sell (just random numbers)
Bugpowder: but people want to bet on sports
mircea_popescu: or that.
