mircea_popescu: jcpham i dunno why people got so excited. if i were involved with that caliber of idiots i'd be billing 10 btc an hour too.
mircea_popescu: i never heard of a half hour spirited bout of bank withdrawals
mircea_popescu: You raised a number of good issues and hopefully I'll be able to address most of them.
mircea_popescu: "For the past few days, I am disturbed, greatly worried, and upset about my ruthless mistake of having sex with my girlfriend. I'm a believer in Christ and my girlfriend is not. "
smickles: heh, jurov, I did start that statement with something about how I thought it was based of flawed assumptions
mircea_popescu: i have no idea why people'd want price conflict anyway.

jurov: no, i believe you
mircea_popescu: should i dig through logs ?!
jurov: when i imagined what would that do with coinbr
mircea_popescu: dude, from what i recall the conversation was that mpex shouldn't be splitting them

kakobrekla: ;;later tell namworld PS, somebody please tell bitvps to fix their SSL certificate, I can't pay my bill with them until they do this. If they don't get their act together right-quick I'm dropping them from the signcryption network. I've been pestering them about this for two weeks now and am pretty unimpressed with the lack of any sort of response.
mircea_popescu: i guess people want in ?
smickles: I'm quite entertained by texts sent to me by accident
mircea_popescu: i imagine Ukto is prolly going to do something like that too
topace: yea :p with teh success of the SDICE passthru i was considering doing a MPOE passthru as well :p not sure if it'd be as susccessful though

smickles: i don't need one, it seems
smickles: topace: well, you can probably top me, I don't have a 'web presence' for what I do
topace: smickles: i run havelock investmetns
topace: i did 200,000 in 2 days :p lol
smickles: I'm sure I offer a better deal than havelock
smickles: < topace> Havelock passthru now has 2% of all SDICE shares that have been released (200,000 of 10,000,000) << heh, sounds like I finally have some competition
mircea_popescu: i guess if we count pt's as institutional investors that takes us to about .7% total
topace: mircea_popescu: ~2000BTC/day volume, not huge, but pretty good since i only deal with canadians :p
topace: so i wrote my own
topace: then when we looked at exchanges to list our fund on, i couldnt find a decent one

mircea_popescu: i'm not saying you haven't.
gigavps: i've done everything i've said i'd do, and as i've said, i'm waiting on Quentin
mircea_popescu: i don't care other than in the vague macro sense that it'd be best if this actually works as opposed to not working.
mircea_popescu: "As for Quentin, he has other clients and has, from what I was briefly told, been busy filling in for other attorneys in the office while they were away. I'm hoping to speak with him today to get an updated timeline for the verified claims lists and terms of service for the VPS site."
mircea_popescu: last i checked (maybe a year ago ?) they were horrible.
Namworld: Since I'm now working on both + BitVPS is on MPEx, seems appropriate.
Namworld: Well, I just updated my bitcointalk.org signature, mircea
Namworld: Well I guess the only people happy are BTC-BOND holders.
Namworld: Was pretty much: "My mining doesn't cover eletricity fees anymore, so I'll stop paying divs. See you when ASICs ship."
mircea_popescu: i see.
Namworld: I'll have to see about that.
Namworld: Yeah I seriously don't know
Namworld: but I haven't been able to read your blog in months, except right after that time you gave me 100 free credit.
Namworld: I never ever have darn credits.

pigeons: that's why first thing i did with the time machine was kill Bugpowder's grandpa
Bugpowder: one way of measuring you value in science is to ask, if I never existed, how far would it have set back the field, in terms of time.
pigeons: i would have happily given that many for pizza too, but no one else was willing to take them for something valuable like pizza
pigeons: yeah i don't get the ridicule either
mircea_popescu: i was like... yeah.
mircea_popescu: "i won 16btc and promptly turned around and bought the stock"
Dr-G: minus the 250 btc I robbed :P
Bugpowder: anyway, I think the betsofbitco.in model is flawed for the most popular topic of betting, sports, and only works for certain long-dated events with a lot of ebb and flow to the apparent odds, that juice the bet value. When there is a site that does Vegas style odds making, I'm going all in in that IPO.
Bugpowder: I am actually amazed that nobody has built this site.
Bugpowder: If it gets really bad, you move the spread to a new number, i.e. -5.5
Bugpowder: if people keep banging on one side, you adjust the vig, i.e. you charge 150 to win 100 on the side with too much action
mircea_popescu: Bugpowder im really useless with sports betting, i never did it nor do i much care about sports
Dr-G: where should I buy stocks?
mircea_popescu: i was gonna say, with parimutuel you can always take both sides
Bugpowder: I have tried the strategy of betting on BOTH sides of my event just to get the bet size big enough
mircea_popescu: i work hard and pay top dollar for my research.
Bugpowder: I have done a LOT of betting on betsofbitco.in
mircea_popescu: but i can appreciate the point.
Bugpowder: I just want a bitcoin sportsbook with traditional moneyline and pointspreads
Bugpowder: I have used betsofbitco.in for a long time, and I think the time-weighting diminishes betting volume closer to the event, which is when more people want to be, due to time value of money
