Naphex: you could still stick to the dns and use x509/pki in the same way
fluffypony: dude you should seriously put this up as a BIP for discussion
fluffypony: Naphex: I think this is going to be the preferred solution once it's in common use - https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0070.mediawiki
Naphex: so you can make sure to query 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4

Naphex: $ host -t txt naphex.addresses.btcxchange.ro
Naphex: so... why not support something like this
BohemianHacks: and I dont run extensions other than RES
BohemianHacks: I dont really worry too much about browser side stuff
BohemianHacks: Just running linux and a non-standard version of firefox makes things much safer

fluffypony: BohemianHacks: for your hot wallet this http://electrum.org
BohemianHacks: and what does this have over bitcoin-qt and such?
fluffypony: depends on the level of paranoia you're aiming for :)
BohemianHacks: gotcha, but couldn't this site just keep my private key?
fluffypony: BohemianHacks: this is for generating a Bitcoin address/private key from a passphrase
BohemianHacks: So what can I use this key for? why not just generate one with gpg?
fluffypony: and then bip32 paper wallet for the cold wallet
fluffypony: BohemianHacks: a simple-ish solution is Electrum; deterministic key (so you only have to scribble down 12 words and save them), and it's bip32 encrypted
BohemianHacks: I would like a single key and a cold storage wallet and then just not worry about it from there. So long as I have a safe place to store some

BohemianHacks: at least to some degree
BohemianHacks: I think taxes and other issues may halt them like many other bitcoin atm companies
fluffypony: what is concerning about cryptostocks is that there's no due diligence done, not even the smallest little bit
BohemianHacks: Naphex: that it does, which is a bit iffy as a tech company but they have some legit ideas
fluffypony: at the end of the day you have to do your own due diligence and invest in whatever makes the most sense to you
fluffypony: but if you want to plug some money into something and walk away and let it do its thing, mpex is a significantly safer option
