scrybe: packaging
a flipchip in
a bottle cap is hard, but if you know what you are doing
a MtnDew can can give you almost
a Terrahash
scrybe: 90% wrong about 3 legs on
a triangle of random topics, but YES!
wavedigit: the news story wasn't
a hoax after all!
scrybe: only 3 batch2 avalons,
a bit less than $220m
scrybe: the coincidence does beg the question, I doubt they are related, but it could be one leg of
a multi-part misunderstanding by the WSJ
jcpham: if i was going to buy
a newspaper, the post is the one i'd buy
San1ty: I have been spammed to death with flame on bitcointalk by
a "donator" user...
ThickAsThieves: "Any one else sick of seeing manlets running around their gym? I think
a gym should be set up specifically for these pint sized balls of anger"
dub:
a giant japanese is still only 4-5'
Exocyst: Y, I linked my trading api to his index as
a reference
ThickAsThieves: Exocyst, I'm not sure yet, we have
a lot to prioritize right now
Rulother__:
A: Simply because we feel that it is only fair to allow the members of the LABCOIN team that wishes to sell smaller portions of their ownership should they need some Bitcoin for any unforeseen expense during the first year of operations.
thestringpuller: ThickAsThieves is there
a better nethashing chart you use?
dub: I love how someone would buy
a chromebook
kleeck: SOMEONE WROTE
A GUI IN VISUALBASIC TO BACKTRACE THE IP!!!
dub: [14:17] <Zoop_> hacking
a bitcoinpaperwallet.com with
a flashlight
Urushiol: helpful is
a matter of perspective. You're being informative. ;)
pankkake: but there is like
a sale per week
ThickAsThieves: pankkake, AM having
a bunch of PTs is the least of the problems
ThickAsThieves: i think the only definite thing is that when the price moves, everything moves
a little
Rulother__: Anyways the whole thing is
a complete joke
dandate2: alqueda wrote
a terror-bot that makes random but realistic sounding threats on various targets transmitted through skype and email
pankkake: …even though terrorism is such
a small threat already, people are bad at math, so it would be good PR
ThickAsThieves: you mean like closing
a bunch of US embassy locations?
Rulother__: and they'll use it as
a reason to keep NSA going
freeroute: and
a really nice looking forum post, so that everyone will believe me
freeroute: I should start
a Ripple Mining Bond
scrybe: they are big enough that I'm wondering what the big deal is on
a strategic agreement with seagate, yeah, they are that big
weex: is easic
a startup?
scrybe: ok, define what I'm supposed to be reassured of? that
a long standing expert is not going to suddenly go away?
lq_: it's just
a reassurance thing
scrybe: it's puffing up
a fart
lq_: it's
a warm fuzzy for the invesotrs.
scrybe: eAsic is
a "known good" quantity long before this deal
pankkake: well if seagate (albeit not retards) contract with easics, it means it was
a good choice
scrybe: it's
a Seagate <-> eAsic agreement with no ACTM to speak of
lq_: that active's partnership with easic is
a good one
scrybe: in either case there is no reason to think that the Seagate announcement will directly impact the ACTM deal in any positive way, and there is
a small risk of negative impact (focus shift)
scrybe: OTOH,
a lot of fast draw sellers from last night are going to be DRUNK today
kleeck: eASIC is partnered with ActM, eASIC is shown as
a strong vendor in cutting edge technology, ActM is recognized as making
a profitable partnership - 28nm isn't so "ZOMG TOO FAR OFF NO WAI" anymore.
pankkake: it does have
a BTC/share column
Rulother__: I have
a friend,
a dumb one, that I've been trying to explain how much of
a scam it is
Canth: also, all it would take would be $20M to buy
a majority stake - the value is just way too high.
dexX7_: i think the author is
a bitcoin user
dexX7_: at
a point where the number of parcels was already very well known
Canth: fair enough - I'm not saying it's
a real story and I'd question certainly the amount of $ invested
mjr_: that is why buying the mining company makes more sense for
a large player
Canth: I agree, it doesn't make sense unless they are flat out betting on BTC in
a major way that can't be done just buying it directly.
Canth: it *could* also be that there was
a deal in the works but not finalized and it got leaked by an insider.
matuszed: crazy the wsj got taken for
a ride on this one
mjr_: just saying they seem to know the details about what they are trying to pump, which is better than most attempts, and they seem to have access to
a higher class of media to disseminate their info
mjr_: so it could simply be
a pump attempt
mjr_: AND they didn't have
a quote from Yifu
mjr_: definitely not place that on the same level of news as
a wall street journal "rumor", which mentions details that seem to match up with what we know to be true]\
mjr_: just
a post on
a random dude's website
mjr_: jurov, interesting, but not
a coincidence?
userioao: Can anyone recommend
a side to buy prepaid virtual CC via bitcoin?
mjr_: so i gave it
a little more credence
mjr_: not on
a random site
jurov: made
a mistake... or hope burnside will remove the bad one quickly
pankkake: it looked like
a hoax or mistake of another Avalon
jurov: send thanks to mircea_popescu. but i improved it
a bit by specifying clear limit.
pankkake: took me
a while to actually get it - or at least "why it works"
jurov: yes. and it isn't binary bet, if diff is only 78 million, you
a still get 98% back.
jurov: for me and for short investors, it's
a bet it will be lower
pankkake: so CB.IDIFF-O is basically
a bet that difficulty will be over 79 million?
mircea_popescu: dexX7 they have
a long history of outright lieing in their press releases.
jurov: it shows only 2 paragraphs and "try
a subscription"
jurov: anyone who keeps posting the wsj article.. is there
a trick to keep reading?
gribble: mod6 was last seen in #bitcoin-assets 1 day, 0 hours, 19 minutes, and 1 second ago: <mod6> ;;later tell thestringpuller hey whats up. saw you were lookin for me. have been afk for
a few days - been moving. drop me
a pm if you need.
dexX7: "No way the WSJ would publish
a story like this without checking everything out."
dexX7: well, if it is due to the avalon fake news, this might be
a scenario: people fall for the fake, sold their shares. those who still had confidence bought in lower and drive the price slowely up again. then, after those who sold earlier realize it was fake, have to buy back in again. this is speculative, but it could end up in an even higher price.. ;)
dub: yifu is selling
a monorail in australia too
ozbot: Avalon might be getting
a $200 million investment and 20nm technology to become the leader of the mi
dub: B0g4r7: looks
a lot like wsj has reposted some retard bitcoin blog without fact checking
dexX7: even that avalon fake news is 100x more likely to induce
a selloff
dub: dexX7: well hopefully people are realising that AMC is just
a dopey looking guy posting links to
a website
dub: just as likely to be
a case of idiots realising they are investing in mining companies that are nothing more than
a post on
a forum
dexX7: what? because today was
a diff change (which wasn't unexpected) all share values go down?
naemsi: and maybe
a bit of firefox oldversion news
matuszed: in
a 1 billion dollar currency
