kakobrekla: Jere_Jones look at penny stocks if you want to ride bubbles
KRS-1: Panama Team. I picture a bunch of guys dressed up in suits in a sweaty third-world country office with no air conditioner but with ceiling fans that spin slow. Each has two 1970's style phones, one in red, one black. An old coffee maker sits in the corner and never shuts off.
kakobrekla: yeah tat did it by "reserved" post :D
Jere_Jones: The desire to get ahold of the next ASICMiner was (is?) strong.
ThickAsThieves: we all tried to stop people from day 1
pankkake: I wanted to buy all the company at one satoshi per share :(

ThickAsThieves: i have no problem saying HL has always been the most accommodating and best at customer service for me so far
ThickAsThieves: but i dont follow the details much
ThickAsThieves: i know they take their mining fund seriously
Jere_Jones: Specifically, I'm referring to you saying you enjoy working with them.
Jere_Jones: Rephrase: I interpret what you just said as a very positive statement for the future of Havelock. :)
ThickAsThieves: it isnt publicly traded ;)
ThickAsThieves: just hasnt panned out that way yet
ThickAsThieves: i also look forward to working with MPEx one day
ThickAsThieves: and i enjoy working with them
ThickAsThieves: and the original Havelock team isnt going away
ThickAsThieves: but they seem confident
ThickAsThieves: I dont know much about this Panamanian acquisition
nubbins`: it'll still be there, just pushed to the fringes a bit more
ThickAsThieves: I think anonymity will lessen overall in the space
kakobrekla: yeah, i know you are not arguing cause there is nothing to argue
nubbins`: which is marginally better than buying securities from an anonymous bundle of letters
ThickAsThieves: i own some of them myself
ThickAsThieves: mind you i'm not arguing that mpex or its securities are bad
ThickAsThieves: but to the buyer they are no worse than a contract
ThickAsThieves: many broke them on the "play" exchanges
nubbins`: although the feature where you could just change the contract w/o anyone knowing was a good one
ThickAsThieves: a contract doesnt preclude an issuer or business from breaking the contract
kakobrekla: having a signed contract for one thing
ThickAsThieves: and it doesnt mean that investors can blindly trust either
kakobrekla: just better than others
kakobrekla: doesnt mean they are good no
ThickAsThieves: but that doesnt make most mpex securities good invetsments itself
kakobrekla: so even if you go investing blindfolded you got better chances there
kakobrekla: id argue it is, cause not any shit can get listed there tat
kakobrekla: ill give you 5 units of scam for 3 of fear, how that sounds
ThickAsThieves: at its core, an mpex security is not inherently more secure for investor, but the platform is better than most, maybe all, in that sense
nubbins`: "i'll trade 3 units of fear and 2 units of doubt for 0.1 btc"
ThickAsThieves: and most likely will go all of them
ThickAsThieves: the larger question here might be, what is the future of bitcoin-denominated securities overall
nubbins`: <Rozal> nubbins please take the ' out of your name....very disrespectful
kakobrekla: either they will run out of coins or learn something
ThickAsThieves: and that there are now less places for me to do business in the ways we did before
ThickAsThieves: bad, of course in that many people are "losing money" in the process,
ThickAsThieves: and overall tempering the space as a whole
ThickAsThieves: Good in that it is culling many sour assets, pushing some to more fringe exchanges
ThickAsThieves: Well, at first we felt it affected us a lot, but in the end we are what we are regardless of the environment around us. As long as that environment exists, we will adapt to thrive in it.
Jere_Jones: I had nothing specific in mind. I was just looking for your opinion on the current "bitcoin stock" climate. Specifically how it affects you since a large portion of your activites seem centered in this sector.
ThickAsThieves: You'd probably need to be more specific
