Bugpowder: If you have
to write up something so convoluted
to
trash bitcoin
that I can't even understand what your argument is, you have a problem
thestrin1puller: damn it I shoiuld have withdrawn coin from smickles with all
this havelock
trades going on

mircea_popescu: what i find funniest in all
this recent coin* drama is piuk's haste
to divest from any relation
to anything
that may even be vaguely related
to yshit.
mircea_popescu: <pigeons> you have
to use mongodb
to be picked up by ycombinator << heh.
copumpkin: it's amazing I have not picked up on
this sooner
copumpkin: then I can make like $7k just like
that
Scrat: if you go with
the
trifecta (node/mongo/redis) YC will refuse NOT
to accept you
pigeons: you're allowed
to use Go now if you don't want
to use rails
pigeons: you have
to use mongodb
to be picked up by ycombinator
Scrat: this is a
textbook example of 2 multistatement queries arriving at
the same
time on a database
that can't do
transactional locking
Scrat: are
they for fucking real
Scrat: lol,
they're using mongodb
[\\\]: what you do with shares has nothing
to do with company 'value'
[\\\]: the more risky something is, generally
the less valuable it is due ot
the negative EV
ThickAsThieves: you are jumping from me saying somehting has more value you
than you
think,
to saying i
think it has no risk
ThickAsThieves: i do have about 20-40btc more i'll spend on low market AM shares
though
[\\\]: you should be borrowing funds
to buy more
[\\\]: and its
trading at .6 or .7
[\\\]: if you
think
things are so undervalued
[\\\]: or what happens when BFL actually rolls out
their hardware and diff goes up even faster
[\\\]: how about when
the local Chinese government decides
they awnt
to get in on
the action?
[\\\]: how about
the R&D?
[\\\]: ThickAsThieves, how do you plan
to pay for
the new hardware?
ThickAsThieves: i
think a safe value, is whatever amounts
to 3.5%+ monthly divs
[\\\]: if .5 is so
terrible
[\\\]: ThickAsThieves,
then what's your value?
[\\\]: How is
that good PR for MPOE?
[\\\]: trying
to leapfrog will be stupid hard
[\\\]: meanwhile,
the rest of
the crowd on
the smaller processes are doing
their own R&D
[\\\]: they're gonna have
to do a bunch of R&D
[\\\]: Yes,
they'll sell hardware but its an older
tech
[\\\]: I
think .5 is very optimistic
[\\\]: while withholding dividends
to buy more
[\\\]: meanwhile difficulty continues
to go up and
they continue
to roll ou
the original batch
[\\\]: and now all shares get half of
that going forward
[\\\]: considering
they paid out
the IPO price already
[\\\]: I do find it interesting how
they swung from "We're gonna sell" at
the beginning
to "We're not gonna sell" in
the middle
to "We're gonna sell"
mircea_popescu: but luckily people aren't clever enough
to figure it out, so it's all good.
mircea_popescu: and
then when
their purchase struck gold and
they had
their liquidity event
[\\\]: at
this point, who hasn't?
ThickAsThieves: profit
taking by shareholders
that bought at lower price?

mircea_popescu: and
to
think
the entire kraken bs was born out of mpoe-pr's early pirate mockery.
pigeons: i
think
that one deserves
the mpoe-pr link
to
the how
to start a biz post
Scrat: because it is something
that you release often
mircea_popescu: this is how it fucking works, one day it goes over 500,
then a few days of 200,
then 0

mircea_popescu: actually come
to
think of it most of my life is spent in
the surreal world.
jurov: on reddit/btctalk most everyone "yea we know
the pattern, first
the loss,
then founder disappears"
bitesak: get it out quickly before another country gets

these pundits)
taub: there are maybe one or
two alternatives
that have 10%
the volume of mtgox

there any gox alternatives?

cole_albon: a couple of months ago I fat fingered an entry
to buy s.dice when i meant
to buy mpoe. with
the huge spreads, I couldn't justify fixing my mistake immediately. I still regret
that decision daily.
mircea_popescu: as long as
there's X btc in circulation, cX will need
to be hedged one way or another.
mircea_popescu: cole_albon seems improbable. mpoe does btc hedging,
that need scales with btc and has little
to do with anyone's paycheck.
cole_albon: Does everything on mpex end up being a bitcoin denominated hedge against
the price of bitcoin going up?
cole_albon: looking for how
to
turn off spell checker...
cole_albon: bit hub - I suspect s.dice revenue is x% of someone's fiat based paycheck. If
the price of bitcoin skyrockets,
then
then number of btc going
to s.dice goes down. Same
thing with mope I suspect.
