mp_a_colonia: that sounds like a proper new age thing. "John Derpelmeyer, Orgasmi Cosmosis Consultant"
mp_a_colonia: (or for unsafety, in the same way)
mp_a_colonia: a 2nd auth may be a good idea fo rsafety tho
fluffypony: you have to auth once and then it's listed as your BTC addy, afaik?
pankkake: perhaps I should add it to gribble, though I don't want it as an authentification mechanism
mp_a_colonia: sotra let gpg be this central identity handler.
mp_a_colonia: prolly best way is to link your address don ation gto your gpg sig
fluffypony: good point - I suppose the only time I pay attention to sigs is when I'm looking for something
pankkake: I just feel like the one in the signature is too obnoxious and might actually reduce donations
fluffypony: pankkake: I enjoyed their post and then found their donation address from their profile or from their signature
pankkake: fluffypony: yes, but was it because of the signature? I've got some donations, but that was not from that, and the donators made themselves known
mp_a_colonia: fluffypony, if he had the sense to keep the 2k btc from that disastrous silver sale back a year ago he's got plenty of btc to matter yes.
asciilifeform: i thought he blew it ?
fluffypony: pankkake: I've donated to gmaxwell and a couple of others who have made particularly insightful posts
fluffypony: asciilifeform: the difference being that Pietila actually does have a reasonable shitload of money (which presumably comes from using daddy's bankroll and not completely fucking it up)

mp_a_colonia: yeah, that part i go tdocumented.
pankkake: his trading advice was interesting
mp_a_colonia: i personally think he's lulzy.
mp_a_colonia: fluffypony, you're not required to hate the guy to fit in the group you know.
fluffypony: meh, mp_a_colonia, those threads sound like the typical eccentric stuff I gloss over for lack of caring - anyone who has a large amount of money (and a relatively large amount of Bitcoin) is allowed to be a bit weird. I definitely think that all is not well upstairs, in the truest sense of the words, but that doesn't make him an outrightly threatening (by virtue of the power they wield) or dangerous (by virtue of ignorance) individual.
mp_a_colonia: i don't have the "right" to free speech. i merely speak freely.
mp_a_colonia: i accept no such thing. i have my freedom, and i'll force it down the throat of anyone getting in th reway.
mp_a_colonia: neither works tho. inasmuch as you accept a right, you accept implicitly that someone was in a position to grant it.
pankkake: it isn't regulated, we can't go there!
pankkake: while our modern societies are the first in theory, we're close to the second, and that's at least how the French think :(
pankkake: I forgot what the term is, but you have two ways to define rights; positive or negative. "you may do everything except X" vs. "you may do nothing except X"
mp_a_colonia: pankkake, re oyur latest post : grants of rights don't build freedom, grants of rights build slavery. it's on trilema somewhere but i don't recall where.

fluffypony: mp_a_colonia: not much, I tried searching the logs for Risto's name and bitcointalk username, but didn't stumble across anything special except general lelz
mp_a_colonia: but there was this entire clump of lels re the secure sauna last year
mp_a_colonia: fluffypony, i dunno how much of the history you know
fluffypony: mp_a_colonia: I avoided the sauna, although the outdoors hottub was great when it got a little chilly
mp_a_colonia: fluffypony, was the sauna secure tho ?
fluffypony: I must say, Risto is really a nice guy, and the whole thing was a lot less batshit insane than expected. I think he has very little self-confidence, and makes up for it by being flashy and trying to be as ostentatious as possible, but he's a fairly clever trader and pretty harmless, all things considered.
