Chaaang-Noi: but
the goal is not stock prices, its
total btc in
the pocket of
the investors or stock holders
Chaaang-Noi: well, keep in mind
they keep paying out weekly dividends, share price is not
the goal,
total profit for
the ipo holders is
the goal
BitHub: so i guess 3btc a share at some point
this year is doable?
BitHub: what's impressed me
the most is
that unlike bfl and avalon ontop of selling devices
they are opening mining as well
Chaaang-Noi: well, if we control
the market we dont care what
the hash rate is
BitHub: plus month or
two going
to insane hashrates yeh?
Chaaang-Noi: and people are buying
them at insane prices
Chaaang-Noi: they are
the only guys in
town who can mass produce assics
BitHub: cool, sorry
to drag it on, just curious :)
Chaaang-Noi: you have
to read
the fine print of
the pts
to know if
they are back by anything
Chaaang-Noi: once pirate failed
they would ahve made shit loads of btc
Chaaang-Noi: liek someguy who sold 40,000 share of pirate pts who expected pirate
to fail, could ahve just kept
the money and paid
the 5 or 6 weeks of interest
BitHub: i mean
they could do
that right?
BitHub: say 50 mpex users had asicminer shares direct with friedcat, and
they wanted
to create an assset on mpex with
the shares
Chaaang-Noi: its best not
to
trust pts or exchanges if you dont have
to
BitHub: man
this stuff gets confusing
BitHub: okey, you just have
to back
the PT asset with real shares
Chaaang-Noi: no one has
to get permission
to run a pt cuz
they are not really selling AM shares
BitHub: i
think other PT's just did it on
their own yeah? or did
they have
to get permission
too?
Chaaang-Noi: the investors would be very upset if
their shares were moved
to mpex, however im sure if you wanted
to do a pt no one would care
Chaaang-Noi: friedcat has never contacted MP about listing on mpex, and i doubt MP has asked friedcat
to list, but maybe he has, but anyway why
the fuck would friedcat list? more risk, nothing gained
BitHub: but its
teh contracts prob with Mr Friedcat
BitHub: i
think peeps would bring shares
to mpex
Chaaang-Noi: trust is an issue with
the otehr exchanges, but
the real reason is, AM does not need an exchange, AM has all
the oney it will ever need and more
Chaaang-Noi: yeah, but MP would have
to first buy AM stock, and he has been
trying
to short it since it was at .5
mircea_popescu: BitHub
the friedcat guy won't sign contracts basically.
BitHub: yeah i know, but cant
they just create an asset like
the other PT's?
davout: mircea_popescu: you mean vips get rice&beans, and
the regulars get romanian food ?
kakobrekla: seems like some extra food for
the vips
Chaaang-Noi: what exactly does
the vip get other
than a bill and a
title?
Chaaang-Noi: nothing wrong with planning
this far ahead, just kinda shocked
davout: Chaaang-Noi: looks like a functional brain will be required
to attend
Chaaang-Noi: sure 3
to 6 months is fine, but a year :) people will forget
Chaaang-Noi: reptillia was
too soon, your
thing is ages away :/
Chaaang-Noi: people are going
to say you copied reptillia

davout: Chaaang-Noi:
thinking about it, it wouldn't be
that hard, would simply mean you'd have
to craft different
txes spending
the same coins,
to different recipients,
that you know are on different branches, and broadcast
them in a controlled way,
the last part sounds like it'd be
the hardest
Chaaang-Noi: you wouldhave
to be ready for it, but i
think it can be done
davout: but spending
them
to different recipients on each chain would require some careful manual crafting, i'm not even sure it would be practically feasible
davout: they can be spent once, each
time on one branch, but
that's only sort of a double-spend
davout: not in
the usual meaning of "double spend"
though
davout: KRS1:
transactions don't get lost, in case of a chain fork
they should get included in both chains
KRS1: See, Chaaang-Noi was saying what I was
trying
to say "lost
transactions"
gribble: BTCUSD
ticker | Best bid: 116.57001, Best ask: 117.00000, Bid-ask spread: 0.42999, Last

mircea_popescu: i have serious doubts
that's happening again. ideally it won't need
to.
ThickAsThieves: yeah, although mining pool operators being in communication quickly was
the real save
mircea_popescu: on
the recent fork it proved itself
to work quite well.
mircea_popescu: there is however a messaging system build into most clients,
to notify merchants if
there's a split etc.
mircea_popescu: it's a moneybags issue, and who's
to say
they don't have a plan ?
Chaaang-Noi: forking btc will be very bad for image, not so bad for btc (unless you personally lost
transactions)
mircea_popescu: the drop from 260
to 100 was certainly an investment. people lost money in order
to prove bitcoin is not a pump asnd dump.
KRS1: oh it equals out..the real loss is
the panic
mircea_popescu: price will
then diverge
towards one chain closing in
to 100% of
the
total.
mircea_popescu: people with weight will just pick, sell
the loser buy
the winner
KRS1: and a split on
the price
mircea_popescu: which means everyone has 2x as many btc as he used
to have : half on each fork
Chaaang-Noi: yeah 100 bids or 200 bids on
the 50 AM blads :)
mircea_popescu: if
the chain splits
there's basically
two distinct histories
mircea_popescu: chains are just
that, sequences of blocks, which are made up of
txs
KRS1: from what i understand
the
transactions move data
through
the blockchain so if it splits,
there could be
transactional or validation data split up as well, maybe lost btc?
KRS1: mircea popescu: is it possible
there is validation data in both chains
that each doesnt know about
the other?
mircea_popescu: as a result prices will rapidly diverge, panicking
the mass of users, and
the fork is economically resolved.
mircea_popescu: he will sell his btc on one and perhaps buy on
the other.
mircea_popescu: whoever has enough money
to matter is likely
to pick one chain for whatever reason
KRS1: my bfl rig should be here in a couple of weeks..wish
the goddamn difficulty would drop or something.
ThickAsThieves: lol, people are still bidding on
those AM blades knowing auction is over, in hopes of forming a queue for next offering
ThickAsThieves: maybe dev should come with a plan in
the case of a real fork
KRS1: some btc would not be able
to be verified right
Chaaang-Noi: i mostly got into ltc so hard cuz i
thought if btc forks itself ltc willbe king
KRS1: but not
the other way around right?
