mircea_popescu: honestly, social engineering is the #1 most significant threat. people are slow to realise this, but it's a fact.
bob____: not like someone is going to manipulate the bankroll for 10k btc to win a bitbet
bob____: there needs to be a bet on bitbet about the JD bankroll size.
kleeck: "5BTC A SHARE" to "FUCK THIS IM OUT TAKE IT TO .000001"

nanotube: pigeons: yea, i want to know how to make a convincing mircea impression too. :)
nanotube: mircea_popescu: right, if you're just talking and there are no important decisions being made, nickserv auth is sufficient. but for giving out root login to a server.... not really.
imsaguy: one could assume that if a password for nickserv is compromised, that a gpg password is also compromised.
nanotube: also, funny how they managed to impersonate you. hope that you have apprised your cooperators that in the future they should only trust it is you if you can sign a one time challenge. :)

mircea_popescu: this is precious. guy with "insider info" has ideas who's a scumbag.
mircea_popescu: I have insider info and they WON'T deliver in September. Again: best case scenario beginning of October. To the guy who asked why I don't bet big to NO: because the risk/reward is too low for me, and I mean that the risk of trusting a substantial amount of coins to a third party (BITBET) opaquely operated by a scumbag (Mircea Popescu) is not worth the risk given the low odds (EG: betting 100BTC to NO pays 107.49182167
kakobrekla: ah i see pankkake ill take a look
mircea_popescu: "Then why has it never happened for ripplepay? Why am I not paying a fee to download or upload Ubuntu ISO? Why am I not paying a fee to access this page and submit a post?"

pankkake: I was using a quote bot elsewhere, but it crapped out
mircea_popescu: they want to make a new car, they put out the orders by part weight. thus rearview mirror looking like mercedes' is 10x as important as injectors looking like mercedes'

dexX7: really? i digged a bit and found stuff like gpgauth.org for example
dexX7: it's so cool what you can do with those "mechanics". i was surprised how mpex uses gpg signed messages to proceed orders and i played a bit to create a btc signature based login system. i bet this is not new, but still impressive :)
dexX7: jurov: how would that work? i guess ciphermine would need to transfer their shares on bitfunder to one of your accounts and users/shareholders would need to sign a message on coinbr to claim their shares and you'd then use the internal transfer on bitfunder to distribute the shares?
dexX7: that's a shame
