TheSeven: I should probably post a response there myself, with a few more details
dexX7: do you mind if i forward your words to the lab thread, theseven?
TheSeven: not that I consider that good in any way, but not quite as bad as tom...
TheSeven: BFL has at least proven that they can build chips, at least with hilarious power consumption (and apparently problems to ramp up quantities)
TheSeven: "early"... like a year after the anticipated delivery it turned out that they didn't even have a working chip design from what it looks like
Diablo-D3: bfl still hasnt admitted they dont have a product
Diablo-D3: basic atleast admitted they didnt have a product early on and refunded as much as possible
TheSeven: bASIC fucked that up WAY worse :)
TheSeven: bfl did some fairly good damage control given their situation
Diablo-D3: you'd have to be bfl
Diablo-D3: to get any more scrwed up than basic
dexX7: thanks, actually this is very valuable. you seem to have quite a good reputation and the general sentiment about lab right now is not very bullsih, phrased carefully.
TheSeven: just to make that clear: From the insight that I have into that project (which isn't really much), I have no reason to believe that it is a scam. It probably also isn't quite as screwed up as bASIC was. But I can't really judge upon whether it will succeed in the long run.
TheSeven: they basically made me the HDL engineer for the second generation chip. while I have some HDL background on FPGAs, I have zero ASIC experience.
TheSeven: I'm also not involved much with labcoin's first revision chip. I gave some advice to the ASIC engineer, and that's it. I can't tell if the ASIC engineer did a good job otherwise.
TheSeven: just like it was with the bASIC project as well, which exploded mostly due to communication problems and business mistakes
dexX7: well, that is something.
TheSeven: I am a technical consultant (mostly on bitcoin-related aspects) to them, and have next to zero insight into their business plans
Namworld: Hey... sitting on your ass is very demanding. You should be glad they took the time to do fuck all.

Ukyo: something about an update, pcb boards with no traces, and "you lied"
Ukyo: i re-read it like 3 times trying to figure it out. "this is what happens" coupled with "and ukyo doesn't cut you the same deal" misreads :P
mircea_popescu: not every time i say a name it's bad news you know. sometimes it's positive.
Ukyo: i have been away the last few hours, trying to read on whats happened
mircea_popescu: no, exactly the opposite : you've NOT done it.
Ukyo: [01:19] <mircea_popescu> well that's what happens when you selftrade on store credit and ukyo doesn't cut you the same scammy deal. <-- wtf? what scammy deal have i done ? x.x

Kleeck: Half their chips burned up.
Kleeck: They already claimed to be running untested chips. This was to be expected.
mircea_popescu: gangplank in the sense that they smoke it or what.
ThickAsThieves: i wonder if any labcoin holders remember how long it took BFL to get their shit working at al
