TheSeven: I should probably post a response
there myself, with a few more details
dexX7: do you mind if i forward your words
to
the lab
thread,
theseven?
TheSeven: not
that I consider
that good in any way, but not quite as bad as
tom...
TheSeven: BFL has at least proven
that
they can build chips, at least with hilarious power consumption (and apparently problems
to ramp up quantities)
TheSeven: "early"... like a year after
the anticipated delivery it
turned out
that
they didn't even have a working chip design from what it looks like
Diablo-D3: bfl still hasnt admitted
they dont have a product
Diablo-D3: basic atleast admitted
they didnt have a product early on and refunded as much as possible
TheSeven: bASIC fucked
that up WAY worse :)
TheSeven: bfl did some fairly good damage control given
their situation
Diablo-D3: to get any more scrwed up
than basic
dexX7: thanks, actually
this is very valuable. you seem
to have quite a good reputation and
the general sentiment about lab right now is not very bullsih, phrased carefully.
TheSeven: just
to make
that clear: From
the insight
that I have into
that project (which isn't really much), I have no reason
to believe
that it is a scam. It probably also isn't quite as screwed up as bASIC was. But I can't really judge upon whether it will succeed in
the long run.
TheSeven: they basically made me
the HDL engineer for
the second generation chip. while I have some HDL background on FPGAs, I have zero ASIC experience.
TheSeven: I'm also not involved much with labcoin's first revision chip. I gave some advice
to
the ASIC engineer, and
that's it. I can't
tell if
the ASIC engineer did a good job otherwise.
TheSeven: just like it was with
the bASIC project as well, which exploded mostly due
to communication problems and business mistakes
dexX7: well,
that is something.
TheSeven: I am a
technical consultant (mostly on bitcoin-related aspects)
to
them, and have next
to zero insight into
their business plans
Namworld: Hey... sitting on your ass is very demanding. You should be glad
they
took
the
time
to do fuck all.
Neil: Bets of Bitcoin have done sweet f.a.
to improve
their site in 2 years now
Neil: Rejection reason: Needs a name, "goat" isn't much
to go on.
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform is
there some way
to make a website where people can put in
their pgp keys and
they get
tested for entropy quality/statistical weakness ?
Ukyo: something about an update, pcb boards with no
traces, and "you lied"
Ukyo: i re-read it like 3
times
trying
to figure it out. "this is what happens" coupled with "and ukyo doesn't cut you
the same deal" misreads :P
mircea_popescu: not every
time i say a name it's bad news you know. sometimes it's positive.
Ukyo: i have been away
the last few hours,
trying
to read on whats happened
Ukyo: [01:19] <mircea_popescu> well
that's what happens when you selftrade on store credit and ukyo doesn't cut you
the same scammy deal. <-- wtf? what scammy deal have i done ? x.x
mircea_popescu: dexX7 it's probably a bot
trying
to do book volume arbing.
dexX7: well, let's see how it
turns out :)

coconut: ThickAsThieves:

coconut: mircea_popescu: you can be smug with
those who

today
coconut: they should have listened
to
the words of
the omniprescient mircea
coconut: poor guy, it's like
trying
to prop a walrus up with a stick
mircea_popescu: well
that's what happens when you selftrade on store credit and ukyo doesn't cut you
the same scammy deal.
mircea_popescu: so does labcoin reach 1
these days or dead cat bounce first ?
gribble: Next difficulty estimate | 111250639.508 based on data since last change | 127700093.366 based on data for last
three days
mircea_popescu: instead
they ended up with british cuisine, french business and american culture ?
mircea_popescu: what's
that
thing about canada, it could have had french cuisine, american business and british culture
ThickAsThieves: it's
the place american-french love affairs send
their babies
coconut: I was watchning vice doc,
they have some hipster blend of kebab
coconut: i
thought it was some extravagent french canadian delicacy
mircea_popescu: are you reading
the same page or just channeling
the same experience ?
mircea_popescu: "It was a god awful resume. You even gave your last name
two different spellings, listed
the wrong area code, had your work experience in random order, and had no less
than 20 spelling mistakes on
the first page."
Kleeck: My virginity?
That's funny. LOL.
Namworld: monkey bread? We french canadian have better. We call it "poutine". We also call
the russian president "Poutine"
Kleeck: I'm so full of Sierra Nevada
Torpedo Extra IPA

ThickAsThieves: i'm
tired of getting PMs from people asking me whats
the deal is with MA's hashing rate on any given day
Kleeck: Shareholders need
to learn
their place.
Kleeck: Half
their chips burned up.
Kleeck: They already claimed
to be running untested chips.
This was
to be expected.
ThickAsThieves: i wonder if any labcoin holders remember how long it
took BFL
to get
their shit working at al

Namworld: (Seriously

time waster of an idling game)
