to more productive endeavours
fluffypony: "No one will ever beat
this guy's record."
mircea_popescu: i didnt get
to lulz yet, still working on you know, actual
things :D
assbot: mircea_popescu, you can't do
that
to Anduck.
fluffypony: kakobrekla: can you make assbot ping Anduck every day at a random
time? :-P
mircea_popescu: kinda planning
to announce
the management rooster
today, you'd be
the 5th.
mircea_popescu: (it's roughjly
the equivalent of a normal ib liquidity clause)
mircea_popescu: this is also good because it gives some anchor
to
the fund
mircea_popescu: you get a 10% cut of
the results, report your
trades monthly.
mircea_popescu: ima make you a s.mpif manager, give you 50 BTC , your job is
to
try and make a profit
trading s.mpif of mpex.
mircea_popescu: it goes like
this :
the s.mpif is going
to be reporting its assets monthly. meanwhile it will probably
trade.
there should be a mechanism
to buy/sell shares
to ensure
the market stays liquid and more or less alligned
to net value. so what i want
to do is :
ThickAsThieves: did you know
that Amiga pixels were rectangles, not squares

Anduck: no
time
to read big papers
ThickAsThieves: you could really benefit from understanding
the world around you in its
true form
ThickAsThieves: We registered on bitangels.co and we asked Mike Hearn
to be our
technical advisor and he accepted.
ThickAsThieves: for
the most part,
that situation is now up
to Danny and
the authorities
ThickAsThieves: anduck. what i am referring
to has absolutely nothing
to do with revelations about what happened
to make Neo fall
Anduck: they give +
to people with no news knowledge
fluffypony: let's find out...back
to you in
the studio,
ThickAsThieves
Anduck: is
there a good summary of
that whole neo bee casE?
fluffypony: and
ThickAsThieves asked
them
to come here and chat
to us
fluffypony: the (former) software devs are still figuring
things out
jurov: hm,
that's like 1000 lines ago
toddf: 'course not
the nifty easy receiver mobile device and all
that but hey, multiple paths mean more resiliancy right?
toddf: wonder when someone will skip
the expense and simply start broadcasting bitcoin blocks via usenet .. which
then can come
to you .. from orbit ..
toddf: akin
to broadcasting usenet news from orbit
toddf: yeah,
that was interesting news when i first read about it
mircea_popescu: rithm is not voiced, so he can't say anything about
thatg :D
toddf: hmm, guess I'll focus on refining my btc-e.com
trading bot
mircea_popescu: every single pirate investor "made money". until
they didn't.
mircea_popescu: you will get fucked one day, and
that day you will lose more
than all your aggregate gains.
mircea_popescu: it's an exact restatement of "driving faster
than i can handle
the car while drunk is safe, because i got home alright"
mircea_popescu: (keeps everything, including
the posts scamtalk.org mods
try
to hide)
toddf: so "I made money, just curious
to
talk
to others who are also
there" is a bad argument?
toddf: yes I've followed
the
thread, same content as on bitcointalk.org
mircea_popescu: this is a poor argument. if you read
the logs you'll see you're by no means singular in making
that error.
toddf: there are clearly bot based
traders present, but how is
that new vs other exchanges
toddf: I've put some money in, and have already returned my investment plus, keeps on
truckin, so .. 100th at least seems not
to be a scam
to me

mircea_popescu: said by a 6 yo puerto rican kid on

mircea_popescu: "Fuck! He don't know
the score. He sees a dame like you and a guy like me. He don't know."
assbot: Voicing
toddf for 30 minutes.
fluffypony: mircea_popescu: yeah, but I
think
the legal framework in
the EU in general is more mature...ZA law is Dutch-Roman with some British influence, but
there's lots of stuff
that has only come about more recently (eg. modern regulation of securities only happened with
the Securities Services Act of 2004)
CheckDavid: Haha. My
total lack of knowledge of
these expressions.
CheckDavid: I
thought you were still
telling me
the rules of
the game.
CheckDavid: The score? Isnt
that only known in
the end of
the game?
mircea_popescu: CheckDavid jus' sayin'. in
the end you do what you gotta do, but always better if you know
the score
than if you don't.
fluffypony: someone eventually connects
that
the new company is owned by
the other guy's brother-in-law...cue shitstorm of epic proportions, but
they got away with it because laws.
mircea_popescu: fluffypony happens all
the damned
time. i know like...
two lawyers
that ever successfully litigated
the sort of shit
fluffypony: fast forward 2 years and
they "go bankrupt" and
this new crowd
that registered a business like a month ago "buys" all
their existing contracts and databases and everything for $100 or something stupid
fluffypony: they exploded, dominated
the scene as everyone referred
their friends and all
the home owners wanted
tenants
through
them
fluffypony: there was a rental agency
that had
this awesome comm structure - find a
tenant and you get half of
their management fee for
the lifetime of
the
tenant (they charge ~10% of
the rent as a management fee)
mircea_popescu: informal only works if you're either part of
the core or part of a group
that can squish
them.

thinking about starting collaboration in a more informal manner.
fluffypony: otherwise after a year or

their equity. either
they pay for it or you get a share of it.
mircea_popescu: in NO case do you work for a startup on a comission basis wtf is
this,
the land of where
they get shit for free ?
fluffypony: CheckDavid:
there is actually some precedent - I have a very good friend who moved here from Sweden
to sell industrial cleaning equipment/supplies. he knows
the cost of
the product, and dependent on
the size of
the sale he can offer a discount
to
the client. his comm is based on
the "profit" in
that it's (sales - cost of sales), so he won't offer a discount on small sales but might determine it worthwhile reducing his comm on a larger sale
CheckDavid: Because I have never seen
this kind of arrangement before
CheckDavid: I was just wondering if
this is normal
CheckDavid: mircea_popescu: just a contract for sales rep
that sets commissions
to be based on profit instead of sales volume
fluffypony: I mean, I can understand if
there's a fixed CoS and
they're calling (CoS - Sales) "profit"
CheckDavid: I know chetty .
that's why I found it weird
CheckDavid: Like. X% of
the profit generated from my sale
CheckDavid: mircea_popescu:
the proposed commissions on
the draft are based on profit
CheckDavid: But confused me is how
the commissions are based on
the profit, and not on
the sales volume or revenue
davout: mircea_popescu: i recall visiting some old farm, and being shown
tools
that looked rudimentary, but were in fact perfectly balances as
to minimize
the strain on
the farmer
CheckDavid: I was sent a proposal
to represent a business in acquiring projects for
them on a commission based rewards schedule.
CheckDavid: mircea_popescu: bunch of coolness in
